Congrats to you and your wife, and I hope you are right about Dallas. Felix Jones is one of my favorite players in the league.
-
Super Bowl coaches:
- Mike Tomlin: hired from Vikings. Vikings were 6-10 and not in the playoffs.
- Tom Coughlin: hired off the street. Had been HC of Jax. Jax has never appeared in a Super Bowl.
- Tony Dungy: hired off the street. Fired from Tampa. Tampa had never been to a Super Bowl.
- Bill Cowher: hired from Kansas City. Kansas City made playoffs and was eliminated by the Bills.
- Bill Belichick: hired from Jets. Jets were 8-8 and not in the playoffs.
- John Gruden: traded by the Raiders and was their head coach. Raiders were in the playoffs, but this is obviously a highly unusual case.
- Brian Billick: hired from Vikings. Vikings made it to the championship game.
- Dick Vermeil: hired out of broadcasting.
- Mike Shanahan: hired off the street. Fired by Oakland.
- Barry Switzer: hired from Wal-Mart.
- Jimmy Johnson: hired out of college ranks.
So, none of these guys came directly from a team in a Super Bowl and only one from a team in a championship game.
Really? Why did you leave out Holmgren and Seifert?
EDIT: Shanahan was hired away from the 49ers, not a street hire like you say.
- Mike Tomlin: hired from Vikings. Vikings were 6-10 and not in the playoffs.

Just don't end up a horrible human being like some other Bills fans.
So how close were you to your father-in-law? That completely sucks and I'm bummed for you and your wife.
-
None of you have mentioned Practice Squad projections. What's up with that?
-
You knew what it was, yet still opened it. Its right in the thread title dude!
Does any response you read on this board surprise you anymore?
-
lol
Love the avatar, and love the thread. Good work.

WTF?
He's a clown.

My big question is "where was Lynch the rest of the game after several great plays in a row in the TD drive"? Unbelievable that they didn't use him more after that. I thought he might have been hurt, but then I saw him in there again at the end of the game. I'll say it again, unbillievable......
That's what blew my mind last night. Lynch was running well to the left and I think averaged 10 yds per carry. Where the !@#$ did he go? AVP blew this game by abandoning the run.

Myspeculation is based on the presumption that Fewell will actually win three or four games as head coach of this mediocre team. Easy enough to see whether this is a crazy idea or not. He will be a head coach or he won't next season. I'll happily stand corrected if he isn't.
Yeah, I think he wins three or four as well. I like him and think he's done one hell of a job so far. Here's hoping for win #2 tonight.
-
While we are bidding to get Shanahan and Schottenheimer out of the nursing home, Fewell may perform well the rest of the season. He has a nice background as a defensive co-ordinator, is enthusiastic and would have won with what had been a loser team with no offensive line, a mediocre qb and a defense about as riddled with injury as you can get.
He will be an NFL head coach.
That being the case Shanahan comes in with a mediocre track record in his last three years as a head coach, nothing to indicate energy or inclination to work with a sub-par team.
I for one would hold off on any coaching decisions until we have a new GM and we have a good opportunity to assess Fewell and decide whether to offer him the job and lock him into Buffalo.
Would have won what? Division? Conference? Championship?
-
Why only 744 votes in the Fewell approval rating poll? The dude deserves some love...
-
Why not, every other name in his coaching tree has been mentioned around here.
-
If this isn't a future HOFer, we would ALL be ripping on this guy for sounding like a full blown retard.
Wow, he couldn't sound/act more like a hillbilly.
No, probably just you.

Sidney Rice is going to be a star in this league.
-
FWIW - I hope like hell that it's true.

I would tell this current bunch of 'Bills' to get bent and walk away. There isn't ONE player on this team that is going to be a Hall of Famer outside of MAYBE TO. These !@#$ing punks are nothing but overpaid, underperforming asses that have no idea on what it takes to be a winner.
What makes me sick is fans on here backing these current assclowns vs the guys who could actually WIN in the NFL. Superbowls my ass, no one has EVER or will EVER go to 4 straight again win or lose.
Maybe the best thing is a new owner coming in and moving them out of Buffalo, its more than apperant this current team has no !@#$ing clue what its about and from what I am reading tonight on this board, the Fans are willing to continually settle for clowns like Fewell possibly taking over.
What should they say to former GM Levy?
-
Bledsoe is the one who screwed Losman? That's a new excuse.
Over the course of one whole season...
-
Better watch who u r accepting as your God.
Lame.

2 cents from a Pats fan, Shanahan is the last guy I want the Bills to hire. Until he got fired he was the only active coach with a winning record against Brady (5-1) and Belichick(5-2)
I'm pretty sure he's been a pain in Manning's ass as well. Thanks for the post, because I was curious about that.

Jairus had agony of the feet.
This is Garius Byrd the lineman on our team.
-
I want to know why Seifert was so great and then fell on his face in Carolina. Both guys are considered great offensive minds from Bill Walsh's system.
Nope, Seifert was Walsh's DC.
-
Shanahan doesn't wear glasses?
-
For the first time since the Shanahan rumors started, I'm feeling optimistic that this might actually happen.

All good - I was just trying to fill in a couple of gaps.
When Gregg Williams was hired - I wanted Marvin Lewis.
Mularkey - I wanted Lovie Smith.
DJ - I can't recall... But definitely not him. What a disaster.
This time around - Dom Capers.
Just saying...
