  1. +1 Remember the Cleveland game in Buffalo a couple of years ago (sunday or monday night), when Jauron called runs up the middle 3 times before sending Lindell on for the game winning (48 yard?) field goal... which he missed. I, for one, am glad to see a team that tries to win.
  2. Exactly. Call me selfish, but this run and gun brand of Fitz-ball is a lot more exciting than what we've seen the last few years. If we're going to lose, at least let us have something to cheer for along the way!
  3. Will that be enough to prove he's a legitimate candidate for our QB of the future? Look at the stats, he's most certainly in the conversation. I would love to spend our picks in April on some defensive front 7 help. A big fat run stuffer or legit pass rusher would make such a big difference...
  4. Given the tools he has, I think Chan has to think outside the box to be successful in 2011. Lots of deception and options from every look. Steps to make this possible: 1.) bring in a scrambling QB. Obviously Michael Vick would be the first choice, but I think we could succeed with Seneca Wallace, Tyler Thigpen, or a number of others. These guys bring the threat of run along with pass, it keeps the defense off balance. Don't get me wrong, Fitz has been great, but I don't think we can win with what we've got. We need to cover our deficiencies until we can populate the roster with talent 2.) Keep Fred and CJ on the field as much as possible. Imagine FJ, CJ or Roscoe with the ball 80% of the time, and as decoys the rest. Keep Lee Evans split out to spread the field. And keep in mind, Fred can throw the ball well. 3.) Need a true deep threat. A burner with a proven ability to get down the field. Don't know who on this one, ideas? This guy keeps a safety deep, one less guy in the box to stop our wildcat 2 run game. It is certainly not traditional. But it could keep our offense on the field for sustained drives, which makes our defense better. We need good, big talent on the lines from the draft.
  5. Dummies! You all keep saying Nix will trade the top pick if we get it. That will NOT happen. No one will be dumb enough to trade up to have the "privilege" of paying an unproven player the ridiculous contract he will be due. If we get the 1st overall, we will have to make a pick. Hopefully we get lucky and it pans out to be a good year to have the 1st pick.
  6. I think it's October. Barely. I'm more interested in tomorrow's game, tonight's Sabres game, the foliage, Monday's Sabres game and celebrating Columbus day. The draft is in April. Let's consider wasting time on it in March.
  7. I said we could be in "seriously dire straits." A quick comparison of the sentences would show that I did concede that we are already in dire straits. You took the time to post that. Really? I mean, really? To respond to all else - I KNOW we suck now. My concern, as stated, is that we could go from really, really bad to really, really historically terrible. Remember, we've played against 4 quality teams (if the Dolphins are quality). We will know more this week. We may not be as bad as we think, but as I mentioned, losing #14 certainly won't help matters.
  8. I'm concerned. It's week 5 and already the season looks extremely bleak. That's with a QB who's certainly not a star, but has proven to be serviceable in the NFL. Should Fitz go down this week, and it's entirely within the realm of possibility considering both his past and his protection, we could be in seriously dire straits. Brian Brohm, Levi Brown I know there are a lot of posters in this forum calling for Brohm to get some serious looks sooner rather than later. I don't disagree. But I also think that, from the glimpses we have seen of Brohm's play, he's a serious downgrade from Fitzpatrick. So, what if? If we're forced to place this team in the hands of Brohm or ...gulp... Brown, what's to stop the opposition from putting 8-9 in the box on every single play? Instead of betting on the game, people would be compelled to bet on the over/under of Buffalo's score, and I can't imagine it would be a double digit number. I'm scared. I will watch whatever the Bills run out onto the field (won't spend much money if it's crap), but I'll watch. I'm worried that a Brian Brohm led team could grow so inept that I couldn't justify spending the time watching. Worst ever? In the line of QB's post-Kelly, I'd say with each successive successor, we're going downhill. Johnson, Flutie, Bledsoe were all dynamic winners at times - if nothing else, they were certainly average. AVP was a stop-gap, JP could at the very least keep my attention with the occasional beautifully thrown deep ball. Trent - Fitz - Brohm, could be a step down each time. I'm nervous guys. Let's hope Fitzy stays healthy. For our sake. Go Bills!
  9. Nice, I'll have to check it out. So you'll say Fleet Center... Surprised you don't just call it the Garden! Thanks!
  10. Looking for a good, true Buffalo Bills bar in Boston for tomorrow. Any good places?
  11. Sounds like a pie in the sky prediction. The Jags just beat the Colts! They handled Manning, but can they handle Fitzpatrick?? Jags 31 Bills 17 (17 sounds high, doesnt it?)
  12. I agree that Jackson is far from a top-5 running back. However, Matt Forte? BOTH Carolina backs? MJD - maybe. Running backs are, essentially, as good as the o-line. In that sense, I'd put Freddy up there with almost anyone. 4.5ypc career behind a bunch of scrubs.
  13. I actually spent a few minutes intending to edit the title, but I didn't find a way, sorry! If someone posts instructions I will do it
  14. He's not that good, but he's soooo much better than Kelsay lining up at OLB and trying to run with TE's. This organization is really something...
  15. It's a hypothetical. One that I've never heard considered. Makes too much sense to ignore, doesn't it??
  16. Before you scoff at this... It just might make sense and here's a few reasons why: 1. Same distance for Canadian fans - about 30 minutes from Buffalo. (Also same distance for northern tier Buffalo and suburbanites). 2. Double down on Rochester market, and brings Syracuse into play... Remember - the Jets are now in Cortland for training camp, we may be losing ground in CNY 3. Outside Erie County! Which means it just might get done in our lifetimes, not to mention you'd bet that area would provide all kinds of incentive and jump at the opportunity. It would be the biggest thing in Batavia since... well, you get the idea. 4. Same feel for Bills games, tailgating, etc.
  17. After 3 weeks of evidence you should realize the truth: Marshawn is #1 because he is the BEST running back we have. You dunce.
  18. Good point, but watching the NE game I found myself swooning for a pass rush...
  19. 1. It was a hypothetical 2. I believe we can be productive with Spiller/Jackson or Jackson/Spiller So... THAT is why the F I'd trade him for good value!
  20. I think giving him away for a 3rd rounder is pointless. Do you have faith we can turn a 3rd rounder into a useful player??? I say keep him or get an instant contributor. And that must be an OL or a proven pass-rusher. True?
  21. IF We can come up with a way to pressure opposing QB's. Brady had nothing to worry about yesterday. The one time we had pressure on him he just went down on his own. QB pressures change the game. With our change to the 3-4 we should be able to disguise our blitz packages and get pressure consistently... Why isn't it happening? Clearly Maybin isn't a pass rusher as a down lineman. But I have to think that if we make it look like any of 7-8 guys could be coming and mix up what we send that we'd get people through the o-line from time to time. I was waiting and waiting to see something like this yesterday, but there was no sign of it. If we can't cover their WR/TE's with 7-8 in the secondary, why did we keep trying??? No one's talking about our DC letting us down... I am. Are you?
  22. You can't blame Fitz! We scored 30 (23 on offense) against NE in NE. That's a good offensive showing! 30 should win the game against anyone, plain and simple. Taking down the Jets next week!!
