  1. For me the strangest part of the play was that I didn't see a Dolphin within 20 yards of where the ball landed. On a 63 yard FG attempt, should you not have a return man in the endzone ready to catch the ball and attempt a run back? Maybe I just didn't see him.

If you watch the replay you could see they were totally off-guard. They thought the half was over, remember? Then they certainly didn't expect the long FG try. They were still getting organized when the ball was snapped.

Wow. Does it violate some sort of rule to pick Green Bay next week?

  3. Just watched it a few seconds ago. He didn't miss by much. It bounced directly in front of the end zone line, so maybe three yards, four at the most (although hard to say without a side view of the attempt). Love the decision though. I'm surprised they were even given the opportunity, really. Johnson was going down as the clock went to 0:01, not sure how they got that timeout in.

  4. I forgot about the gameday roster vs the 53 man roster. However as you point out, Mitchell is looking doubtful and Torbor is injured too…and regardless I think Coleman has a ton of potential as a pass rusher. So I'll stick with my notion that Antonio Coleman might be among our leading sackers.

I disagree with this one. DeMarcus Ware is a rare athlete. In fact, I've heard some commentators say that he is virtually unblockable unless you throw a back or a tight end at him.

Ellis doesn't play with abandon…effort yes…abandon no. He doesn't seem very explosive although he seems like a good athlete. There's no aspect of Ellis' game which really stands out. Nearly all pass rushers have a forte…one thing they do very well. That's why I think Maybin has the best chance to lead us in sacks.

BTW, did John Cocktosten accuse someone of being bitter? That's funny.

Did someone honestly just compare Chris Ellis to DeMarcus Ware? Was that serious?

And SJ, you had me until you said Maybin was going to lead the team in sacks this season. I don't suppose you'd like to bet on that...?

The 3-4 usually brings someone on a blitz, I'm hoping we can get pressure with the three man push cover with eight

    Now THAT'S a pipe dream.

  5. I'll admit it. This thread is a bit negative but I think it's necessary.

The lack of accountability that people have for their stated positions and their crusades is truly amazing.

Recall the clamor and hysteria of some of the posters here as we got closer to cut down day. The din was deafening. At one time two weeks ago, we had 5 different threads about the quarterback situation on page one alone.

Lots of our members were just totally adamant AND VOCAL about what they thought was going to happen/what they wanted to have happen to the Bills roster (the two often get confused in some people's minds).

Those same people are conspicuous by their silence now…especially on matters such as which quarterbacks would made the roster.

So who said what and where are those people now?

I remember more than a few guarantees that Kawika Mitchell was going to get cut. Ditto for Chris Kelsay.

Where are all those folks who were positive that Levi Brown was gonna be kept as the third quarterback and not waived?

Where are all the Brian Brohm haters? The Fitzy haters?

Now's the time to confess to the error of your ways. The truth will liberate you!

Man up and be accountable for your opinions.

Or quietly close out of this thread and pretend you didn't read it.

This is my favorite thread in some time, since probably the Tim Graham thread (/sarcasm). I believe a week or so ago I mentioned something about this board having no accountability and that being one of the biggest problems. Most of you don't like me around here because you don't like my attitude, that I'm a "know-it-all." I can live with that. But that's only the case with a few things. Football happens to be one of them. That being said, I think I hit more than I missed. Where was I wrong? Where was I right? Well...

QB: The Brohm-lovers went overboard for the better part of the summer without a single reason to back it up. I predicted he would not be our starter opening day. After watching him against Indy I predicted he would make the roster as a backup. Again, there was more insanity over Levi Brown, yet he entered the fourth game of the preseason 5-for-12 for 38 yards and a pick, yet the belief was that we "couldn't risk" trying to put him on the practice squad. That was, of course, pretty stupid, and I predicted he would get cut. I predicted they'll PS him, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I haven't seen anything from him - besides a super-strong arm - that would warrant it.

RB: Spiller, Jackson, and Lynch were no-brainers, and no one expected to see Chad Simpson make the roster. But I did think J. Bell would make the roster, in light of Jackson's injury. I figured they would cut him once Jackson returned and look to put him on the PS, but they didn't even bother.

WR: I predicted Chad Jackson would be cut, David Nelson would make the roster, and Johnson would win the #2 by default. 3-for-3. I thought Hardy might make the roster, but made a point of saying if he did it would be on potential alone, that he hadn't shown anything this pre-season (or ever, really) and that it wouldn't surprise me if he was cut. So there I am, not surprised. What I was surprised at was the fact that we kept Donald Jones. My only thought is that we kept him for special teams, because I haven't seen him do a thing this pre-season. In fact, all he did against Detroit was drop passes.

TE/OL: I didn't make any predictions regarding TE or the offensive line that I remember. No surprises there, of course. Cornell Green still sucks, but there was no way he was getting cut (unfortunately).

DL/LB: I said I wouldn't be surprised if Kelsay was cut (since he was learning a new position and he really didn't belong as a LB), but I didn't think he would be. I definitely thought McCargo would make the team - he's made a few plays this pre-season. With McCargo and Kelsay as the frequent whipping boys here on the DL, there weren't many other bold predictions to make. The only thing I'm really surprised about is that we only kept 2 NT's - K. Williams and Troup. If one goes down we're going to be asking a lot of the other to take all the snaps at NT during the former's absence. Also, the thought of K. Mitchell getting cut was absurd. We are too lacking at that position in talent to cut him, far too lacking. Moats should be an OLB, not an ILB IMO.

DB: The Lankster cut was no surprise, if you read my previous posts. Reggie Corner has got to be the last CB on the depth chart, behind Youboty as the dime-back. Maybe he'll play in "prevent" situations? Concerning the safeties, the only surprise to me was that Jon Corto was still on the roster. I honestly had no idea. And that the Harrises made it - Cary had a chance I figured, but I didn't (and still don't) know who Dominique Harris even is (although he didn't last long, I guess).

There it is folks, take it or leave it.

  6. Your splitting hair and talking semantics. Of course the Bills drafted players and addressed needs. That's what a draft is...If you reread my post the whole theme of the post was regarding the Spiller pick. That pick clearly wasn't an address the team needs pick. Clearly, it was the BPA which has merit if the pick couldn't be traded. SO not addressing the needs was referring to that pick as well as IMHO picking Wang and Levi Brown. I have a hard time believing either pick will amount to anything substantial. You turned the argument into a macro viewpoint on the Bills whole draft. Once again, you are distorting the facts and I am here to correct you. I must say this causes me much pleasure. Also, in case you haven't noticed, people don't always reply to every single point of a person's post, comment, or question. Just like you did with my post. You choose to address two out of six points. Should I "hammer" you for not replying to all my points in my post?

With me you have never had an open mind. Your close minded attitude is loud and clear. I really could careless but don't try to take the high road now. Many posters have given me compliments on my change of behavior and solid logical posts. You seem to be stuck in the past and look to go on the offensive anytime you can. In fact, I would venture to say you go trolling looking to call someone a troll. Talk about hypocrisy...

Have a great day and lets hope the Bills can make a playoff appearance soon.

Excuse me...if you're not going to analyze them, how can you criticize them? And by the way, we don't need to assess whether or not those players will work out -- the whole point is that you criticized the Bills for NOT ADDRESSING NEEDS. Those needs were in fact addressed -- it's the end result we don't yet know.

I start with an open mind; it becomes closed once a person has routinely exhibited a certain type of behavior. I'm sure I'll continue to peruse your posts along the way; if you give me any reason to change my opinion I'll let you know.

    Are you two dating??

Every year I get excited about the Bills. Deep down I know they wont make the playoffs let alone a SB. This year started out the same as many others have. Excitment and inthusiasdum for our team. The one thing that is different from years past...I am still excited! After seeing the amazing skills Spiller has I am 100% excited. I think he was the perfect pick for us and I applause Buddy for drafting him! I think he has and will continue to make the Bills a better team. I give much credit to Mr. Gaily aswell, i know its preseason and we have seen Trent play like this before. I belive he has a new intrest in the game of football. The past cpl years he didnt look interested. He looks like he is having fun now. He looks like he could lead a team right now. I am excited about our offense for the first time since the 90's! We are on the rise in the NFL! GO BILLS!!!

P.S. Sorry if my spelling is bad...i have been drinking, that may be the reason for my intusiasum too!!

Deep down? Does that mean superficially you think this team left in total disarray after the last season and a half, a team admittedly in rebuilding mode, might make the playoffs?

More importantly...you've been drinking? It's not even 1:30 in the afternoon yet! Tell me you're in Europe right now or something...

  7. A second next year and a third in 2012. Not bad. His salary demands are a drawback. But imagine a lineup with Evans, Jackson, Roscoe, Jackson, Spiller. Thats ridiculous!

You must be confusing this team with the New York Yankees. Going out and effectively buying established stars is not the way to build a winner in the NFL. Nor is it even respectable. I'm all for adding talent at reasonable prices (I think Adalius Thomas would be a great addition), but develop your superstars.

  8. Yeah, except we said the same thing last year sans Spiller, look where that got us. You're going to pay two WR's top dollar? For a run-based offense with a mediocre-at-best QB, one who still hasn't even been named the starter? Bad idea. Why not develop your players? There are two hundred WR's on the roster right now, will one of them not develop into a #2?

  9. My other screen name choice was Dr. Rosenrosen

If you're a Fletch fan, this link will give you a good laugh!

!@#$ing. Classic. The Fletch movies were the best comedies ever made with very, very few exceptions. Great reference.

I just sold my car on craigslist and the brakes were shot. As I said to the guy who bought it, "if you want to stop, you got to think ahead!"

Did you hear about the third Fletch movie they were going to do with Zach Banff (sp?) from Scrubs and the Scrubs director? It was supposed to be the prequel to the first Fletch movie. Had they turned Fletch into an hour and a half episode of Fletch I would have gone Primal Rage/Aaron Maybin all over again...

  10. Good. Hopefully the team uses it as motivation. Look at it this way - either Tannenbaum is right and the kick the crap out of us, or we shut them up. It will be interesting either way. But there's no way I could hate the Jets more than Dallas or New England. Not even close.
