  1. Show me where im wrong then DOG? Please! How do you propose to pay for a $800M project? Dont tell me taxpayers! The taxpayers are struggling to support garbage pick up and medical supplies for the area county Hospitals so that isnt an answer. Your therory was that a dome would generate additional events during the year and I blew that out of the water with "fact" not therory. So please support your ideas with something of substance.
  2. That one is a fantastic house! Thanks for sharing that with me. Any idea where i can find the tax amount for that area over there? I do love Buffalo. I could live there and raise my kids. Its a struggling area however and that concernes me. If i lost my job here I could probably find a similar one. If I moved there and lost my job... Probably not...
  3. Dog, please back up your dome therory with fact. 1st, no one wants a dome in buffalo other than the teams that come play the Bills. Heres the events that Lucas Oil has for the next year Sat Jan 24 2009 Monster Jam Wed Jan 28 2009 CITGO Marketer Meeting Fri Feb 27 2009 Indiana Association of Orthodontist Annual Meeting Sat Feb 28 2009 Supercross Sat Mar 7 2009 IHSAA Girls State Finals Fri Mar 27 - Mar 29 2009 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Regional Thu Apr 16 2009 IEHA Spring Conference Thu Apr 23 - Apr 25 2009 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC LOS) Thu Aug 6 - Aug 8 2009 DCI World Championships Lets say that each event "netted" 250K and we were able to attract 10 events thats 2.5 million a year in "other" revenue add "your tax" 20M year Raise tickets at an average of $20 a ticket or 20M a year still takes almost 20 years to pay it off... Heres an interesting article about "issues" lucas oil stadium is having with potential events... http://www.indy.com/posts/can-ihsaa-finals...ay-in-lucas-oil
  4. You may be right... St Augustine isnt Buffalo... I guess the original point is the taxes are killing the area of buffalo. I wish it were different. It doesnt need to be that way however. The unions and overlap of services are killing it up there (all been mentioned before)
  5. Heres a buffalo house... http://buffalo.craigslist.org/reb/977564546.html How much would morgage and taxes be in Clarence?
  6. ok How about this one... 2500 a month will get you this... http://atlanta.craigslist.org/reb/987303919.html
  7. Perfect! Now your backing up your plan with facts! I like it! When do we start???
  8. Heres a link to a house in the close burbs.. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/reb/958685344.html
  9. I respect your answer. It was a well thought out answer and well described. Not something we normally see on this site lol... I do agree we have some issues here in the South, however, we have been able to do something Buffalo hasnt been able to do. Attract corporations and Jobs that require brain power. I am a fan of Buffalo. I dont like its current situation however. I could live there as well, keep my current job, make the same money I do here but wouldnt be able to sustain the standard of living I have here. However, I have looked into investing in Buffalo. The issues I have with that though is the business tax situation. THAT is something that needs to change. It would take most profits and send them out of Buffalo....
  10. Im not picking on all of y'all but tax money for tickets? lets say you taxed EACH ticket $40.00 for a NEW $800M 60,000 seat stadium in Niagara Falls. It would take 40 YEARS to pay off that stadium. IF we kept every penny of tax money. You want to add to the economy and the validity of this stadium idea by adding restaurants? Why havent restaurants and other attractions been built around our CURRENT stadium? It wont support it there so why do you think it would work in the NF area? Yall need to think about what youre saying before you sat it and back it up with fact.
  11. GOOD GRIEF? Did u see that the game in TO never sold out? Do you think the CANADIANS would pay for 8 games at those prices lol? You still havent given us your therory of how the bills would pay for the 800M dollar stadium... Back up your statement with something other than your simple speculations please!
  12. Lotsa New construction downtown? WHERE??? How may cranes do you see? I have had the opportunity to see most of the major citys in this country the last few years and one thing I always look for to gauge the economy in the city is how many cranes do you see. Miami has been BOOMING. I saw 10 or so cranes there. Atlanta about 15. Dallas 5 or 6. Houston 7-8. Nashville 4 -5. Memphis 2-3 Just my simple way of judging.
  13. OK... I live in the South. Taxes for a $300k house here in Atlanta are about $2 -3K a year or $200.00 a month in the close suburbs. So roughly $1800 TOTAL a month for a $300K house Taxes in the burbs of Buffalo for a $300K house $12-15K or $1250.00 a MONTH. Total House payment $2850.00 You do the math...
  14. Please explain this to me.... You claim that being closer to the border will bring more revenues, HOWEVER, you fail to account for PAYING for an $800,000,000 stadium vs the FREE Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Bills currently sell out most to or close to MOST games now. PLEASE explain to me where your "INCREASED REVENUES" idea has ANY validity.... Jim does NOT have a clue. HE threw footballs for a living. Thomas Golisano has a clue he build a BILLION dollar business from his garage. For all of you who THINK the Bills will have a new stadium, im sorry to piss on your snowman but it will NEVER happen. SORRY, END OF STORY. We cant even build one here in Atlanta where we have 20 times the people (6 million) whos earning per capita average is 4 times higher than Buffalo. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!
  15. Where did all this we need a new stadium shiot start anyway? I would prefer a DE and TE
  16. You have a point about drought. I think its time for more drastic measures... Like lawsuits against the State. However this would take 1000's of people willing to take a stand against the tax structure and the wat the REGION is run. Never happen... The people of Buffalo REVEL in the "victim" mentality which is even shown through their reaction to sporting events. The "No Goal" "Home run Throwback" we got screwed again by the "Man" is an example of this mentality. This mentality even came from my parents when I moved to Atlanta... "OMG! what will happen if it doesnt work out there in Atlanta Steve! OMG... OMG!!!." my reply? "Uhhh, just move back?"
  17. Ive often had the "urge" to move back. When i have tose "urges" I go back for a visit. The 1st 3 or 4 days are GREAT then reality sets in. it gets boring and depressing. You can only go drinking and eat pizza and wings so much... you get tired of seeing old boarded up buildings and just "old" stuff. Anyone have any questions about life in Atlanta and what areas are best to live let me know...
  18. If a large oil field is found... So the sad answer is no... Yall can move down here to Atlanta! Life is wonderful, Taxes are low, housing costs are lower than average, dont need snow tires, more jobs, 6 million people to hang out with. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL teams to root for. Top Restaurants... Downside? lack of large water bodies. Dont get me wrong... I LOVE buffalo and its people BUT after 13 years of Atlanta, I couldnt live there again!
  19. Speaking of pleasant to watch... I vote for better looking cheerleaders... ours are FUGLY! Is there a rule against importing them from the south?
  20. Lol, lemme know if something "strange" starts to happen to the people near there. Ive always held the therory that something in the water of buffalo "makes" people wear zubas. Fair warning...
  21. Id rather that then speculation... an example of speculation to me is "Jim Kelly is going to buy the buffalo bills and move them to Niagara Falls" Wheres the facts?
  22. A quick note on the naming rights of the stadium... If you were "Proud Ralph," Would you sell the rights of a stadium u dont own, pay 0 toward, that has "your name" attached to it? I wouldnt. This brings up another point... what gives Ralph the right to name that stadium? shouldnt it be up to county, state or taxpayers?
  23. Nice post... I motion to the board that ALL posts of speculation be backed up with "verifiable collateral" (stats, numbers, actual quotes ect) as this poster has done. All who agree say yea!
