A dome is still a dumb idea. Why give up something that makes visiting teams dread coming here? Do you think the Fish are going to build a stadium and over-AC it to accommodate us? If you can't stand the cold snowy games, stay home. The rest of us will keep home field advantage intact. Now, if we could just get a few good cold-weather players like we used to have.

Can't confirm it but the Sabres are going back to the original uniforms next year and the Bills need to go back to what they wore in 1974-1981 with the white helmets.

what OJ is wearing.
Nope. I prefer the championship 60s uniforms that they occasionally use now. The standing buffalo rules!

God..... Where to begin in all of this. I don't understand the Bill Parcells genius. I really don't. Yes he helped the Dolphins but anyone could after they drafted Ted Ginn Jr in the first round a year prior. Bill Parcells brought in a few average players to fill in holes in their roster. He made a few trades with Dallas who he is in the process of replacing or has replaced already.
You need to understand that most of the free agents this year are restricted. this means you have to give up draft picks for them. This is something the Bills couldn't afford. Why trade away your draft picks for players you are going to get rid of in a year or 2 anyway? It's self defeating.
Nix has done wonders for the Bills already. it will show up on the field in my opinion. The way they went about FA and the draft is the complete opposite of years past. Let me show you what Nix has done exactly.
1) Signed two FA with 3-4 defense experience at key positions. Meaning the DL and LB core.
2) Drafted Spiller who is a Play maker which the Bills desperately need. He drafted a guy who is most likely a sure fire star in this league. Picking the best player available is very important in the 1st round. You can't reach for LT's or QB's and miss.
3) Drafted for Depth across Both OL and DL. He has guys to replace the current starters in year or so.
4) Drafted for Depth in the Linebackers. More players to replace Kawika and Davis in a year or two.
the single most important thing he has done is create competion across the entire football team. PLayers have to compete for their jobs now.

Name me a recent season in which the best team didn't win the BCS championship. And are you really in favor of extending the season so that these student athletes make college athletics even more of a farce than it really is? I prefer the old days when there was a bunch of games on New Year's Day and no BCS championship. No games during fall finals, and no games after winter semester starts. It's worth rememberiing that very few players have any shot at the NFL. Of the ones that do, few last more than 2-3 years. They may as well get an education, no?
I agree. It was much better to have all this done by New Year's Day. A college football playoff is virtually impossible since these guys are actually college students -- at least we have to assume this or the colleges will be obligated to pay them a salary. There's not enough time between the end of the season and the start of Spring semester to have a FAIR playoff. You'll end up teams getting chosen for the playoffs and others moaning about not being selected. The bowls used to be so much more meaningful and fun.

HC's are only as good as their players. How GREAT was Belichek before he got to NE? Look at Lombardi's late career and the total nosedive of Jimmy Johnson. The good coaches put great players in the right positions and know enough to stay out of the way.
-
I'm not in a position to grade the work of people who know college football players better than I do. Let's just hope we got some good talent that will become solid contributors in a couple of years.
-
I keep hearing all this talk about trading down, but doesn't another team have to agree to the trade? You know I would have liked to have seen fewer players from 2nd division teams selected, but there's just no way that a guy with Nix's experience avoids the marquis names just to piss off Mel Kiper. Let's see what happens. There was a time when no one cared who teams chose after the first round.
-
This is the round to rebuild special teams. They saw something they liked.
-
Yeesh... Watch another team. The rest of us will cheer on our team and offer criticism without letting it ruin our lives.
-
I was going to get excited, but I guess not. Give the kid credit though (and it doesn't sound like he is a scumbag). Maybe he will eventually become the next Vic Carucci.

Well, sophomoric is a complement then. He's a college freshman!

On the contrary, we got into trouble making stupid draft choices and splashy FA signings. I'll take slow and competent from this crew. Nix has the history of good drafts. Put a few together and build a solid team that I will enjoy watching.
-
Already drinking and it's just team workout months... You and I can't do much other than stay away from the stadium and the jersey store when the team is bad. My goodness, just enjoy the draft and watch for some improvement next year. If you are hoping for playoffs this soon, you will be disappointed for sure. A football fan likes good football. Everyone else just checks scores...

I don't think Clausen will be available. I think that Washington only wants McNabb for a short time to get a new QB ready. Watch them take him with their pick.
-
The guy has the build and the experience, but has never played in cold weather to my knowledge. One of our advantages is Buffalo in Nov-Jan. We need to work what ever advantages we have or just build a dome...
-
"IF"...and thats a big if.....if clausen is there at #9, you RUN to the podium and take him, even if one of the four stud LT's are still there.
And exactly what the qualities of this kid that would make you do that? Yes, a superb QB is what you need to get the SB, but is there a SB QB out there to be had this year? We're not going to the SB this year, even if Indy trades us Manning for an extra football. Get good lineman this year and work on skill players next year.
-
Well it IS April Fool's Day...
-
Cam Thomas won't fall that far.

in your opinion, aren't those things correctable?
An NFL QB has to come out of college with a lot more than in past years. The money is so big now that programs can't wait 5 years to see if a guy can learn to do things against the best that he wasn't doing against lower level teams. Every now and then a team picks up a Brady or a Warner, but it is so rare you shouldn't bet the franchise on it. Peyton Manning is a great example. He won at every level against the very best competition. Even he didn't tear it up his first year, but his history suggested what he could do. I get the feeling that some here want a franchise QB so badly that they are imagining that the guys coming out this year can be that. Only Tebow has the necessary history, but he would need a technique overhaul. Sorry guys, Jim Kelly is not available in this draft. Fix other areas first and notice how much better Edwards gets as a result. He'll do for another year.
-
It has to be tough for a committed Christian in the NFL. One is expected to spread the Good News and take the lumps that come with it. Sure, he got an earful for doing that, but I'm sure he's heard it before. Just doing his job.
-
Say no to Clausen or any other QB this year. Build the trenches, please!! I know that team only goes so far as the QB will take them, but Johnny Unitas would look bad behind a bad line...
-
I'll be mighty disappointed if we take any of the QBs at #9. OT or DT is the big need right now. Next year will be better for QBs, I think. This wreck is not going to be rebuilt in a year, so build the foundation first, show improvement, and the fans will be there - the real ones, I mean.
-
Yeah, I don't know what all the moaning is about. Nix is signing a couple of placeholder guys until draftees mature. He knows, and we all should, that this a rebuild that should have been done properly 10 years ago. It will take time. We won't be in the playoffs this year or maybe even next. If they play better and show some life, I'll be happy until 2012.
BTW every FA is a restricted one right now. Signing top talent takes away big draft choices. Signing marginal talent to hold a spot and provide depth doesn't cost as much, especially when your stated goal is to build through the draft.
-
Can't sign players who don't want to play here.
-
Let me qualify this by saying I'm a big Gator fan, but this stinks of recruiting shenanigans. Lure young kids to Gainsville under the guise of coaching continuity -even with meyers expected LOA- then bail the day after Signing Day..
Otherwise, I've never heard of the guy..
Loving it! Go Noles!

Nix has said all along that he intends to build through the draft. Trading high picks for a guy who can't play tackle for the Ravens does not fit that plan. Now if the Raiders want to give us a 3rd for Lynch, take it! It will be -- and always will be -- a high one.
