So this is one of those "fan against other fans" posts?
I never understood those.
Why not start a productive conversation about the team instead of attacking other fans and their behavior?
After all, we are here to discuss THE BILLS. Not each other.
Sensitive much? No where in my post am I attacking anyone. I am talking about the mentality of most FANS regarding the backup QB. Furthermore I did not call anyone out, nor speak of their behavior.

Why are you lashing out at the fellow fans when it was the Coaches decision? Fans will be fans….coaches bench QB's.
I'm not lashing at anyone, I'm not even speaking exclusively about just this board. I'm just generalizing, actually some of the worst comments I have seen have been on Facebook, people seem to be ruthless on that site. ( friends and family included ) I just want happy Sunday's again when the Bills are winning, as I know we all do. Go Bills!

I think no matter who it was we'd run him out. We've all seen the early stat lines of QB's we all salivate over, their never good. I agree that EJ had major issues, but in a lot of cases you just have to live with those and hope they keep learning. Maybe after a large enough sample size, you move on, but this IS much too early. There was no patience this time, somebody's head had to roll. We may win more games because of this move, but its inarguable that we now have no future at the qb position. Orton is only a stop gap and sustained success won't be with him. Sad, just sad.
I agree, he was 6-8 as a starter, and in those losses there were several that were winnable. The Atlanta game, the New England game, and even the Cleveland game. Injuries, a bad offensive line, questionable play calling, dropped passes, bad defenses. But to pin it on one guy as the scape goat just seems wrong to me. Yes he missed a few passes, yes he may be played a little scared in the pocket, but can you blame the kid? Perhaps sitting a few games, seeing his mistakes, and feeling all the negativity will light a fire under him. But most likely they just killed any confidence he had. This situation feels like the guy who has a hot wife, but has to have the hotter girlfriend.

It's the same freaking treadmill since Kelly retired. Sooooo dam painful. Now we are hoping the guy benched by Tebow delivers. Ugh this team kills me.
In fairness the only reason I believe he was benched in Denver was the fact that Tebow was a first round pick. I mean was Tebow better then Orton? I'd have to say no. Josh McDaniels was the coach at the time, enough said.

Now that everyone got their wish and Orton is the new starting quarterback, who will the backup be? It can't be EJ? Everyone in Buffalo always wants the backup to start. So the next guy we sign off the street, has to be the next golden arm messiah! Unless Orton goes 25-30 with 300+ yards and 3 TDs in his first game there will be people bitching about him to be benched. Personally I have nothing against Orton he has always been a serviceable QB. But I think most fans have the " grass is always greener " mentality. This goes back farther then EJ. Start Jackson over Fitz, start Edwards over Losman, start Flutie over Johnson. Etc, etc. I even remember when Kelly would get hurt, people thought Reich should stay the starter.....lol...Ahh yes the cult hero that is the backup QB in Buffalo. Where's Kelly Holcomb when you need him?

23-16 Buffalo wins. I think the defense or special teams needs a score or several turnovers. The offense has to be workman like, pounding the ball, and getting first downs. They score one touchdown in 5 red zone attempts, 3 field goals and one turnover. The defense slows the running game, and takes away short passes, make Fitz throw deeper then he is capable. I see a somewhat sloppy game, by both teams, but the Bills prevail in an important conference road game.

But on the bright side they do have this awesome song still playing at the stadium!...lol they stole it from the Houston Oilers.
-
'Cept at best, he needs rubber cement to hold on to the ball.
That's why I said " deep threat " not receiver...lol

Philly Brown tho!
Isn't that a sandwich with extra gravy?

I actually think that he would fit nicely back in Carolina. He can take the top off a defense and keep those safeties away from the LOS. That would help open things up for Olsen and the running game. It would be a nice addition for Cam.
I agree, other then Olsen (TE) , and Benjamin, they don't really have great receivers. He could be good deep threat for them. They are also hurting at RB, so I'm sure a few moves are upcoming.

It looks like obviously you need more then speed to make it as an NFL receiver. I wonder if he gets picked up by any team, or if his short career is over? With Easley out is there a chance we re-sign him? I don't really see it, but stranger things have happened.

Ditka, Munchak, Jason Garrett
Ahh yes, and those were easy answers. Once I read it, I was like "duh!". My mind is scattered today. I do see progress with Marrone, will it continue? Will he get better? I don't know, but there's 13 more weeks to answer those questions. I for one will sit back, and try to enjoy the ride!

He will not need to hire a big name expensive coach. And we will not care. The next HC will be none other than Frank Reich who will lead the great comeback in NFL and Bills history..................twice
Interesting idea. But is Reich ready to be a HC? It made me think, has there ever been a player for a team that went on to be the head coach of the same team? It's Monday, so of course my mind is a blank.

Both guards have looked bad, maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Chris Williams is hurt, put CR, at left guard. And put Urbik back at right guard. The line as a whole haven't been that bad. But the guard play can be improved. Pears was a turnstile at his natural position of tackle last year, the move to guard has not worked.I'm not an offensive line guru, but that's just a fans assessment.

This will be the best looking game on TV this weekend. Buffalo has the best colors, and uniforms in the NFL, San Diego is a close second. I love their powder blues!

Do whatever you have to do to get the ball in the hands of our play makers. Sammy is a YAC player. Williams can go up and get it, and Woods is our best receiver right now. We have plenty of weapons, just use them the right way and success will follow.

Never buy mopar anything, unless you like fixing transmissions $$. They just can`t seem to get it,going back to the 60`s.
I agree sir, about to put a new transmission in my '08 Jeep, with only 60k miles...pfft. I'm sure driving in the Everglades in two feet of water didn't help, but still.

I live between Tampa, and Miami, hate the Dolphins for obvious reasons. Never really liked or disliked the Bucs. However I was glad to see them finally win a Superbowl, and a Stanley Cup, thinking we were soon to join the parade. I am still thinking that way, forever optimistic. I can also tell you the Miami fans are bigger whiners, and band wagon fans then Buffalo will ever see!

and if you think Mallett was going to be brought in to be the backup, I have some waterfront property in Florida for sale, you interested?
I might be interested, is there a confounded bridge anywhere close by?
Buffalo fans, and their love for the backup QB.

Yes that was my point, just didn't make it clear enough. Those were games he did enough to win, yet when you look at his record of 6-8 people see just that. But you can't blame him for all 8 losses. Would we be having backup QB discussions if he was 8-6? I hope not.
