MIT to pennington or brohm or fitz id keep captain check down another year than those clowns...mcnabb and vick are 10x better than a fragile qb with a noodle arm(pennigton) a worthless 2rd rounder who couldnt make gb's practice squad (brohm) and a journeyman qb who cant throw more than 200 yards more than 2x a season (fitz)...so how in the hell are those 3 a stop gap i wouldnt let them teach me to blow my nose.. yeah, but all that happened many years ago. if he was racking up those kind of results now, the argument changes. As it is he would not be a viable long term solution. in order to create the next franchise qb we need to get a good teaching veteran in here in have a college draft to study under. For obvious reasons Vick isn't that kind of leader/teacher that would set up the franchise. unfortunately with the position in question moral issues can not be 100% ruled out. Trent lost his position because he was not viewed as a leader by the team. When drafted a qb not just the numbers have to be looked at. As is Vick has weak numbers, his achievements are 5 years old and he can not necessarily be trusted to be a leader/teacher.
Also, keep in mind, this season is the first time the Falcons have ever had back to back winning seasons. Vick didn't put up a lot of Ws either.
And i agree with you on that, it was many moons ago..But id rather take a chance on a guy that has shown he can win and be successful rather than giving the keys to a rookie or journeyman qb. Vick was a leader did you see guys with the vick #7 black eye work (crumpler, dunn, joe horn and others wore it) cuz that was there leader. And now that he has something to prove he'll lead 10x harder... Atl has a much better team now then they had then, how many times have they been to the playoffs since he left??? who else can go into there old stadium with a new team, get cheered when he scores, then get your name chanted in that stadium to come in and play when the hometeam is getting blown out...come on he was the face of a city let alone a team.....thats what i want for my team....
Oh yea comparing trent to mike is like comparing a one legged female hopcotch champ to a playboy model with the IQ of stephen hawking....

it all comes down to he being a genuinely unimpressive qb. beyond the inaccuracy issue; he has barely played in what, 3-4 years? it's telling that Philly brought him in only as a gimmick. look at his stats in ATL. Even in his prime he was rocking a qb rating in the middle 70s. he is also prone to fumbling, something he even did on Saturday's game. Sure he can run around if the pocket folds, but being able to escape into a short run, a fumble or an incompletion? that doesn't really help.
here's the rub: he had a name several years ago and he threw that promise away. people want him here because he had a name several years ago. now he's past his prime (threw only six completions this season) and would be brought here as a gimmick. it would be like drafting a midget or a guy with one hand--a circus freak to seel tickets. but he wouldn't win games, he wouldn't be a long term investment and would alienate a chunk of the fans.
Everyone plays this as a moral issue, but he just isn't good enough.

Lynch has his most value in his current situation.
We arent going to get any type of draft pick that is worth trading for. Plus, we'd just have to go find another RB anyways.
Lynch had 2 1000 yard seasons, and was a beast of a back, before this past season.
If we are REALLY serious about getting the most out of him, we'll tell him to come back 15-20 pounds lighter, get a real OLine in front of him/Jackson, and get a real coaching staff who know how to use him and Jackson effectively.
he may have "worn out his welcome around here", but here is a message board. I understand that most people from Buffalo havent seen anyone like him before (dreads and gold teeth are scary). But we are better off just keeping him on the team and concentrating on areas of REAL need.

Exactly. John Murphy, Mark Kelso and Chris Brown (buffalobills.com guy) were just here in Atlanta for a Q&A session, and they were adamant that Vick is not the QB that he was years ago, and he never was a good passer. They said the Bills would not be pursuing him.

If the Bills sign Vick, season tickets will sell faster than ever. I agree with everyone who says he's a scumbag for what he's done. It was terrible, what he's done. Do you think Ravens fans dropped their tickets after they let Ray Lewis play after murdering someone? I doubt it. And for each person saying they'll stop rooting for the Bills, there will be 10 more to take your place. Back before Vick signed with Philly, I was one of those saying I'd find another team if Buffalo signed him. But why give one person that much power? Vick isn't bigger than any team. He's one person. And if he comes to Buffalo, I'm sure as hell not going to run out and buy a number 7 jersey. But I'll still be rooting for my TEAM to win ever Sunday. Like I said, what he did was disgusting and horrible. But let's put it into perspective a little bit. He didn't rape or murder any people. I have 2 cats and a dog. He did kill dogs though. In fact he electrocuted dogs, hung dogs, drown dogs, and smashed them to death off of asphalt. I like how people overlook his other favorite activities as well. Like knowingly passing along his gift of herpes to women while using an alias to mask his nastiness. His vehicles have been used for drug trafficking and his crew has been involved in a number of assault charges. Vick has been present for alot of these instances as well, so lets not pretend he was unaware.
When people say they don't want him here it's for good reason. It has nothing to do with race either, but nice try. This board would be in full meltdown mode if Mcnabb was coming here. The truth is Vick was not half the player some people believe he was. So if you have chosen to forgive him, it still might not make sense. If it were the same circumstances for a HOF QB like Manning or Brady, the risk might be worth the reward. The same can be said for Mcnabb if that example comforts you more.

The QB ratings aren't everything but it's a good start in comparing.
You know you must be the first person to actually make sense when they speak rather than go off raw emotional sometimes personal feelings on this subject...nobody has ever said what mike did was rite he was completely wrong by doing those things.
