  1. I had the same thought. The Bills seem to devalue interior line play, and what is this getting them? In contrast, Jerry Jones, that draft mastermind, picks G Zack Martin in the first round and he's now in the conversation for offensive ROY.

It makes you wonder whether we would have been better having Martin at Guard, our 1st round pick 2015, Stevie Johnson and Mike Williams playing, as opposed to our current OL, Watkins, no 1st rounder next year and Bryce Brown on our bench.

  2. I hate to actually say this... but he needs to learn to check down. He took some bad sacks that could have been avoided had he looked for a dump-off guy.

Other than that, he was pretty solid on those 10-15 yard throws. It's been a while since we had a QB that can make that throw.

  3. What's funny is everyone has been in love with Pegula as owner. If a Gundlach/Kelly/ potentially Golisano group steps up will everyone be disappointed? Will people start rooting against Jim Kelly? Or if Pegula gets it - are people upset he took the team away from Kelly? I'm happy either way - just keep away from JBJ.

  4. He will be a better back than Spiller. I haven't backpedaled You just don't know how to argue, you rely on snide comments and posts with no substance.

    Here;s what I said in post #77.

I like CJ on this team as a #2 guy. Best case scenario, Freddy produces for a few years, CJ gets signed to a reasonable deal, and Bryce Brown becomes our #1 with CJ staying in his CJ role.

Did you see what I said there? I said in a few years. I marked it as best as I could. You know what that means? It means not this year.

    CJ > Brown.

    Bryce Brown

College - 476 career rushing yards, 4.6 avg., 3 TDs, 140 Rec yards, 1 TD. Not invited to NFL Combine.

    Pro - 878 career rushing yards, 4.6 avg. 6 TDs, 12 Receptions

    CJ Spiller

College - 4,480 career rushing yards, 5.9 avg, 32 TDs, 1362 Rec yards, 12 TD. 8 Special teams TDs. ACC Player of year, consensus All American.

    Pro - 3,015 career rushing yards, 5.1 avg., 12 TDs, 139 Receptions

In case anyone is curious - if Spiller stays at 5.1 avg. for a career, that is tied for #6 all time, and #4 as a RB. He's doing fine.

  5. If you want to know the difference between CJ and the top 15 RB's in the league, look no further than the first down stat. The top ten are McCoy, Forte, Charles, Lynch, Lacy, AP, Morris, Gore, Murray and woah? Fred Jackson coming in hot at #10.

Where's Spiller? Oh he's back at #45, getting beat out by Terelle Pryor, Steven Jackson, Danny Woodhead. And he's two first downs in front of those other fantastic RB's, like RG3, Andrew Luck, Alex Smith, Bobby Rainey? Fun fact, Spill's had either almost double, or almost triple the amount of attempts of anyone around him in this list, yet was right there in terms of FD conversions (except for Steven Jackson). Conclusion? Spiller sucks at keeping drives alive, perhaps the most important thing an RB can do besides score TD's.

McCoy played 12 games that year, not 15.

McCoy, with 12 games in 2012, doubled Spiller's FD stat in 15 games in 2013. On almost the same number of attempts. The players aren't even close.

Bryce Brown in 2012, on 115 attempts, had more first downs than 2013 Spiller. Fred Jackson in 2012, on 115 attempts, had 1 less first down than 2013 Spiller. This is the one stat that exemplifies his weakness as a player.

I understand the "cool" thing is for everyone to hate on CJ, which everyone does on and off the board. I disagree - I think he's one of our best players. I don't think CJ is the issue - if we had McCoy or Peterson, we'd still be in the same spot.

At this point, what would you like the team to do? Let him go at year end? Ride 33 year old Fred Jackson for a couple more years? Draft another RB?

  6. How many games has he had 10 carries or less? A lot.

That's pretty good. Lesean McCoy almost doubled that. I can't believe McCoy almost doubled "the next Barry Sanders."

How many TD's did CJ have? How many blocks did he miss?

CJ better hit his Hall of Fame stride quick, he's only got a couple more years.

McCoy is sick - probably the best RB in the league right now. But look at his 2012 stats - looks pretty close to CJ in 2013. I'm not saying give him McCoy money, but don't wait until CJ puts up another 2012 campaign.

  7. $1.082 B - Bon Jovi / Rogers Group. About a 30% premium on where it should go. They get the approval when they "promise" to keep the team in NY.

FWIW, as fans, I would get nervous over these $1B+ deals. It makes it incredibly hard to make the ROR these guys are looking for without substantially raising prices. Ticket prices might need to be 2x-3x.
