  1. A group with intention to move the team would out bid any group committed to stay. The evaluation gap is just too big between TO and Buff to big to expect the WNY group to compete. However, the numbers are so big that the relocation group would have to feel extremely confident they could win legally or get the NFL owners vote for relocation. Nobody is going to roll the dice over 500 million. I expect that was the framework of JBJ lunch conversation with Goodell and what Trump was so adamant that he wouldnt overpay.

  2. I am wondering, what would you have done in that situation as a head coach? It was 4th and 11 if I remember at the saints 34 yard line. Would you have punted the football or gone for it?

With Stover as the kicker I would have eliminated the kick option completely. With Manning as the QB and the Saints offense clicking... I would have gone for it.

  3. I think we are nit picking here. He has coaches that are going to the superbowl. You can't overlook that.

The coaches don't play the game. The onside kick did not bounce off of the coaches hands. Nor did the coach throw the interception. The Saints took chances and took the game from the Colts.

I did think the Colt play calling at the half was very conservative and in agreement with you I do think they were outcoached or maybe I should say out executed, but no way do I put this on Polian's ability to pick a coach.

Dungy won against the best team the NFC had to offer and he beat some good AFC teams getting there. The Bears were a good team but only for a year.

The GM is responsible for the coach. Who is responsible for preparing the players. A couple bad coaching observations from last nights game.

    - The decision to go conservative at the end of the half was poor.

    - The decision to kick a 52 yard fg that was way out of range for his kicker was poor

    - Similar to the 90 Bills, they abandoned the run when it was obviously working

    - They should have called a TO before the 4th & goal at the end of the game

    - They were outcoached.

One other note -- Nobody is giving the Saints kicker credit. Making three 40+ field goals in a SB is clutch!

  4. There is no question in my mind that Bill Polian is one if not the greatest GM in NFL history. His Bills and Colts teams were dominant for almost an entire decade. However, I think his biggest flaw is his ability to pick a great coach. Levy was a great leader and kept the personalities of the Bills teams in check. However, he was not the best at constructing a gameplan and was often outcoached especially in the big game. Dungy was the same, they beat a weak Chicago team with QB that basically gave the game away. The Colts were again outcoached last night.

As great as Polian is at picking a talented roster, he doesnt seem to put enough stock in having the best coach. I admire his loyaly, but there is a good arguement that not having the stones to pull the trigger on a coach that doesnt maximize the players talent is Polian's biggest weakness.

  5. The both get in. Carter gets in first because he has been a high profile broadcaster since he retired. He is more connected than Andre Reed and this is the difference maker. Plus, we had two get in last year... a little hiatus from Bills fans dominating the weekend last year is okay with the HOF.

We still have Reed, Tasker and possibly Bennet to go in from the Super Bowl years and then at least 15 years on nobody!

  6. I am glad to see he has turned his life and career around. However, I think there is still a screw or two loose. I wouldn't be surprised to see Anthony with a blatant late hit to Manning that sends him out of the game. He is still a mental midget and the entire defense is charged up becasue of Greggo's comments.

    Go Colts.

  7. Wilfork will never want to come here. He will be on a contending team. I mean really, Who do you think will want to come here. No big name products. Just like the coaching search.

Players will come here, but we will obviously need to have the best financial offer. Players are different than coaches, especially entering their second or third contract. While winning is important, they understand that they need to maximize their earning during their short playing career. Not too many will walk from a contract that will clearly pay them more.

I am not saying that Willfork is our guy, but to say no big name free agents would come to Buffalo is incorrect and typical cry baby mentality that our fan base has.

  8. Pick up McNeil and the OL is set. If Nix feels he is the right player its worth overpaying if necessary. If the new DC wants to play the 3-4 we needt to also go after a big DT... ideally Willfork. If you get both these players you can go QB and LB in the first two rounds of the draft. If we pick Bradford up at the 9... there should be some really good LBs still available in round two.

  9. we need to fill just 5 holes.....thats right, just 5.

3 from free agency and 2 from the draft.

    LT, QB, LB, DT, LB

I agree, we arent that far away. I would expect CG to try and work with Trent Edwards.

  10. Good post, the guy move the needle wherever he has been. He has two big things working FOR him in Buffalo.

    1) Seems to have good chemistry with Nix. This can not be overstated.

    2) Brandon, will recognize the need to spend in Free agency in order to keep the fan base. If Nix can add a few key pieces to this team through FA and draft well this team is not that far away.

  11. Thurman Thomas is a waste, nothing better to do than to live off his fame and leech off the franchise and the city. He is acting like a teenager who wants to hang out with the cool crowd. Is going to meet with Nix and discuss how he can be be a part of the team... give me a break!

  12. Calm down Mr. Pozitive! Things are actually just fine..Da Billz never wanted Shottenheimer..and everything is in the works and it's all purposely slowed down for the purposes of I mentioned in other blogs. Who ur gg to get is highly respected and it would b great if I got to c it happen! (But..I doubt it!). Just relax..there is a plan...and I think u will b very pleased come Probowl week !

Excuse me for not being familiar with your wisdom? Please elaborate... and why will you not see it happen?
