  1. I see alot of kuechly talk, what about the other prospects? Like zach brown, bruce irvin, keeanan robinson, donta hightower, ronnell lewis.. I havent seen much tape/discussion on these guys and would like to get some input from everyone if they have any on these guys. I think the bills HAVE to come away with a power linebacker. Someone who can make BIG hits and cause fear and turn overs, are any of these guys really big hitters? Also they have to be able to cover somewhat imo, but we need some force to be there at the LB position

    Zach Brown 2nd rounder.

  2. 10 Buffalo Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa - Buffalo has passed on offensive line options in recent years, but Reiff would be a good option to buck the trend. The Bills have made big strides on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, and that allows them to focus on shoring up the offense. Reiff will help protect, but is a complete player and will provide a spark in the running game as well.

Don Bank's New Mock (4.0)10 Buffalo Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa The Bills are another team thought to have Floyd on their radar, but the value of getting a potential blindside tackle for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick keeps me returning to Reiff as the safer and more sensible pick.

41 Buffalo Brian Quick WR Appalachian St. - A favorite of mine, Quick has big-time size and can stretch the field. Buffalo lacks a true deep threat.

    Hard to argue, isn't it!

Draft these guys, sign them up, and go to the playoffs!!

    Simple, huh!

  3. If Fitz, who I believe just doesn't have the arm to get the job done, can't get us to the superbowl there are still ways to get a good good QB without drafting in the top ten, because I doubt we will be there any time soon. A top QB could acquired if a Good QB has an injury and his team doesn't want him anymore like Peyton and Brees. Maybe Roethlisberger gets killed again behind that line cuz they need upgrades everywhere but center and they can't do it in one year. Or guys like Mallett or Skelton become trade bait, really wish we would have drafted Mallett over Sheppard and am really Glad we got Ed Wang and Levi Brown over Skelton. Then there is the Chance that we get a mid round prospect that becomes a star like Joe Montana and Brady, Guys like Kirk Cousins, Brock Osweiler, B.J. Coleman and Nick Foles.

My greatest hope is Fitz turns into Drew Brees but if that doesn't happen we are going to need an upgrade at the QB position.

Go back to sleep for awhile. We WILL go into the playoffs this year, and probably past the first round or two.

This is a solid team, my friend, and Fitzpatrick can take us where we need to go. Keep in mind, he started off the year great last year before suffering cracked ribs.

  4. We are picking Reiff/DeCastro in round 1. If they are both gone that would be quite a bad thing but one or both should still be there . There are 15-20 receivers in this draft with good talent. There are not very many starting tackles. Take the lineman or you don't get one.. Simple as that.

I suppose you're right, but then again imagine drafting a decent OT at #2 and a WR like Floyd at #1. Pretty big nightmare for opposing defenses, wouldn't you say?

Four WR set and we throw Floyd, Johnson, Nelson, and Easley at them in a 4 WR set. Well, who is going to cover all those guys.......................answer is no team can!!

  5. The reason I've had trouble fully getting behind the idea to take Floyd at 10, despite the fact that he's supposed to be as good as Blackmon on tape, is the depth at the WR class this year. What happens if WRs are the BPAs in the second or third round? Do you stock up on WRs? Reach for a player with lower value? ::shrug::

O have to say that's a tough one. I cannot really make up my mind between WR and OT for #1 pick, much less which WR to take.

    Best WR then OT #2

    or

    best OT then WR #2

    ???

  6. We are picking Reiff/DeCastro in round 1. If they are both gone that would be quite a bad thing but one or both should still be there . There are 15-20 receivers in this draft with good talent. There are not very many starting tackles. Take the lineman or you don't get one.. Simple as that.

Beginning to look like OT or WR in the 1st round alright, leaning toward OT now that Bell has resigned elsewhere.

Anyway you look at it, though, we have an upgrade over last year.

  7. I believe it would be in the best interest of the team to re-sign Demetrius Bell, our starting left tackle from last season. Our offensive line really worked well together, even with the rash of injuries, giving up the fewest sacks I can recall in recent memory. It would also stop the decade long "develope and watch them leave" approach to our left tackle position. We can then use our draft to build up our depth at linebacker, cornerback, wide receiver, and tackle. Heck, we can throw in a few more pass rushers while we're at it. I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd or Kirkpatrick picked at 10 if we're not sold on the available tackles.

I concur! Now let's convince people over at 1 Bills Drive and we're all set. OK? You first!

  8. You never can have too many pass rushers! And Gmen wrote the book on how to beat Pats. Go Mario!

That's hard to argue against, and I won't, but I'm thinking that we've made defensive improvements to start off with so how about an offensive player? Anyone for WR? There are a couple of good ones, one of whom will certainly be available; and wouldn't that really round out an explosive Offense!

  9. Anyone hear this interview on Sirius? Sims looked at a bunch of tape on several on the quarterbacks that are in the draft, and the Tannehill comments were interesting. He said that Tannehill played in the most pro-style offense compared to all the others. Tannehill made a lot of sideline throws, going for single coverage. I'm guessing Sims is referring to the deep out route. Sims wouldn't guess where he'd go in the draft, however Kerwin had him going to Miami. That would help our chances of someone we like falling to 10.

Could be he surprises everyone and turns out to be the top QB in the draft. Don't scoff! Remember Brady? Round #6 pick!

  10. Lately, it seems that Poe has been losing steam, that despite being a freakish athlete, he has very pedestrian on tape in a small conference (5 sacks total, only one this past year). Mayock even has him as the 4th highest DT. Hill, on the other hand, has been gaining steam, with some people saying that even though he's raw, he can still win 1-on-1 match-ups in the red zone and catch the deep ball immediately, leading to a good number of TDs for a rookie.

Now, I'm not saying that both of them, or even one of them will still be on the board when we're on the clock in the second round, but my question for all of you is this: if both of them are still on the board in round 2, which do you take and why? Do you even take either? Do you pass on both? Let me know what you think.

Wasted pick....better served by drafting other positions of real need i.e. OT, WR, LB, CB

  11. Have been going back and forth between LT and WR. With D. Bell still not finding a team there remains a possibly he might come back.

Since we did such a great job on D so far this offseason I think the offense will get a new toy. So my first round pick would be....

    Micheal Floyd WR

Fitz needs another WR to take pressure off of Stevie. Plus he can catch balls when hes not really open. Think he will be the choice only if D.Bell is resigned. Imagine if you will Stevie, Fred, CJ, Floyd, Nelson on the field at the same time sweet.

    My alternate picks would be...

    Courtney Upshaw LB Alabama

    Luke Kuechly LB Boston College

    J. Martin LT Stanford

    I kind of like Floyd.

I'm thinking that when we line up 4 WRs; Johnson - Floyd - Nelson - Easley

Somebody want to tell me what team is going to cover those 4 guys. Duh...answer is with a little bit of blocking, no team!

  12. Patriots have a 62-41-1 overall record against us.

Jets have a 49-53 overall record against us.

Dolphins have a 55-38-1 overall record against us.

The Patriots and the Dolphins pretty much own us but for some strange reason my hate for the Patriots have declined just a bit and I find myself hating the Jets more and more.

Even though we have an overall winning record against the Jets, due to the recent hiring of Rex and a couple players, I voted Jets.

I hate the Jets because of...because of...because of...oh yeah, I believe his name is Mister Ryan.

  13. I believe it would be in the best interest of the team to re-sign Demetrius Bell, our starting left tackle from last season. I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd or Kirkpatrick picked at 10 if we're not sold on the available tackles.

Sounds like good, logical, and sound reasoning to resign him. Problem is; we won't!

  14. Interesting stuff. I personally believe all of it.

Gailey wanted to run a lot more of it last year, including Smith throwing more but didnt get the chances he wanted. It will play a significant role this year I think, especially with David Lee adding his expertise, albeit his strength was in the two RB running version. If they can combine the two, especially with Smith's abilities, it could be fun as a change-up the way Chan envisioned it, and likely the major reason they convinced Smith to sign.

Smith can run it alright, it's just that as we all know their was no training before camp last year leaving them up a tree for new ideas.

  15. 1st Round, 10th Pick – Buffalo trades pick to Cardinals for 13th pick and 3rd Round pick #80, so Cardinals can draft David DeCastro before the Chiefs. With the 13th pick in the draft the Bills select Cordy Glenn, G/T, Georgia

2nd Round, 41st Pick - Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska

3rd Round, 71st Pick – Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State

3rd Round, 80th Pick from Cardinals – Marvin Jones, WR, California

4th Round, 105th Pick – Dwight Bentley, CB, Louisiana - Lafayette

4th Round, 124th Pick from Baltimore – Andrew Datko, OT, Florida State

5th Round, 144th Pick – Tank Carder, ILB, TCU

5th Round, 147th Pick from Seattle – David Molk, C, Michigan

    6th Round, 175th Pick – Matt Daniels, S, Duke

7th Round, 215th Pick – Justin Bethel, CB Presbyterian

7th Round, 251st Pick - Adrian Hamilton, DE, Prairie View A&M

They just have to make up their minds...is their someone they have definitely targeted at #10? If not, trade down!

Simple scenario, but the Bills seldom trade down.

  16. Lets bring some pessimism back to these parts!

Since the Mario signing, and the Anderson signing to a lesser extent, I think it's safe to say that the overwhelming majority of us have at least allowed ourselves to imagine grabbing a 6 seed next season, and for one glorious weekend, being part of the NFL playoff conversation. It would definitely be fun, and there's little doubt in my mind it can happen. Hell, I've said it in many threads, and I'll say it again here: New England is old, and on a decline, despite making the super bowl. We could easily WIN the division outright next year, and host a playoff game (or 2?) at the Ralph.

But let's look deeper than that. What are you worried about with this club? And please - take the "They're going to move to LA" talk to another thread. Theyre not moving.

Personally, my biggest concern is at quarterback.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is amazing - my favorite player on the team by far, and the first professional athlete since John Starks of the 1998 New York Knicks that I can 100% root for and feel like he's not just doing it because "it's his job." He's a great underdog story, a good interview, seems like a funny guy, and the story that after home games he goes back to his house with his wife and grills with his neighbors is awesome, and shows why buffalo is the most bad ass team in the NFL.

But. In the back of my mind, im fairly certain that he is not a quarterback that can win a super bowl for this team. As hard as it is to admit, when you look at the list of super bowl winning quarterbacks in the league right now (the Mannings, Brady, Rothlisberger, Breese, et. al) Fitzpatricks name doesnt belong up there by a long shot.

With that being said, what really worries me is this: We have acquired the talent now to not be a perpetual 6-10, 7-9 team - but rather the perpetual 10-6, 11-5 team. The one that loses in heart breaking fashion in the divisional round, or maybe the conference finals if we have a lights out defense and amazing drafts the next 2 years. We won't be drafting in the top 3 for a LONG time. Essentially, we have absolutely no way to ever aquire an elite QB to go with this defense.

So my biggest concern - we are now the San Diego Chargers East. The team that looks great every offseason, but just can never. get. over. the. hump.

I am not worried about QB. I think Fitz will do a fine job this year with all the other offensive pieces in place and finally good health.

I worry about injuries first of all and then probably the CB position. I like them, but...

  17. who do you think will be this years breakout players?

My pick for offense is Marcus Easley and on defense because he is back to his natural position is Alex Carrington... that is if they can stay healthy

I big time second it on Easley. I have been (im)patiently waiting for him to debut for 2 yrs now and believe he has a chance to make it big.

6'2", 220lbs, 4.46 40 dash, and this will be his 3rd training camp. I look for big things from him!

  18. Miles Burris.

From SDSU, this kid is prime.

Sorry to have posted no information but his name before.

I have a couple of good friends who go to SDSU and for the last couple of years have been raving about this linebacker there, Miles Burris.

    Burris pic: http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~cba/news-online/11-Sept/Burris.jpg

Burris is a linebacker from California (6-2, 245) who played for SDSU.

As a junior, Burris was named to the all-MWC first team while also being the Mountain West's sack and tackles-for-a-loss leader (2010). He recorded team-leading totals in tackles (80), tackles for a loss (20) and sacks (9.5).

Leading into the 2011 campaign in what was his senior year, Burris was the fourth Aztec to be named to the preseason Lombardi Watch list which includes current Bills' linebacker, Kirk Morrison (2003 and 2004).

As an FYI, the annual Rotary Lombardi Award honors the top lineman in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Eligibility for the award is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense or defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage.

On to 2011: Burris was once again selected to the All-Mountain West Conference First Team for a second straight year (voters include the eight head coaches and a select media panel). He is the first Aztec to do so since, you guessed it, Kirk Morrison (2002-2004).

The senior leads the Aztecs in tackles (72), tackles for loss (19.0), sacks (8.0) and fumble recoveries (3). He ranks eighth in the country in tackles for a loss (1.58/g), tied for 19th in fumble recoveries (0.25/g) and tied for 32nd in sacks (0.67/g). Burris has at least 0.5 tackles for a loss in 18 of the past 19 games. - San Diego State football

Misc. points: he was captain of the Aztecs his senior year, he is a four-time MWC all-academic honoree and was the SDSU student-athlete of the year in 2010 and 2011.

The kid is bright, he's fast, explosive and physical.

For the YouTube lovers, I have a link below to some highlights.

    youtube.com/watch?v=RtlONCH8jPA

    ENJOY TWO BILLS DRIVE!

P.S. Note all his reverse stops! I feel like the Bills got killed on many reverses in 2010 and 2011, this kids got it down.

Guys like that you just pick, but not too high, and train and hope.

  19. I am one of the biggest bills fan on here and this is my honest 7 round mock draft for the Buffalo Bills

Round 1 - WR Michael Floyd- There are analyst saying he is better than justin blackmon. We need offensive weapons point blank.

Round 2 - CB Alfonzo Denard - He is a thick Cb that ran 4.5 at 205 pounds. Can cover bigger receivers and comes from a good program at Nebraska

Round 3 - OLB Nigel Bradham - Five star high school prospect who flys around the field and makes feroucoius tackles. Not much of a rusher but can cover TE really well and hold is own at OLB.

Round 4 - OT Matt Mccants - Not really a project guy which is a good thing. He started all 4 years at UAB. Has the size at 6'6 that buddy nix likes. True sleeper pick.

Round 4b- OLB Kennan Robinson- Has the Aldon smith type build and qualaties. 6'3 242 was a beast at texas Another sleeper pick.

Round 5 - Cb Ryan Steed - Small school cornerback Ryan Steed out of Furman. Very physical corner. Has some outstanding ball skills.

Round 5b- QB BJ Coleman - Small school Qb out of Chattanooga. 6'3 and can sling it. I really really like this pick and hope the bills draft him!

Round 6 - OT Levy Adcock -Willing to attack and punches multiple times to finish the play. Quick to pick up edge blitz and shows no panic, easily adjusting angles and resetting his feet. Solid Pickup

Round 7 - WR Dale Moss - Former basketball player 6'3 ran a 4.5. He is a project but can be a good player if patient

Round 7b - DE/OLB Adrian Hamilton - Another small school guy. High motor. Has potential to be a freak on the outside.

I like Floyd alright, after that I'm a bit lukewarm.

  20.

Really? Did you just try to redefine (or dismiss) the definition of average?

"In fact the 'average career' is weighed down by th e (sic) huge number of guys who pass through the league for a season or two" ... uh, that's why it's called an average. In case you wondered, the definition of average is: "an estimation of or approximation to an arithmetic mean". You can't just dismiss the numbers you don't like (or the ones that refute your entire point) when compiling an average.

"Very few players, relative to the total, end their careers by injury" This is something you just made up.

And what about the many players, 99, who sign contracts just to fill in for a week or 2, and really might never play. They are in fact NFL players and if I have my math straight, they bring the averages down. Hey, I mean all you have to do is go down the roster of your favorite team and you'll see that the average is in fact NOT 3.5 years.

I took the Bills roster, divided it up, and came up with an avg of 5.8 yrs per player. Lower than I thought, but not 3.5.

  21. I think we target a trade with a Washington. They're picking 10th and they may very well want to leapfrog AZ and San Fran. Harabaugh and Shanahan probably want the same type of QB. To move back 7 spots, we'd likely pickup the 41st pick to go along with the 10th. That looks pretty good to me. 3 picks in the top 41. We could rebuild our front 7 before we even made our 3rd round pick. I see this more as a deep draft than I do a high-end talent type anyways. I'd go defensive end, inside linebacker, and outside linebacker unless a big time O-tackle fell to us at some point.

    Looks good to me, boozer.

  22. I simulated a draft giving equal priority for all 8 of the Bills' needs---QB, RT, LT, OLB, TE, WR, DE, and NT.

Sorry but I couldn't go any farther after reading our needs from your post.

I disagree with QB, LT, TE (we don't target the TE often because of need for pass protection), WR, and NT.

The players that we have at those positions rank from avg to pretty darned good.

Your analysis is a bit too negative for my blood.
