  1. IIRC, Antowain Smith was having a great game...that huge run he ran off, early in the second half, for a TD, was one of those plays that I thought, at the time, would be forever etched in my mind as a great moment in the history of the Buffalo Bills...

I had a different perspective of that game. I remember I had to work the day it was played (I hate Saturday afternoon playoff games). Living in the middle of Texas, and being a huge Bills fan, it is hard to hide. I was recording the game, to watch when I got home...being the boss, everyone knew, "do not even mention the Bills game to him today"...everything was going great...I had worked a "clopen" shift (closed the joint down the night before, back early the next morning to open) and I was pretty exhausted. But I was amped to watch the Bills game. As I was leaving the store (a record store I mananged) a mentally challenged security guard we had working with us said "all right, your Bills did it, they won!"...

I was pissed....he had blown the game for me...oh well, I thought, at least they won...I was still going to watch it, no matter what, but knowing the outcome, A WIN, took some of the urgency out for me....so I went home, took a nap. I got up, cooked some wings, and my girlfriend and I started watching the game around 10:30pm... I didn't tell my girl I knew that the Bills had won (she would have not wanted me to watch, she doesn't get it...)...

As the game wore on, I just kept smiling to myself thinking, "how the hell are they going to win this thing"...so hours later, about 1am, the infamous play happens...my gf is freaking out, but, like Wade Phillips on the tv screen, I just kind of smiled, and said, "ah..don't worry, that isn't going to count...illegal pass"....as the minutes (seemed like hours) passed as they reviewed the play, I was kind of happy, cleaning up the table, getting rid of empties...then I hear my gf shriek "Oh no...they lost!" I go back to the tv, and could not believe what I was hearing, or seeing...I had watched the whole friggin' game, sure that they Bills had won...but, they didn't.... I immediately went to work on Monday a fired the security guard!

Not really on that last thing!

    haha

could that happen to anyone but a bills fan??? great story

  2. FAIL POST

Were you complaining about Dockery coming in? Was he cheap?? Did you see how he played when here? Do you understand the DC fans are thrilled to have him back and view him as their top OL? Was signing Walker the same year cheap too?

Wilson wants them to win. He's tried a few different approaches (respected outside expert Donoschmoe, old friend Levy).

Now he's hired Nix who is something in between - hopefully the best of both worlds - a guy with a good pedigree of success who earned some trust spending one season inside the organization last year.

What "proven winner" HC are you referring to? Shanahan and Cower were offered plenty of money by all accounts. They didn't want to live in Buffalo. Ralph isn't responsible for the community, he is responsible for being willing to make less money than he could be by keeping them in Buffalo. Gailey is a proven winner - just not a big name the talking morons on TV were going to hype for you. Rather than count on them for facts, I looked them up myself.

Gailey makes his teams better, nearly every time. He had one stint as an NFL HC and his team was much better with him for two years than the periods before and after. I can think of no better measure of an HC's impact, and see no reason why he can't be expected to do the same here.

Ralph's doing what he can to win. If you want to complain that he blew it 20 years ago losing his temper and letting Polian and Butler go, fine. Since then, sticking with Jauron, bringing in Levy and Donohoe, changing the uniform colors - those were mistakes, but I don't see any reasonable proof they weren't well meaning mistakes.

I wouldn't trade Ralph for Dan Snyder in a hundred years - and Danny boy down here in DC is all you need to know that spending money is no cure for anything in the NFL.

Where did you read that? I remember reading somewhere that he was as $hitty there as he was here.

  3. If Canada and their players are so great then why do all their best players play in the NHL?

surely there must be a better league in Canada if its so great

its really killing Canadian fans that they lost to the US

That has got to be the most ignorant thing I've ever read on this board, and that is saying a lot. Good luck to you man. In everything. Looks like you're going to need it.

  4. I've been preaching it all last year and this year. He's one of the very best corners in the league. So underrated. The guy rarely gets beat. I just knew the Bills were going to let him go and resign McGee. It's how this stupid team always does things. They let the better player go, then resigned the inferior player for more money.

  5. Marv Levy's NFL head coaching experience prior to taking over the Bills (at 61 years of age) ...

    KC 1978 4 12 0 .250 5th in AFC West

    KC 1979 7 9 0 .438 5th in AFC West

    KC 1980 8 8 0 .500 3rd in AFC West

    KC 1981 9 7 0 .563 3rd in AFC West

    KC 1982 3 6 0 .333 4th in AFC West

I wonder what everyone was saying about Marv the day he was hired.

I wonder if all of these Bills fans had them dead in the water before he even coached one game.

He hasn't even assembled his staff, for God's sake.

Please. You probably wrote the exact same thing when Jauron got hired.

  6. Jabari Greer is better than any corner on the Bills and that was apparent to anyone who watched him play the last couple of years. So what does the FO do? Let him go sign with NO for 5M and resign McGee for 7M or whatever he's getting. I like McGee, but the smart move would have been to resign Greer and see what you could get for McGee on the trade market last year.

  7. Are some of you on here insane? Sanchez is a terrible QB. The Jets have horseshoes stuck up their asses. I'm not complaining here...it's not like they beat the Bills today, but let's call a spade a spade.

They were giftwrapped a postseason berth, then had quite a few breaks go their way today. I didn't catch last week's game so I can't comment, but by the looks of it, they did outplay the Bengals. Today though, three missed field goals, fluke Revis interception, etc...I mean, did Ralph Wilson put some money on the Chargers today, or what??

It's not sour grapes, it's the truth. And no, you don't make your own luck. Whoever said that is an idiot.

  8. I don't think that necessarily means he thinks he's gone, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

The problem with him is that he's not that bad where you can just cut him without any thought, but he's terribly disappointing considering where he was drafted and probably isn't deserving of a starting spot on this team. I'd love it if they could get something halfway decent for him, but I just don't see it. The best we can hope for is a miracle that a new coach will reach some untapped potential we haven't noticed yet. :wallbash:
