Went to BJ's today. Had a full tank so didn't buy it. Regular gas was $2.75/gal.

About an hour before the game, I ran to Tops to get chips and dip. Saw the blimp over the stadium from the Cheektowaga/West Seneca border.
Where do they land here now? Back in the late 60s, it was here for about a week one summer and it was kept at the Gardenville Air Park on Clinton near Ttransit in West Seneca. Kept flying over our house in Cheektowaga.

In pregame, a Dolphin player was dunking the football over the crossbar and landed wrong and messed up his knee for the season. I think it was in the late 80s or early 90s.

My mother's father came over from Poland around 1910 (he was born in 1888). Not educated, and was a tinsmith at Buffalo Forge. He told us that he came here only knowing a few words of English. Talked to people and read newspapers to learn English. This was before talking movies or radio or ESL classes. Managed to raise a family of 9 kids. Her parents would only speak Polish at home. In the 30's,my mom who was under 10 then, and her sibs made them speak English all the time. Only my grandparents had a Polish accent. When Polish was spoken at family get-togethers, us kids knew the adults were talking gossip.

I went through this from 2020-2021.My mom had dementia. About 6 months or so before she died, we contacted Hospice. Luckily we lived only a mile fro the campus. They came to the house and evaluated her and decided she qualified. They came to the house every week at first, then more often.My sister and I were in lockstep with each other and what they proscribed. The problem was with my brother who was sure they would kill her in months. They have social workers that will help with such situations and had to calll them about a month before she died when he was yelling at me for starving her even though I had video ion her refusing food. My mom died the way she wanted, at home and in her own bed.

Having a major health scare like a stroke resets your vision. After one you realize that there is no need to get upset about anything. The only thing that matters is your and your family's health and well being. Laying in bed after my 2014 stroke, I was wondering if I would be like that the rest of my life. A calmness came over me. It was reinforced by my Feb 2024 kidney transplant.

RIP James Watson, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, age 97.

James Watson, who discovered the structure of the DNA molecule along with Francis Crick and Rosalind Franklin in 1953 died at the age of 97. Watson and Crick won the Nobel Prize in 1962 but Franklin did not because she had passed away by then from cancer and Nobels are not awarded posthumously. Their discovery opened up a enormous field molecular genetics.
