  1. I agree and there are several other leagues like the CFL, UFL, Arena League etc-they may not pay the same, oh well
  2. Well let me see there is the CFL, UFL, Arena Football, etc. The pays different, but its still football and they still GET PAID-go to another league if your not happy
  3. There are thousands of companies that produce one unique product and/or very limited products, just like the NFL.
  4. NFL Network discussed Andre Johnsons contract and stated that the majority of the money was up front, meaning he already received it, this skews your view that he is underpaid. The upfront money needs to be looked at to make a true comparison. The Texans also renegotiated his rookie contract paying him more than he got as a #1 draft choice. In the near future another WR will sign a huge contract and the guy will hold out again. In this economy I have little sympathy for a player.
  5. Out of the two rookies Moats is supposed to be played inside and Batten outside. Small school kids who aot of analysts considered real solid sleeper picks. Hopefully one or both of those guys pan out, at the very least they should provide good depth.
  6. Does anyone know the specifics? Was it his biological sister, 1/2 sister? What was the age difference? What sort of sentence did he get? Did he have any type of additional misconduct after the offense?
  7. I agree good points. With the league the way it is now-murder, drugs, rapes, animal cruelty (glad Goodell has been tougher). He paid his debt, this didnt happen yesterday-he's been clean over 7 years. He obviously came from a pretty screwed up family enviornment in the first place, give him a break. I'd feel differently if it was not consensual and if he had any sort of pattern of other misconduct, it appears not.
  8. Modrak is the only holdover from the Donahoe era, that in and of itself pushes me to hope he's dropped after the season. I agree he's not the sole person to blame but he shares some culpability, to act like he had no impact for the ten years he has been here is ridiculous.
  9. A kid I'd keep my eye on is OT Jared Veldheer, bet this kid will go in the 2nd, probably mid to late but he's a great small school LT prospect
  10. Good draft! I'd only say I dont think Skelton will be there when we pick in the 4th
  11. Id love to see the Bills trade down late enough to pick up an additional second rounder. Im not sure Morgan or Iupati would be there in the twenties. We'd still have to address the tackl positon with Iupati as the left takle spot still pretty wide open. I think we need to take a left tackle prospect in the top 2 rounds, Iupati or not. Iupati and a decent left tackl prospect would certainly improve our o-line.
  12. Does anyone have insight or seen Veldheer play? From what I've seen he reminds me a little of the Pats selection last year Sebastian Volmeer, another small school prospect. Volmeer played pretty well last year and has an outstanding future, the Pats took him a little early but the kids playing extremely well. I think Veldheer gives the Bills a possible (2nd or 3rd round)OT prospect with alot of upside for the left side. I guarantee there going to be a tackle or two taken after the first round whos going to outplay at least one or two of the top 4 tackles-who knows if we dont get one in the first lets hope we strike gold in a later round.
  13. The fact on that trial is they moved the trial to an area in order ot get more blacks on the jury-some of whom did mention that race played a role in them dismissing the case
  14. The facts are that the Bills have been losers the last 10 years-the two consistent employees are Modrak and Guy-half of the equation is already gone in GUY the other half is Modrak. I guess you must have some insde information that Modraks has been doing a great job and that he recommended all the guys we missed on picking and didnt have anything to do with the bad picks. Lets see if Buddy fires Modrak tomorrow and see what you say. And if you have anything that supports your statement that his "superiors ignored his recommendations" lets hear it.
  15. I'm not writing an editorial to the Buffalo news so get off the high horse. It obviously started off in narrative fashion...for the first sentence
  16. Sorry, when I wrote guy I meant fella, person etc. and was referring to Modrak. Not Guy the pro personel ex employee I responded to moving his butt up to NY in a lower post.
  17. The difference is he is the HEAD Scout, and has been the HEAD scout for TEN straight losing years. He should be compiling info and working hand in hand with Buddy in Buffalo, not via conference calls. If we had a great, or even competitive team, maybe I'd listen to you. But the ten years of drafting crap we've been through is ridiculous. If the guy wont move then he has no commitment to the team anyway. Plus Western NY isnt exactely thriving financially, I'd rather see the money he makes spent in Western NY and not Jacksonville FL.
  18. Like the multiple picks-i agree-plus trade Lynch if we could get a third or second rounder
  19. The guy was never interview for the position, what do you expect him to say? If he said yes, absolutely, then not get the position he'd probably lose leverage when another opportuniy presented itself. I think if Buddy wanted him he would be here.
  20. Buddy, They say you are a football guy... period, you dont care abou ticket sales, etc. GREAT thats what Brandon is for. Good luck... If you listen to Scott Pioli he STRONGLY considered Chan Gailey for the KC job but felt it would be a hire that wouldnt sell tickets. Pioli has been widely successfull wih NE and was a cornerstone of their Superbowls along with their hall of fame HC. (There have been several other coaches and GM's who think very highly of Gailey as a HC, he's just not the popular choice right now). If thats the case for me it lessens the questions I have had about the Gailey hire slightly, If Pioli made the decision NOT to hire Gailey based on ticket sales, but felt he was a great HC candidaite, maybe, just maybe, Buddy did what we havent seen in a long time. Someone making a sound decision. Sure theres a few guys who turned down interviews and several who wanted interviews but were turned down by Buddy. In the end it appears to me he made a decison based on winning games and going with his instincts, lets hope he's right.
  21. Buddy first off good luck, and a two quick points 1)With the senior bowl looming I would think you would be getting you head scouts in position, hopefully both Modrak and Guy will be fired. There may be some behind the scenes reasons you would decide to keep them, frankly I'd like to hear them. Regarding Modrak specifically, if you decide to keep the guy as the head of colledge scouting make the guy show some commitment and move to Western NY. I can't believe that a team that has been in the dumps as long as Buffalo has been (10 years and as long as Modrak has been employed!!) would allow a guy that important to continue to live in Jacksonville FL, have him work for the Jags then. Change things up versus the same status quo. Sure there may be other team that allow a man in his position to live elsewhere, but those teams were and are winners and not serving the same garbage to the fans for ten years. Make a change! 2) Buddy,on a side note, maybe you had he guts to take a risk on a non-sexy pick in Chan Gailey. If Scott Pioli (Great success in New England) thought he'd be a great head coach, but didn't hire him soley because it wouldnt sell tickets, then applause to you for being a football guy and not a marketer (leave that to Brandon).
  22. Good post-very informative. While I'd like Clausen at 9 to, I also doubt he will be there, so who would you target first through 3rd rounds?
