Not exactly what a team would do if they were leaving town.
-
Why are you suggesting the Bills have to compete with this?
-
And how'd that Free Agent right tackle work out last year? If you get one, he needs to be top tier, otherwise it’s a waste of time and only delays real progress.
Does this theory only pertain to Right Tackles or do you recommend not signing any free agents unless they're "top tier"?

I wouldn't call us "deep" at the WR position, however I think we have several excellent prospects. They still have a lot of proving to do to become viable. At the very least there is going to be a healthy competition. I can't think of a better scenario for Roosevelt.

I don't get it. Imagine the Bills in the super bowl and tell me how you would react? ZZZZZZZZZZ

Maybin does not have football smarts or intuition for the game, and that can't be taught.
No team is going to be able to turn the lights on.
For the hell of it however, I would have spent this offseason trying to see if he could be a TE.
So a guy who "does not have football smarts or intuition for the game" you want to ask him to learn the entire rout tree of the TE position and all the other wide outs for an entire playbook, and ask him to learn how to read defenses? I think you're really on to something. After all its just for the hell of it.

Quite some time ago I had a frustrating few weeks while trying to negotiate a deal with my business. Finally, I had enuf. I scheduled one last meeting & walked into my opponent's office (for lack of a better term) & started the conversation like this, "I'm not one to leave ultimatums, but..." Well, he immediately interrupted me at that point & said, "Sometimes ultimatums can be a good thing...at least you know where the other person stands. Where sir do you stand this day?" Well guess what?..we struck a deal that day! My question is this, I know it's a different situation, but should Ralph leave an ultimatum with our current GM & coaching staff? "Make the playoffs in 2011 fellas, or most of you are gone." Would this approach up their game, or be counter productive? Opinions please....
You struck a deal with an "opponent", that's not apples to apples. Ralph's GM and coaching staff are on his team. If you walked into your opponents office and said "If I don't do as good of a job as you, then I'll fire all my employees", that might be a closer analogy.

Our greatest need is to come away with two great players, two good players, and another player that eventually develops into something. I don't care what position they are, this team can ill afford to have drafts like we've had the last 10 years or so.

No deals to anybody in the AFC.
Bingo.

I've been bringing him up all season. I hope some of you guys are watching, cause I think he would be a nice guy to look at drafting. I know it's kind of difficult imagining him in a pro offense with that Nevada offense. But when he does throw, he's accurate and has one of the strongest arms of any college QB, and can run extremely well. I'd love to see him available in round 3. At 6'6" 225 he's a little thin, but I think with 10 more pounds he'd be perfect. Thoughts?

Did the 5 posters after Dr. Trooth not read his post?

The only reason the Patriots found this dynasty was Bledsoe. Had Bledsoe not been hurt Brady would not have played. Bledsoe would have never led them as far as Brady and Brady would have never started.
If you think Belicheck would have pulled Bledsoe, you're wrong. Belicheck had not pulled him and most likely traded Brady after a another season in New England. He had just signed a record contract under Belicheck. You can look at the situation now and see that he is willing to cut anyone who's not cutting it but all of this was before he got his legs underneath him. If he'd have cut Bledsoe it could have led to Belicheck's undoing, failing at his 2nd (tho technically 3rd) stint as HC.
There is no way to copy the Patriots success, it was a fluke - an amazing event that has yielded a beyond imaginable outcome. Some congratulate the Patriots for their success, I congratulate them on their luck...that and Mo Lewis.
Perfectly said.

I just don't care to see another Mularkey scenario, in which a good and decent man was treated like total garbage for no good reason.
It was a low point in the history of this fanbase and one which I hope not to see repeated.
There's decent men on here that you've treated like total garbage, and for no good reason but for having a difference of opinion.

ugh
Brilliant post.

My annoyance with Tebow DOES have to do with his religiosity, in that he is QB of average skillset, but is canonized because of his "aw shucks" demeanor and high moral Christian values. Strip that away and you'd have another Tee Martin and he wouldn't be selected in the first round of the draft.
I still believe his strengths won't translate well to being a full starter in the NFL. Maybe a gadget QB at best.
What's so hard to believe that people can be attracted to this kind of kid and what he believes in? Even if it's not what you believe. Just because you don't like Christians (which is obvious), doesn't mean this isn't a great young man. You said "Strip that away and you'd have another Tee Martin and he wouldn't be selected in the first round of the draft.". You can't believe he got drafted because he believes in Jesus, do you? He got drafted for other things beside great throwing mechanics, which do not make him Tee Martin. Your just so hung up on hating Christians you can't see past that.

It was right after he turned gatorade on the sidelines into wine.
No it was the two meteors that collided that made wine.

I'd kill myself if we took a CB that high. Gotta be DL/LB or maybe reach for one of the QBs to groom under Fitz.
Yikes man, you ok?

ship mccargo and maybin to denver for orton. if you want to sweeten it, throw in kelsay.. should seal it..
Sigh.....

If Luck comes out the Bills should break the bank and try to get him. It's been since '96 since this team had a franchise QB. Long overdue!! I know there are plenty of needs but I say a QB should be numero UNO!
Yep, and always will be number one until we get our franchise guy. Just look at the QB's in the playoffs.

This.
... and like that and a.

8 out of the 12 QBs playing in the playoffs were first round draft picks. almost every super bowl is won by a first round draft QB (aside from brady).
so yea when three out of 4 QBs in the playoffs are #1 QBs i think its safe to say thats important. 2 of the non first round QBs, hasselbeck and cassel play in awful divisions and will likely lose their first game leaving 7 out of the remaining 8 QBs as 1st round picks.
Meanwhile, half the teams with a top 10 defense are sitting at home. Its a QB driven league and Fitz isnt the answer.
Solid argument.

There's no question in my mind the fumble on the second last possession and then the throw out of bounds from the 3 yard line was on purpose. I don't get why you would be upset with Palmer. There's no way that was his call.
-
Not sure why, but the idea of Merriman re-signing with the Bills does not excite me very much...given his productivity over the last three years, I would think he would be tweeting that he has exciting news for himself...not so much Bills fans.
I understand your skepticism especially as you mention, what he's done the last three years. But what is exciting is the possibility of him getting past personal issues and some injuries, and resembling the type of player he was. If he does that, it could be substantial for a team starving for LB's.
