  1. Word.

You hit the nail squarely the on the head with those statements.

Atlanta is far more the kind of place that most black athletes want to be.

A lot of these guys are young, single, and have plenty of spending money for dining, dancing, and dames. I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to sit home and study game film every night.

Buffalonians are so damn sensitive about any statement they perceive as a disparaging remark about their beloved hometown. Buffalo suits me fine. I grew up there. But how do you expect some kid raised in an urban environment on the Florida panhandle or in Georgia to take to the charms of Buffalo as easily? Thurman just happened to have his wife's family living there, which I'm sure was a huge factor in his decision. Otherwise I doubt he'd be there. What other black athletes have made it their home in recent times?

Buffalo is still a highly segregated area compared to many major metropolises. There are no neighborhoods in Buffalo I know of that I'd say are populated by and marketed to affulent blacks. Here in Atlanta, there are many.

If Dingus Day, Beaver Island, Kissing Bridge, and Rush are what you're into, I highly recommend Buffalo. For young African-Americans...not so much.

There are hundreds of thousands of blacks in buffalo.

Just check out the east side.

  2. I've never been to Buffalo but I think I know where most are coming from in that while Buffalo might be a great party town if you fit into the age and ethnic group in a particular area that likes to party but if you don't then you feel out of place. I mean if you are white kid straight out of college you'd love being in a college town like South Bend. But if you are a middle age minority (black, asian, hispanic) in an area that is 90% white then you'd probably feel out of place. I lived in Newport RI for 4 years; everyone in my age group who was white loved it there as they felt it was a party town right on the beach and would bar hop and get drunk stupid! I hated the scene as I'm not a big drinker and the only bars and clubs played techno or rock; both of which I hate! They only had one urban club that was far right as it was nothing but a hole in the wall spot where thugs and chicken heads hung out at! And I know if I were a professional athlete with millions I'd hate living in a town I couldn't enjoy!

What were you looking for a disco bar frequented by minorities?

  3. Scott getting linebacker reps

By Chris Brown - Posted November 26th, 2008

It’s not the first time that safety Bryan Scott has been getting linebacker reps in practice, but this week the chances of seeing Scott lined up at linebacker might be much more realistic if Keith Ellison’s absence is injury related.

Ellison was absent at practice Wednesday, with details expected to be provided later in the afternoon.

Teddy Lehman would be the first linebacker off the bench in such a situation, but he suffered a hamstring injury last Sunday and is not practicing. So Scott is the temporary starter replacing Ellison.

The trickle down effect will put George Wilson again as the starter at strong safety.

Once there is word on Ellison’s situation we will better know the likelihood of Scott being at linebacker for Sunday’s game.

For future reference, we don't need those tags, it's unneccessary, so don"t bother..

  4. I disagree. It does work as evidenced by CBS 6 (Capital District market) earlier in the season. Numerous calls and e-mails flooded the station and they realized the error of their ways and switched the game to the Bills. If it doesn't work, see my last post.

    GO BILLS!

They had a problem with the feed from the game they had intended to televised and switched over to the Bills.

It had nothing to do with phone calls from a few random fans.

  5. That brings up an interesting legal question. IIRC a criminal cannot benefit from his crime. Like writing a book about it for a lot of money but if it's a book about his life and that only takes up one chapter then what's the law?

I would like to see Vick write a book about raising and caring for dogs.

Just to see what the reaction would be.

Gear the book towards the wholesomeness of raising a dog as a pet.

Have a chapter or two on dog safety and how to avoid injuries.

Include illustrations of kids teaching their dog how to fetch and roll over, etc.

He should do it just for the uproar it would cause.

    That would be classic.

  6. "I think the fact that it wasn't a city like Miami or Atlanta is something that was kind of a hidden blessing in disguise," Clements said when talking about beginning his career in Buffalo, "I wasn't able to always go out, and I think that really helped me on the field."...

Jim Kelly must be laughing his butt off at that pathetic statement. Jimbo and his buddies never had any problems finding "places to go out" around Buffalo. Then, in order to keep the public incidents to a minimum, he built his own bar in the basement of his home so he and the Bills could continue to party privately. I know Clements wasn't earning 10 Million a year in Buffalo like he is now, but he ceratinly had enough money to be "able to go out" if he really wanted to. Being from Buffalo, and rooting for the Bills my entire life, I really have to laugh at all the insults athletes and media members try to throw at our fair city. They just end up making asses out of themselves.

For every one ignorant arrogant idiot like Clements, there are two Steve Taskers, Scotty Bowmans, Paul McGuires, Jim Kellys, Thurman Thomas's, Larry Playfairs and many others who have decided Buffalo is so great, they end up living here full time.

You are living in a pretend world.

Jim Kelly signed will Houston of the USFL because he didn't want to come to Buffalo.

He signed with the Bills because the USFL collapsed and he ran out of options.

    He laughed at Buffalo.

    Wake up !

  7. Yup, and now players and coaches all want to go there. We would have to sell our jills to get a lot of nfl players to come to buffalo. That might actually be a good decision for everyone...

It makes you wonder how well edwards could be doing. Although from the limited time cassel got in college, it was apparent that he was a top talent.

No it wasn't apparent to anyone except the Patriots.

  8. Without getting religious on the board ... yes he can and should have opportunity for forgiveness. No...he has no right returning to the public stage and getting wealthy while he does it. For once, we need to think about what it says to kids if we let athletes that make serious misjudgements step back into the spotlight. Athletic ability does not equal license for poor behavior. Let him make his living honestly like the rest of america but he is not entitled to return to the NFL. I would not want him in Buffalo.

Ok then what do we say to kids who see OJ Simpson on the Wall of Fame......

Son it doesn't matter that OJ murdered two people, he was a great runner and deserves to be honored.

  9. For the entire season my wife and I have left our Bills flag proudly hanging from the front of our house. On Saturday night, some idiot came onto my porch and stole it! I live in Fayetteville, NC, so there aren't a whole lot of Bills supporters or haters. Since this is a military town, you can finds of every team, college and pro. In our neighborhood you see Redskin, Steeler and Panther flags hung out and the only people who have ever said anything are other WNYers.

    I am so pissed! :D

no real point here I'm just venting but come on, why steal someone's flag?

What's the point of this post?

  10. They'll have the Giants/Redskins instead. Apparently Syracuse is a secondary market for Buffalo so WSYT/Fox can choose which game to show. Can't find a link, it was a blurb in the newspaper this morning, and WSYT does have the Giants/Redskins game listed on their site.

For those that want to complain..

Complain all you want , it won't do any good.

  11. The last time I checked, Deer hunters don't electrocute, beat, kick, drown them for fun, cut them with knives, and rile them up to fight against other Deer to look cool. Not to mention the fact that Deer hunting is a sport, people use the meet for food, and is not considered animal cruelty.

I am calm, Michael Vick is a worthless butt F*ck. sodomy would be a light sentence for good 'ol #7. I actually read the indictment in full, I know what they found, and what he did. He was worse than Hitler to those defenseless dogs. Lets leave it at that.

No, lets not leave it at that.

Hunters dont always shoot deer for "meet".

Shooting isn't any better that electrocution.

Hilter killed defenseless woman and children, human beings.

    Dogs are animals.

    Is that clear?
