The tornado that hit Cheektowaga in 1987 touched down about two miles away from the airport and lifted off about a half mile away from the end of the cleared approach area before the airport. The traffic had been held because the line of T-storms approaching. It was not detected until the tower saw it. The one mentioned above could have just dropped down and disappeared quickly. Most of these crashes are due to poor maintenance or pilot error.

When I lived in the SF Bay area, I worked in Alameda (where the "nuclear wessels" were) and lived about 30 mies or so away.The closer places where dangerousad more expensive. One way was 30 mies and the other was 35 miles. The shorter route took longer to drive I took ne at least 45 min to get to work. Would get in at about 10 and work til about 6 because if left at at 8, I would still get there close to 10. Avoided the rush hour. Told the boss about it and she agreed and had no problems.
Later with a different job, I had to go to a job site and a CHiPs officer was gunned down on the interstate just before the second exit ahead. They closed both directions (10 lanes total). I heard about it on the radio just before I got to the exit before it. Goy off and had to take the surface roads (mostly 2 lanes)to the site maybe 2-3 mies away Took me 2 hours.

UB has a stadium.
They won't be tearing he stadium down two months after the Bils stop using it. More like 14 months. The Bills leave hopefully Jan 2026 They will start tearing it down March 2027. They will be stripping the bench seats plumbing, etc. for recycling. My brother works for the county DPW and they wi be using some of their trucks. The will be filling the hole in with crushed slate and dirt that are currently sitting at ECC. when that's done they can start razing ECC.

English was my worst subject in HS (except for gym). Thank god for the invention of proofreading in Word, etc. That was part of me having a 92 average for 4 years of HS, Plus the fxn in this board didn't pick it up.

Yes we can afford it with the waste Elon is finding. The Bicentennial was when Ford was POTUS and we had bad inflation (but not as and as when Caeter was POTUS) and we afforded it then. Had celebrations in EVERY town. All the church bells in the country rang at noon local time on July4,1976. That was amazing to hear.

My mom had it done when she was 91, Had bifocals before but needed only reading glasses after. That changed my uneasiness about getting it done. I'm going to the same doctor. She stopped driving at about age 86 or 87 when she saw on the news that someone killed a person by driving into a restaurant and she didn't;t want to do that to someone.

Mea culpa, Frank. I looked on my iPhone. The high, low and close text are smaller and fainter than the #s (I also need cataract surgery). I saw a 1,354 that ran off the screen. That was the volume. I thought that was the gain. No comments about my eyesight. I was going to get them done last fall, but was recovering from my transplant and I had to get a new car. Made an appt for the initial screening for the cataracts and that will be in June. They said they will probably do them this fall.
