  1.

You know what, having been in business for myself for a good number of years, if I'm paying someone 100 million dollars and I want him to move over a couple feet in the best interest of the team, he better be sliding over. Or SEE YA!

Yeah but when you already gave him $41 million guaranteed and another company would pay him more than the remainder of what you owe him, he can tell you to piss off he's not moving.

  2. Um, because Brady was drafted in the first round with the #1 pick?

I am so sick of this weak argument.

I'm to the point where I don't honestly care anymore....

as a franchise we are light years away from being better then the patriots.

Hilarious coming from someone who has posted almost 3000 times on a Bills site and averages 2 per day. "I don't care anymore", hahahahahaha.

  3. I totally disagree with the notion that Maybin needs to play with reckless abandon and dig deep. I think the kid plays with all his heart and gives maximum effort. The issue is he isn't good enough and his determination doesn't make up for his lack of size to play the position. The young man goes all out which in turn makes it even more noticeable when he gets dominated. I actually think if he tried less, he would be less noticeable.

  4. really? spiller in the first round? we had and still have a lot of other areas of need and we picked a rb. i am terrified that we take aj green in the first round this year

What does Spiller have to do with my response to this?: "If the front office would draft the guys they are thinking about as 7th rounders and free agents in the first round, they'd look like geniuses!" Don't change the subject, follow along now.

What, the Director of Scouting is actually supposed to scout the players we draft BEFORE we draft them and not just phone it in from Jacksonville?

You're making my point, Thank you. The Director of Scouting doesn't choose the draft picks.

  5. If the front office would draft the guys they are thinking about as 7th rounders and free agents in the first round, they'd look like geniuses!

I don't see how you can say that when we've changed the front office staff that makes those decisions.

  6. Jim Kelly usually gets the focus for the Bills "Glory Years" but pound for pound Bruce Smith may have been the best Bill of that era. In his prime there was nobody better at his craft. While he gets attention for the sacks the guy was also solid against the run. I do not believe there is a player in the NFL today who is his equal.

    Enjoy Highlights

Why does it matter how much Bruce Weighed vs. Kelly?

  7. Right on.

Not to mention there is no real quality difference between a #2 pick and #6 pick, we're talking about the 11 Best players out of of all of the 100s of college football players.

Lets look a a quick look at HOF players:

    # of NFL Hall of Famers picked at each draft position in the top 11:

    #1 Picks - 11

    #2 Picks - 8

    #3 Picks - 9

    #4 Picks - 9

    #5 Picks - 6

    #6 Picks - 10

    #7 PIcks - 1

    #8 Picks - 4

    #9 Picks - 3

    #10 Picks - 2

    #11 Picks - 5

Speaking only for myself, these numbers are irrelevant to the argument about why I prefer to lose. It's not about comparing success of draft picks historically by draft order/position. It's solely about the opinion that the Bills need to draft a QB and the opportunity to be in a position of ultimate power to make that decision. That's it. If you disagree with that opinion fine. I'm not arguing we can't hit on a hall of fame player at pick #6, but you're not getting Luck and most likely Mallet at that spot.

  8. I think this team is already in the process of turning it around. It started with ditching Dick and took a big step forward with the release of Trent. They are now learning to play hard and win. Granted they have beaten two bad teams, but you have to start somewhere. Winning will pay off bigger dividends than any one particular player in the draft. While there may be one terrific player they miss out on, there is going to be more than one terrific player in the draft, particularly early in the first round.

They almost certainly aren't going to win the SB next year in any event. But they can be a solid competitive team IF they learn to win. And if the FO can figure out who to keep and who needs to go. That determination is best made when the team plays to win, and when it wins.

I don't disagree with anything you've said here. Of course "turning it around" is a very subjective term and leaves plenty of room for interpretation. I just know that we are 2-8 and while we've played at a very high level offensively, our defense is far from making us competitive in regards to winning record, playoff team, etc.

There may also be an element of overachieving with this team with how competitive they have been. I fully acknowledge that Chan has us moving forward, no question. I guess I'm just not at the place where I believe Fitz is the answer, so in saying that, the focus of needing a franchise QB in what appears to be a real opportunity this year is still at the forefront of my mind.

They're 2 OT field goals and a week 1 Start by Fitzy away from 5-5.

You add some pass rush and lock down the right side of the line and that almost 5-5 could be 7-3 with those additions.

Playing out these next 6 games tough is going to be key to see if they can turn it around.

I appreciate your optimism. But we are 2-8 not a few plays here and there from 7-3. You say we're 2 OT field goals away from 5-5, but your forgetting we are with the exception of Kyle an entire defensive line away, 2 OLB, 1 MLB, a safety, and two corners from playing winning football. Did you watch the first half of today's game? I enjoyed the comeback, but it was just that, a comeback from a very disturbing first half against a team that is just as bad as we are defensively. Enjoy the win, but I wouldn't build my foundation for the future on it.

  9. You have to write your name on the score sheet before you can ace the exam. Ya gotta start somewhere.

I was more heartened by the fact they came back from 21 points down on the road, than the fact they beat another crappy team. THAT is cause for at least a little optimism, isn't it?

Really the only way this win can help us is if most of the players on the team today are on it when a 2-8 team gets it turned around. I find it unlikely, therefore the win today may become even more irrelevant.

  10. So what gives you the right to determine who and who are not fans. I guess since my family is one of the few original season ticket holders, it means I am no longer longer a fan since I would have preferred a franchise QB who was within our sights a few weeks ago. Now that Luck is out of the picture, I would love to win every game. Maybe there still some people who want to lose because they think we can still get luck - I know I won't pass any judgment on those people as to if they are fans or not. Give it a freakin' rest.

    My point, worded more succinctly.
