  1. Don't let some of these guys get you down Dwight...your taking a pounding because of your opinion. The world is a very sensitive place. No one wants to hear something they disagree with, let alone stated strongly. There is a lot of back-and-forth in this post and others, which I enjoy reading, but the "you're a moron!" posts are so hypocritical.

I really feel for you on the punctuation police. Those barbs must have hurt badly.

Yes, an opinion that belongs elsewhere.

  2. long time reader, haven't posted much but...

For all of you who think that it's necessary for the Bills to fix the LT position before fixing the QB situation...I may be missing something, and if you can convince me otherwise go ahead, but can anybody tell me how many winning seasons we had with Jason Peters? how many pro-bowl seasons we got out of our QB with Jason Peters? how many 300 yard passing games we had with Jason Peters?

Dude.. Peters has TWO good years and only 1 at left tackle.. He was right tackle in 2006.. moved to left tackle half way through 2007.. then sat out the beginning of 2008 and pretty much sucked the first half of the year.. looked like a turn style. So you are asking why we didn't have a pro-bowl QB for basically 1 year? Are you serious?

We need a solid left tackle.. PERIOD!

  3. Man I totally get what you're saying. After the announcement of the Gailey hiring I was in about a 2 hour state of shock. Then I was reading a bunch of articles where people were optimistic (BuffaloRumblings.com), and it actually made me angry people could have any good feeling about this hiring.

I'm not trying to tell you that you should think exactly like me, but maybe I can give you a different point of view to consider. Every NFL coach has a story. They are all very smart men to even be anywhere near the NFL. In saying that just think of all the stories; Dungy couldn't win the big one in Tampa, Gruden brought them to the promise land. Dungy wins one in Indy. Can Dungy's replacement win with his team? An unpopular Levy gets hired as Buffalo's coach, then he builds a 4 time super bowl team. Marty ball has a great regular season record, but can't win the big one. The St. Louis fans are livid an NFL dinosaur and burn out gets hired in Dick Vermeil, it didn't help that he went 5-11 and 4-12 his first two seasons, you know the rest of the story. Can Cowher do it with another organization seemingly of his choosing? Can Shanahan really do anything significant without Elway?

I know Gailey isn't necessarily on any of these coaches level, yet. But its possible man. NFL history is littered with success stories of coaches who rewrote the story of their career. There are also a lot of coaches that have had success, went to another organization and failed. And only a few cases where a coach has had success and then had it again at a different venue.

Give me a coach that hasn't won one yet any day, and I'll bank on the hope there's a fire in the belly to get one given the RIGHT chance. I like Nix, I'm starting to warm up to Gailey. I definitely like the way he carries himself, and I like the staff he's putting together.

Is it possible that we are the next success story with an unproven unpopular coach? I have no idea, just as you really don't know for sure he'll fail. Come on man, get behind this guy. At the very least you'll feel better.

    Great post, I completely agree!

  4. Some of you guys are too much.. I had high hopes for Trent.. but to call him a p*ssy? Dude has like 2 seconds before getting totally destroyed, sometimes by more than one defender. I would love to see some of you tough guys stand there for even one series without limping off the field.

Maybe if we actually get a solid O line..

  5. Drew's first couple years sucked but his last 2 years in San Diego were great. He averaged over 3300yds and 25 TDs. That is an important middle part to the story. Matter of fact Drew's 3rd year as a starter was a 27 TD year. Wake me when we see that kind of potential in Edwards....YAWN!!!!

Um.. he was off to a good start before getting killed in AZ.. I'm not a huge Trent Dreadwards fan.. just saying..

  6. In 2001, Drew Brees was the "Colt McCoy" or "Tim Tebow" of this years' draft class. Obviously he was the second best QB prospect behind Vick, but unlike either Clausen or Bradford, whichever one you have ranked second this year, he had some limitations. He was only 6'0 tall and was not considered a "true first round"-worthy pick. In fact, when the Chargers took him with the first pick of the second round, I remember reading and hearing some experts accuse them of "reaching" at that early place in the draft, because they needed a QB so badly. Yeah sure, Brees was quite a "reach" wasn't he?

So just like with Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner and Tony Romo, every team that had a first round pick in 2001 passed on Drew Brees. (Including the Saints!) And that simply amazes me because every year there are always at least 15 - 20 NFL teams that desperately need a true QB of the future. I understand the Ryan Leafs, Akili Smiths, Tim Couches and other classic first round QB busts make every NFL team gun-shy about investing so much money into first round QB's. But how can you not keep trying if you go 26 years between drafting Pro Bowl QB's like the Bills have?? (That is not a misprint - Kelly was drafted in 1983, and this past draft was 2009.) One Pro Bowl season out of Flutie and one Pro Bowl season out of Bledsoe, two QB's already past their prime, is not an "answer!" The Bills could have taken Brees with the number 21 pick of the 2001 draft instead of Nate Clements. What an absolute joke. Donahoe had Rob freakin' Johnson and had just decided to dump Flutie that April. And he passed on Brees. Along with every other team of course.

So now the Bills have another chance to draft Clausen or Bradford, or get even bolder if they are both drafted by their number 9 pick, and take McCoy or even Tebow there. Many experts and fans will mock them and call them idiots for reaching so far for McCoy or Tebow. But I would applaud them for "getting the QB first."

Um.. are you forgetting that Brees sucked his first couple of years and the Chargers traded him and went with Rivers? Sounds like something the Bills would do. How would you feel if we traded Edwards and he went on to win a Superbowl with another team?

    NO ROOKIE QB THANKS!

  7. I'm another Bills fan in San Diego. I've been in CA for 28 years, 18 in San Diego.. I'll also be a Bills fan for life unless they move. I won't be a bolt fan either. I knew they would lose to the Jets too... awwwww..

Who will win first if ever? Shoot.. the Bills are going to the Superbowl next year with Chan Gailey and QB to be named later. LOL

  8. George Wilson is glad he thought that way.

And the hate for Jauron is so laughable. He didn't get the job done and got fired. But he is a classly and good guy. And now he's getting paid $3 million to coach dbs on one of the best NFL teams. Good for him and I wish him well.

Dude.. no way Jauron is making anywhere close to 3 mill to be DB coach. lol

  9. I think its too early to write off our speedy defensive end. I know many have already but as we know Jauron wasn't exactly the guy to utilize his "first step". Give Maybin another season he may still turn the corner.

I wasn't talking about Maybin.. Maybin hardly even got a chance to play.. I was referring to Kelsay, Denney and Schobel.. Schobel did ok passing the rusher but got beat quite a bit on run plays.
