I seriously can’t believe 3 on 3 Bball is now an Olympic sport. I just looked up the list of the sports, and there are some really absurd ones on there. Artistic swimming? 3 kinds of BMX biking? 2 kinds of kayaking? I saw some skateboarding the other day, and everyone looked terrible. I think the winner was a 13-year old girl who fell down a bunch.

Not enough karate for ya?

I enjoy the Olympics, but can’t stand NBC’s coverage. I’ll never forget a couple years where someone with NBC said something along the lines of, “more women watch the games who aren’t necessarily sports fans, we need to create drama and storylines because they like the stories more than sport”. Not only is that a gross comment, but it’s exactly how NBC covers the Olympics, and it ruins it for sports fans imo.
Agreed. There’s Olympic stuff on three channels me thinks and whenever they get into ESPN-like drama build up I flip to one of the other channels actually playing sports. Granted, it’s all NBC owned channels so they get the win regardless.

It was part of the deal that baseball and softball made to get back into the games because they had been eliminated. No new venues for either.
Thanks for the info. Better than nothing I guess.

They had the softball gold medal game like three days into the Olympics? That seems extremely brief. No round robin play, I’m assuming? Or is it that there just aren’t many countries fielding teams?
US fell to Japan. US starting pitcher was emotional after but said they were proud to have come that far and competed.I also thought it was pretty tacky they couldn’t get their own softball sized diamond. They just retrofitted a regulation men’s baseball diamond. It looked embarrassing for an Olympic event.
With the millions the Olympics take in they couldn’t get a diamond that fit their sport? And besides no fans in the stands so it’s not as if they needed stadium seating. Lame.

Merely alluding to the fact most of us males here won't be entering the 'Mr. Universe' contest. Certainly not based upon our looks. 😁

Silver Lab. They're a tad controversial - not recognized as Labs by the AKC labrador retriever group, but probably are purebred labs.
So what you’re saying is the AKC are silver racists?

Can it really even be debated that the old red-faced logo was offensive? A caricature left over from a time and place where that was acceptable. I’m honestly surprised it made it this long.
Even the characters name was a slang term for Natives.
I am usually in the “everyone is so easily offended these days” camp, but I do have to agree it is the right thing to do to eliminate this type of imagery from pro sports.
Native Americans were the original marginalized group in this country. You can’t go back and change that, but you can learn and correct things moving forward.
The Chief Wahoo aspect is a bit of a moot point. It’s been retired from the Indians uniform and barred from the Hall of Fame for three years.

So far I have heard Josh Allen. Everyone else seems to want to degrade me. Now I know how people that go against the grain feel. But that isn't my intent. I think all the Christian athletes standing up for what they believe in are awesome as well.
Your screen name is based off of a great movie I’ll give you that.

OOBG you get a thumbs up from me. Not because of anything Cole says, but just for your unbridled desire to light a fire on the board, out of nowhere, early on Friday morning.

cole a patriot

cole’s a patriot.
I really couldn’t give a s***, either way.
jumpin’ jiminey we have to stop being offended or outraged by what these guys say (people could get sick!) we got to stop (but he is a patriot speaking his mind!) we GOT to stop.
Even if he was a Patriot they’re still only finishing third in the east.

White Sox: 2005.
First time in many decades... Maybe they should have phrased it: "Another in many decades..."
The OP and title was changed after I posted that. It was originally first time a team ever won.

Didn’t they win it in 1971? Was it not considered a major title back then? I’m not an NBA fan so not sure of NBA history in the 70s.

He changed his name to Phil and hid out for a while. Then his head got squished.
You’re forgetting before that he changed his name to Frankie and moved to Vegas. Ended up working with a short guy named Nickie. But things went south, as they do, and ended up giving him the Mark Maguire treatment with aluminum bats. Yes…bats.

This doesn’t sound like the patriot way.

I do genuinely love these takes. It’s fun rooting for the team the rest of the country hates. I hope the Bills get close to that again like during the Super Bowl run.

I work overnights and take the 219 home to South Buffalo. Sometimes I’ll take the 20A exit to drive by the stadium.
It’s a beautiful site at 4am with no one else around.- 1
