  1. Thanks for the link. After reading the article it's clear that Brandon is speaking strictly of the fan interest in Toronto. And I think he's right; you CAN'T quantify how much being in playoff contention would have meant to the kind of Toronto fan that attends the Bills games up there.

    GO BILLS!!!

    Well said.

  2. Fine, respect him. Just don't start him in the NFL.

What exactly was so bad about Fitz today or last week? The guy has guts. Made some nice throws despite having NO time. How many balls were dropped today? And when was the last time you saw a QB taking on defenders head on play after play for an extra yard.

Fitz is one of the few fun things about this team IMO.

  3. Apparently no one else has noticed the the past 2 weeks we have been playing predominately a 4-3 alignment....

We are not running a true 3-4 yet (although this is the base) and have been transitioning back and forth regularly.

There is no need to scrap the scheme, we just need time to gather the right players to run it. This is what happens when you have players learning 1st year new scheme that they are not necessarily fit for.

That being said. We are pretty darn bad.

  4. Once again, effectively the same team on the field as last year. How could you expect anything else?

This in no surprise. If you think this is the start of a rebuild you shrug your shoulders and wait for better days.

If you think this is not the start of a rebuild, you either get really pissed off or you give up ... or you act like a "real fan" and proclaim that the refs are screwing us and that's why we lost the first X games and we are surely going (16-X) and X for the season.

So, by having the same team on the field as last year, we should expect at least 6 wins? Or if you consider we were .500 under Fitzpatrick and there are 14 games remaining we should expect at least 7......

AND the Refs ARE screwing us!! Its all a conspiracy theory against the Buffalo Bills by the NFL, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny...

Yes, I'm being facetious. And your right, implementing new systems this will be a long rebuilding process (again) in which we need to find the talent to fit the new systems, which unfortunately our current cast does not.

  5. I'll say it again. I liked the NFL much more before it was such a business. I understand what they want to do in terms of cleaning up the image of drinking to excess and being a family environment etc etc...Is there no Grandfather clause!? (Just kidding). Seriously though, a 20 year old staple of Bills tailgating, which has been internationally recognized and showcased on TV...cast aside...seems like a poor choice for the fans....

  6. When the message was posted about new policies at the Ralph including the shutting down of certain tailgates, I contacted the Bills by e-mail with clarification on the matters expressed and much to my surprise I received a call to discuss them today. Highlights of the call:

    1. He confirmed that a NFL representative was present at the game on Sunday to insure that the NFL fan code of conduct was not being violated.

    2. I was assured that in event to the Bills plan on shutting down anyone's tailgate (and certainly not the Pinto Party) unless it involves illegal activities that require removal from the property;

    3. They are seeking "responsible" tailgating and the NFL rep felt that the bowling shots falls outside the the code of conduct. They want it toned down but not to stop. I think they are trying to limit the drunks.

Problem is that the "NFL Code of Conduct" speaks in vague esoteric terms and, like most, codes of conduct (a/k/a law) are subject to interpretation.

To be honest, I enjoyed the NFL much more (All the way around), when it was not such a business. Basically up until the new Millennium...Just my opinion...

  7. STEP #1- Predict one NFL team to win each week (straight up/ no spread). You can't choose the same team more than once for the season. a "tie" is considered a win.

STEP #2- one final winner will be known as the King or Queen of TBD.

STEP #3- ALL losers must pay homage to the winner in the form of an over the top complimentary post.

STEP #4- This is a game of HONOR. picks MUST be made BEFORE the game starts. Post your pick in this thread. If you forget to pick one week, you are eliminated.

STEP #5- in the unlikely event this contest lasts beyond the regular season, we will revisit team eligibility for the playoffs.

Sounds awesome, but who is policing the contest and keeping track of everyone's weekly picks, who has picked what team and who is eliminated? Is there a place to sign up?

  8. Not trying to be a negative or rude.

I tried the chat room for the first Quarter and wanted to give my blunt feedback....

It was very difficult to discern who was addressing who, although that could be fixed just in the manner we are all responding (ie Addressing someone by name or abbreviating if your response pertains to something they said). People are continuously (almost obnoxiously) leaving and entering the room - not sure what solution there would be for this. My biggest issue with the chatroom is that a lot of the responses seemed to be significantly delayed- as in coming in bunches for plays that had occurred several plays before...

I understand why you want the chat room to be used. Some minor tweaks and I think it could be great. Take my opinion for what its worth!!

    Thanks SDS!

  9. LeBatarde took another shot at the Bills tonight on PTI. When asked if the pre-season games tonight were worth watching. He said something close to - Yes it's worth watching the Bills to witness a team that bad.

I know Dan dislikes us because he's a Miami guy, but overall this team is already getting laughed at. Help me out guys, I'm already feeling deflated. Not because of some idiots comments on ESPN, but because I'm starting to feel like I'm the fool for continuing to support this team. I was completely embarrassed last week by this teams play.

You should be. But at this point the wonderful folks at ESPN are piling on the "Bills stink" "Bills are horrible" bandwagon because its the convenient go to at the moment. Doesn't require any actual analysis. (Right or wrong).

  10. I have nothing but a work picnic tomorrow. So I plan on settling in around 8:30 (DVR) to watch the game. Can't wait to see some Buffalo Bills football tonight, good and bad. I am very excited to see what Spiller can do and get a greater sense for our front 7 on D because of some Vets returning.

To top it off some buddies and I will be moving our weekly microbrew beer tasting to tonight. Nothing like Buffalo Bills football and some 13.0 % ABV IPA.
