  1. i'm going to say Thurman Thomas......

League MVP.....and best all around all purpose RB to ever play the game !!

I love Thurman. Don't get me wrong. Incredible running back who had quickness, versatility and great vision. That being said, I think that Thurman benefited greatly from the Bills offensive philosophy, dangerous passing game and incredible beast of an Oline.

Thurman is not nearly as productive without those factors...

  2. I completely understand what you are saying and of course I will get behind him and the team... like every year... honestly we could rehire Dicky and I would still get behind this team. Don't really have a choice. But we got a month before FA and 2 before the Draft so why not.

GT was 7-6 and 7-5 many seasons behind Chan... after him they go 9-4 and then 11-2... that worries me.

Valid concern. But sometimes teams and personnel just respond well to change. Chan has won everywhere he has been thus far (on whole). And if he brings us some 9-7 seasons where we are competitive, that is at least a step in the right direction.

I didn't mean to come off like a jerk. Glad that you are on board!

  3. I was just wondering if any numbers came out on the Chen hire? Years price?

I jsut watched TT interview talking about how people don't understand that RW is a business guy...

I do understand that but when he lies to Bills fans like this offseason... that's just BS...

"Bills owner Ralph Wilson is willing to spend upwards of $10 million to land the right person."

"It's not about money, it's about winning," Wilson said.

I don't think RW spent 10mil on Chen... yet the stadium is full every season and will be again this season even if there is no TO signing or anything like it... Bills fans love football no matter what... and it's come around to kick us in the ass...

One last point if he is so concerned about money... RAISE TICKET PRICES... how many people here would rather pay more for a ticket and win rather then less and watch out team suck for the next 10 years.

Sorry just had to vent about it... havn't goten a chance yet.

Whats done is done. Chan Gailey is our coach. Get behind him and Buddy or don't. Would it make you feel better if he was making 9 Million a year or 1 million?

  4. In all fairness, I think Gandy was a holdover fromt eh previous coaching staff. But either way, he didn't hit on one FA, did he? I do think his draft record is better than you are stating though. The biggest problem may be that he took players who were able to contribute quickly for the most part, but never really had that high of a ceiling. Basically he got guys like Whitner who were what they were when he drafted them and are not better by leaps and bounds now. Same could be said of Williams, Butler, and maybe McKelvin (might be too early to tell here though). It's hard to say whether this is a problem of not drafting the right players or not being able to develop players.

I don't agree with you on Williams and Butler. Both have improved significantly each year. In terms of McKelvin you may be right. Time will tell.

  5. Criticism of both Marv's strategy and his tactics is justified. Strategically, he focused his best draft day resources on the wrong positions. With three first round picks, on a rebuilding team, he took 1 SS, 1 RB, and only one lineman of any kind (the McCargo bust). That's a bad strategy, worsened by the fact that Marv's first round picks were generally reaches.

As far as tactics go: none of the players he took in the first round are currently starters. Both his drafts combined yielded just two current starters: Brad Butler and Kyle Williams. Of those two, the former should probably be upgraded once the team gets a spare draft pick. The scary thing is that, as bad as Marv's drafts were, his free agent signings were even worse. Literally every free agent signing he made turned out to be a mistake. Peerless Price, Larry Triplett, Mike Gandy, Robert Royal, Tuten Reyes, Derrick Dockery, Langston Walker, Melvin Fowler, and probably a few other mistakes I'm forgetting. There's nothing positive on that list to offset its (many) negatives!

I agree with you on everything aside from Mike Gandy. Gandy is a serviceable if not solid starter who has done very well at LT in Arizona. Also, at the time bringing in Dockery and Walker seemed like great moves. We were all applauding that he was finally addressing the Oline. Unfortunately things did not work out, but at the time they were highly sought after FA's.

I was a big proponent of Marv. But in hindsight, I have to say that I was wrong and that he was simply not a good GM. I do however, think that his performance would not seem nearly as dismal if he had brought in a coach with a half way decent coaching staff. But again, this was his decision and he whiffed big time.

Hopefully Nix does a better job at the helm (Personally I think he is a top 5 talent evaluator in the league.)

  6. My guess is that neither you nor the "washington.scout" have seen Anderson play since the "Civil War Game" in 2005.

I actually have. I was simply using that as an example. If you would like some additional references as to his arm strength feel free to check out the links provided below...

The guy has a great arm but some difficulty with accuracy. I don't really see any argument otherwise...

  7. How many ex-Bills were in this weekend games? All of whom would be an upgrade on our team....any others?

    Hargrove

    Greer

    Winfield

    Pat Williams

    Leonard

Explain to me how Hargrove and Jim Leonard would be upgrades to this team...please...

  8. Heh. I know Wes (who has been kicking some major butt on that beat lately); I'll ask him what's up. I do know that Dooley's spoken to Joe Barry a couple of times, though, so Sanders might not be their No. 1 option.

And FWIW, I thought the Bills' DL improved under him last season. (As Lofton80 noted, he managed to get more out of McCargo than Kollar did, although that's not saying much ...)

Lori I agree with what you write 99% of the time, but I can't agree with you here. McCargo's best year was in 2007 under Kollar. See the stats below, he did nothing this year. IMO Sanders did not do a very good job this year.

    Season Team Tackles

  9. judging by your post you are lost

    Explain how I am lost.

We were THE worst team in the NFL against the run. 32 out of 32! This in part can be attributed to our smallish linebacker corps, but it all starts up front. While the defensive line may have improved in terms of sack totals this year compared to years past, in my opinion this is most attributable to Aaron Schobel being healthy (lead the team with 10 sacks.) and not Bob Sanders.

  10. Cuz i didn't even know we had a dline coach named bob sanders and was thinkin this dude ment Bob Sanders from da colts without really thinking first lolol  but obviously thats not the case. So now i wonder why anyone would give a crap about the career of a former bills coach of the worst dline in the league?

See. Now that is a good point. He was terrible. As far as why anyone would have an interest in him...I have no idea..

  11. The responsibilities of a blitzing OLB versus an OLB in the Tampa 2 are significantly different. The Tampa 2 calls for much more coverage ability from the LB corps (hence small fast LBs such as ellison.) Simply put, Maybin would not have been the right fit for a Cover 2 LB.. Is he the right fit for a 3-4 OLB? Maybe.

  12. Wendling has done nothing on special teams and probably will not be on the team very much longer .................He can go with April............we are going to finally getting rid of the special teams dead weight and instead focus on agile, mobile, violent players........

Who is going to wipe your tears when we rank at the bottom of the league in special teams and it costs us a couple of games?

I have no problem with April going because, frankly, the special teams were not special this year as he could not adjust to rule changes.

Having Special team studs like Wendling now, or Sam Aiken, Mark Pike and Steve Tasker is ALWAYS valuable.

Btw Wendling had 26 special teams tackles and and INT this year. This is very impressive for a special teams specialist. But your right, this won't be missed..He will make the team...
