  1. This is just insane, and pathetic. Let's say we were going to finish 11-5. But then we intentionally lose to the Cardinals and end up finishing 10-6. This idiot is saying 10-6 is better than 11-5.

I think his whole argument rests on the theory that we're destined to lose a certain amount of games, and that it's better to lose them to NFC teams than AFC teams. As if we're going to lose to the Jets because we didn't lose to the Cards.

    This is so stupid.

  2. Haynesworth is top notch.

I would take Cromartie or Asomugha over Finnegan and I think we have a superior secondary to the Titans.

Bullock best LB in the NFL? Is that because he is from Syracuse? Ware, Briggs, Urlacher, Peterson, Merriman come to mind right away.

I like the Titans D and all but think you are overstating how good they are

Bulluck so far has just 16 tackles, so it might be a bit of a down year so far, but if you look at the past few years he has been rather underrated and incredibly good. (I think the qualities of a linebacker are difficult to quantify with statistics) And you may have a point with Asomugha, but metrics point to Cromartie actually not being that good when you take away the interceptions. He allows much higher than the league average in terms of yards given up on balls thrown toward his receiver. Perhaps one reason he gets so many INT's is that offensive coordinators like to pick on him in the passing game. I mean, do you remember just how awful he was trying to contain

Brandon Marshall in week 2? If Cromartie's a top flight CB, he should be able to hold a top flight WR in check more than that. Just a thought. Finnegan, on the other hand, is an incredible coverage corner on top of the INTs he's been getting this season.

  3. The Titans defense is superior to ours, and every other team's, IMO. I think they have the best DT (Haynesworth), the best LB (Bulluck) and the best CB (Cortland Finnegan) in the game. They can kill you on all levels of defense, and people tend to forget that D is half the game, which explains why Dallas, San Diego, and Denver seem to be the sexy Superbowl picks right now.

  4. "So the Saints' FO was dumb for taking Bush with the 2nd overall pick, but smarter than the Bills' FO for drafting Porter. Okay."

Throwing darts against the wall, some will land in the bullseye.

    And some will, well, Leodis...

Porter would be the best corner on the Bills by a mile right now. The issue is TALENT ASSESSMENT, and the incredible anger, jealousy, dishonesty and denial some have here over the truth of the issue...

It's really awesome how you think you can assess the results of a draft after 4 games. Are you claiming that you have documentable proof that Leodis will be an inferior cover corner in the long run? Who are you to say that Leodis won't have developed into a dominant cornerback 2 years from now? They say it takes 2 seasons minimum to truly analyze a draft (case in point, Super Mario being a better pick than Bush).

And besides, Porter would not be the best corner on the Bills. Jabari Greer has that title in my opinion (and no, not just because of that pick six yesterday). He's the best coverage corner I've seen on the Bills in a long while. He's on the short side, but you never see him blow his assignment and he gets a load of passes deflected even if he doesn't intercept many jump balls because of his height.

  5. I think what pisses me off the most about immons is how, after 3 Superbowls, 2 World Series, and 1 NBA Championship in the past decade alone, he still tries to sell himself as the poor distraught victim when Brady goes down for the season. He spent an entire article sobbing and answering emails of fellow spoiled Boston fans sobbing about Brady getting injured. The whole "woe is me, I'm a Boston sports fan" card went out the window in 2004, and guys like Simmons can't appreciate all the success their teams have had recently because part of them is desperate to get that loser identity back. It's just very pathetic how Simmons still manages to find things to whine about while cities like Buffalo, Seattle, Minneapolis, Cleveland, etc. actually suffer from sports misery.

  6. we'll see, and preseason is meaningless, but little Stevie Johnson has caught absolutely everything thrown his way so far.. and is a natural replacement for parrish. Hardy takes over for Reed at some point...

Does anybody else remember the first couple weeks of preseason when Steve Johnson had "Steve Johnson" on the back of his jersey? I thought that was funny. My friends and I refer to him as Steve "Steve Johnson" Johnson

  7. Quote from the article:

"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

So us drinking milk meant for a baby cow doesn't make sense, but us drinking milk meant for a baby human does?

Lemme tell ya, I've been in Ithaca for a little over a year and I am tired of these fuggin PETA hippies trying to project their lifestyles onto everybody. Yes, hippies, do your own thing, but don't push it onto me.

However, I can't disagree with "The breast is best"

  8. Major pet peeve of mine - children at a bar! Bar's are places for adults. We should have a place where we can drop F bombs and exchange sordid stories - and not have to worry about some 10 year old hearing. What kind of parent brings their kid to a bar? I see this often enough. Keep your young kids away from the bar

Didn't you hear? 10 is the new legal drinking age... 0:)

  9. Now they are saying the positioners are NOT good. Before they were but now they say kids can move around in them and get their head between them. Now, according to the last article I read, you should put your baby on his/her back without anything else in the crib.

This is another one of those issues where it seems like there's a different "correct" protocol every day. To me, the best thing you can do is always be vigilant keeping your children safe and just hope for the best. As is the case with the Bryants, clearly there are times when there is nothing you can do.

  10. I scalped for the first time at the season opener and was actually surprised at how easy it was. I am not at all stereotyping but 9 out of the ten scalpers I met that fine sunday morning were all near homeless middle agedafrican american men. My question was and still is where and why do they have all those tickets. The guy I eventually bouhgt my tickets from was so high on crack it was fun to just push him around, this guy actually believed that I would walk a mile to a gas station with him. I poked him in the chest after he got loud with me when i refused and said look buddy you are going to bring me tickets back right here or your not making any money off of me and he siad okay Ill make like pizza hut, and he wa out and back in ten minutes with the seats I asked for. Other guys are fake I actually had tickets for that game when I arrived I just wanted to trade off because I have sat in those same seats way too many times and itwas time for a change. I saw this one guy pull out his tickets not knowing I allready had some and when I saw his I was like "wtf are those" and he quickly walked away and wouldnt even look back when me and my friends started ripping on him. These guys are low lifes and you do have to watch them just have somebody with you or check out somebody elses tickets so you know what they look like that day.

Wow, congratulations for picking on poor people and making them feel bad for needing money.

  11. I think briefly getting benched in the second quarter on Sunday was all the wake up call that Jason Peters needed. In the second half, I didn't see very much pressure at all from the left side. Especially on the last 3 crucial drives, it seemed like Edwards had all the time he needed. I wasn't specifically looking for Peters during the game, but it seemed like he improved miles during the second half.

  12. Well we can't sneak up on anybody now , in fact , we have a bounty on us 'til we get beat.

I say we're still under the radar. NFL teams don't analyze talent by logging onto nfl.com. If we've got a target on our backs, it's because coaches have looked at our tape and deemed us worthy of extra attention.

  13. Really?? Care to explain, or even compare their QB, receiving, RBs, and O'line side by side? Since you have absolutely nothing to back up your useless post, thanks for the bump.

Experience doesn't mean they're good. Look at the defense. The average NFL experience of their starting 11 defenders is 5.8 years and they've given up an average of 39 points.

  14. Rome has good interviews, but when he goes on his soap box he just repeats the same thing about 20 times. Oh yeah, and he does that honk sound a lot.

This past summer, I had to fill 2 hours of sports talk content on WVBR 93.5 Ithaca every Sunday, all by myself. Jim Rome does more than that pretty much every day. Take it from me, repetition helps. I don't fault him for it, and I have nothing but respect for what the guy does even if I don't agree with him much of the time.

  15. Last night Farve looked like what he is - a 30-something QB playing on past reputation. If the Bills had taken a flyer on him Edwards would be sitting on the bench stunting his growth. Also, a young team would probably not be gelling the way this one has.

The Jets would have been better suited to stick with Pennington or play Clemons (sp?). At least they wouldn't be throwing a year away riding a horse who is ready to be put out to pasture.

As Garth Brooks said, "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."

I wasn't aware that we had been considering trading for him...

I think, unlike the Jests, we aren't dumb enough to mortgage our future for one mediocre year
