When have the bills been a tough team? Like steeler tough.
I would definitely say '79-'81 Bills Defense was 'bully' tough and #1. Big Ben Williams, Jim Haslett, Isiah Robertson, Freddy Smerlas, Shane Nelson, Sherm White, headhunter Freeman. The O line: Crazy Joe Devlin, Conrad Dobler, Ken Jones, and old man Reggie Mac.
The Super Bowl Bills (especially '90-'91) were tough boys....NEVER out of a game, AFC or NFC. Even the role players (Pike, Lodish, Seals, Bentley, Leonard Smith, Odomes, and that O Line) were bruisers. You cannot say they were not feared. In the words of Bill Walsh inthe AFC Champ game "The Bills are outhitting the Raiders...they are out Raidering the Raiders"
I must correct myself. In 1980 Bills were #3 Defense, 1981 #6

I disagree. On replay, he clearly took a "where he's going" angle as opposed to "where he is". Not only that, Spikes would have sniffed it out way earlier...He's a run stuffing "old dog".
Also...no props for the Lucius Sanford reference? ha

That last crucial 1st down was clearly on Zach Brown...Spikes would have stuffed him. I really think more Spikes would help, he's more direct and instinctual. I haven't seen anybody wide pursue that much since Lucius Sanford!

11 years as a Bill. 2 as a first team all pro. 3 trips to the playoffs ('73, '80, '81). Nothing but an asset to this and his own community, running a football camp for years. 1973 blocking lineman of the year by sports writers (PFWA).
Personally I just remember the hero worship as a kid when Reggie was blocking for Jim Braxton and OJ, then for Terry Miller, and lastly for Joe Cribbs as "Old Man Reggie".
He's good enough for the Greater Buffalo Hall, how about the Wall?

I think Fred could work picking up blitzes, situational runs, out of the backfield receptions, and as a mentor. Most of all retiring a Bill. I would hope the Pegulas would intervene, since they understand the community more, and Fred's place here.

I hope this has not come up before. Buffalo fans are fair minded, why not raise our voices to support a kid whose all in. If he can't cut it he's gone.

There's a GREAT Bills bar in North Beach, The North Star at Green and Vallejo I think. There are typically more than 50 other Bills fans there, and it's a small place.

It might be blocked on the Bills app, but listening through the wgr website has always worked in the past for me.

Williams 5th round, Bradham 4th round. I think, if recent quotes from Marcell are any indication, he will try hard to stay. He realizes where he is, in relation to his teammates on the line, and the opportunities moving forward.

Starting with the 60's Bills...My Dad was the Real Estate guy of record for the Bills, so he knew most of them. He always said Cookie was a hoot!
Ed Rutkowski used to read bedtime stories to my brother and I, taking time out from cocktail parties. Met Al Bemiller a few years ago, a real nice guy. He really appreciated the Bills Yearbooks ('63-66) DVD I copied for him.
Jack Kemp showed my brother and I around the Capitol Bldg. in DC in 1974. He was really nice to us.
Met JD Hill at an autograph session at a Super Duper in 1973, nice enough. He had a pink Cadillac.
Met Ralph and Bill Polian at a Monday Quarterback Club event at the Aud in '92, I shook Ralph's hand and thanked him for keeping the Bills in Buffalo. They were both really nice and gracious. Thurman and Bruce were at the event, but I was too chickensh%#t to approach them.
Pat Lafontaine signed/dedicated a book he wrote to me as a fellow Brain Injury survivor.
Any 49er fans out there (I grew up there, mostly). HoFer Bob Sinclair owned a liquor store in my neighborhood, so I met him a bunch- really nice. TE from the 60's Monty Stickles was a booze rep I met a bunch of times. Freddy Soloman was nice and signed an autograph. Ran into Bubba Paris at a BBQ restaurant in San Bruno- really nice and I thanked him for the Super Bowls.
This is our year...Go Bills!

I totally agree that this is all way overblown. I am completely at ease with how the firing went down. I also agree that this is backlash for Pegula's loyalty to the community.
Look, 17 years is nothing...it took the CUBS 108 years to get it right, and they remained a popular and viable team the entire time!
