  1. The Bills' scrubs would all try to play hard and try to win the game and keep their spot on the roster for 2011. What is so hard to understand about that?

What's so hard to understand about that is that someone could have such a ridiculous thought. You actually think "scrubs" as you call them, are going to win the game tomorrow and an even dumber thought, that they are thinking about loosing their job to draft picks.

  2. I was watching the NFL Network last night and they said something about Alex Smith. He will be a FA at the end of the year and thought he might be a good back-up for Fitz. Cheap, First pick in the draft, has a cannon for an arm, mobile, just never got coached up. He was a rookie or second year guy when Norv turner was still there and was starting to play pretty good then Norv left and he never came to be. Was just wondering if Nix would think about it and let Chan coach him up to be the back-up. I think he would be more suitable then Brohm.

    Have you lost your mind?

  3. It's not even that I want, or that I'm rooting for them to lose, it's the playing of their starters against the Jets backups that will get me extremely upset. I have no problem winning the game with our backups against their backups. These guys are professionals and they have every reason to not want the Bills to have a higher draft slots for guys that could take their job away from them.

How in the world could the local media not ask that question????? Hey dumbasses, this game is a glorified exhibition game and you don't even ask that question????

This doesn't make sense. Say you're a LB and you don't want the Bills to draft someone to take your job as you stated, so you play hard so they don't take a LB you would have to determine would be taken at pick 2-4. But then the o line would have to think that hey if we lose they'll draft that LB and I'll keep my job. So the LB would play to win and the O line would play to lose? Which players would play for the win in your theory to not lose their job?

  4. I do not want to see any QB drafted by us in the first round. We need LBs and DL first.

I totally agree, but what if we get our defense right and Fitz ends up not being the answer at QB and he's say 30 or 31? Then you're no where again. I think we have to accomplish both somehow. We have to make sure our QB of the future is ready to go at the same time our defense comes together.

  5. I believe we need to bolster our defense in the draft. But I also don't think drafting a QB in the first round derails that. Nor does drafting a defensive player in the first round completely fix our defense. So I don't understand why someone would call people "clowns" for having the opinion of drafting a future QB for this team in the first round.

This team has a lot of needs. And I actually would be happy with several scenarios. But the most important thing is that the players we draft begin to contribute and be future cornerstones. That is something we have lacked for over 10 years. Our first round rate is atrocious, and it doesn't get much better in the rounds thereafter. I'm nervous this last years draft is headed in that same direction. Our best player came from the sixth round and our next best decision was signing Nelson as an undrafted player. That's not good.

  6. Long time lurker first time poster on TBD ...couldn't help but think post game that singeltary would be a great DC next year...we obviously need an upgrade there and one would think he would be available

As others have said, welcome to the board. I think Singletary is a loose cannon. I don't think players like him and I don't think they play for him. I don't think he's the kind of guy that would fit personality wise. I think he's the kind of guy that has to lead and doesn't do well following. I think he'd be a head coaches nightmare keeping up with him and all the issues he'd have with players.

  7. Outside of being schooled by Jared Allen Demetrius Bell has played well enough to pass on a LT in the first round of the draft. Fitzy much to my chagrin has also played well enough that the Bills don't NEED to draft a QB in the first round.

That being said if the Bills win one or two of these last two games and they are drafting between 5-12 I would be happy with Jake Locker or any front 7 defensive player. At some point I would draft another RT prospect in rounds 4-7.

    BUT....

If there is a Vernon Davis or Kellen Winslow (pre-injury) type TE available in the top of the first round I would get that guy. My only question is whether Chan doesn't use TE's by design or because the best healthy TE we have is Stupar(otherwise known as Lee's ankle killer). A super TE would make this offense lethal.

A Tight End in the first round? I'm trying hard to be nice and stay in the Christmas spirit. No !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. The epitomy of cheapness - Bills owner Ralph E. Wilson

It's pretty sad when a local restaurant owner has to come to the rescue to ensure Bills fans that they will be able to see the Bills game on the tube on Sunday.

Shame on you Ralph E. Wilson for not giving back to the fans that have loaded your pockets over the years. You have now earned the letter "E" as your middle initial. The "E" of course stands for Ebenizer.

How do you know he wouldn't have?

  9. I think at least a portion of the expectations is the money these 1st round draft picks get. I'm sorry, but when you're given a 5 year deal that could be worth almost $38 mil and almost $21 guaranteed. The team doesn't have 2-3 years for you to be good. I'm just saying. Then they do get good and become a headache to sign to a second contract. This little issue will soon be resolved, the owners aren't going for this any more.

  10. First off after his performance last year i can't for the life of me understand WHY George Wilson was not the starting safety instead of Whitner anyway . Last year Wilson had as many tackles & interceptions in his play last year as Whitner did in his previous 3 years at the position .

I would hate to see Whitner leave but i think it would be worse to let George Wilson go & his contract is up this year too . Wilson is a much more solid tackler & is as good if not better of a leader because he leads by EXAMPLE !!

Whitner is probably looking for big money too & that wouldn't be bad if he had big play to go along with big contract but the Bills i think want to pay him according to his over all play not his big tweet promises on twitter !!!!

And some one please tell me if i'm wrong but a lot of Whitners tackles i seem to see him turning sideways when he hits a guy instead of tagging him with his shoulder , if i'm seeing things please let me know but i seem to see that out of him a lot !!

Please Bills sign George first then worry about Donte !!!

Yes, lets worry about our backup much more than our starter. After all you think he's better.

  11. We have Fitzpatrick at QB, a bunch of scrubs at WR (except evans, who is inconsequential), a very patchwork OL, no TE's to speak of, a div. 3 RB, and CJ Spiller, and somehow we move the ball. Got nearly 200 on the ground, and Fitz has td passes in 14 straight games.

Admit it, one and all. Chan Gailey knows how to run an offense. Give us a couple years to get a defense, and get ready for the playoffs.

I disagree with your dismissal of the talent on this team. Scrubs for WR except Evans? You may have that backwards. A div. 3 RB? Yeah that is one of the best decision making RB's in the league, guy seems to choose the right hole every time.

  12. The situation in DC just shows - you can't buy your way into a championship. Snyder just has not learned that you build through a solid front office, coaching and the draft.

I think Snyder has learned that, that's why he brought in Bruce Allen and made him the GM. This is the first person Snyder has given the GM title to. Then obviously Allen fired Zorn and brought in Shanahan and revamped the entire coaching staff. But what this does point to is, that it's the right people that make it work. Sometimes an inconspicuous hire like Gailey ends up being the best thing. I for one think Nix is going to give Gailey an opportunity to work with a drafted QB and I think Gailey is going to figure out a perfect way to use Fitz and the new QB to get this team to a place they are competing for the division.

  13. That's a shame, thought we had a good one in Nelson.

    Time maybe to think

    Lance Kendricks

    in Round 3?

2010 JOHN MACKEY AWARD FINALIST: Lance Kendricks leads Wisconsin with 39 catches for 627 yards and five touchdowns. In addition, Kendricks has proven invaluable as a blocker for the Badgers’ high-powered rushing attack, which currently boasts three players with over 800 rushing yards and at least 13 rushing touchdowns. Kendricks ranks third among all FBS tight ends in receiving yards, is tied for sixth in touchdowns and is tied for seventh in receptions. Earlier this season, Kendricks became the first Badger since Travis Beckum in 2007 to record back-to-back 100-yard receiving games when he tallied 103 receiving yards and one TD on six catches vs. Austin Peay one week after a career-high seven receptions for 131 yards and one score in win over Arizona State.

I believe there to be a zero percent chance we draft a TE as early as the 3rd round.

Good post and all great points.

He didn't make any points. He asked a question.
