That said, the moral of the story is win at all cost or else its gunna cost ya I remember in the early 90's when the indoor lacrosse first came to Buffalo, the Aud was jammed to the rafters with 16,000+ spectators. The Buffalo News released the player salaries, and the best guys in the league were making about $200/game, with some as low as $50/game. I think the players have since unionized and do a bit better now, but somebody made a pretty good dime off of those guys for a few years...Still today, the players all play out of love for the game, they have real full-time jobs... but the early 90's profit margins had to be incredible, at least for the Bandits... Unlike boxing, where a boxer is "knocked-out" but is given a standing 8-count to recover to get bludgoned again, in teh UFC the fight would be over. ALso, a fighter has the freedom to "tap-out" any time. Most make the arguments that the fights are much safer than boxing. UFC fighters take far fewer blows to the head in a MMA fight with 3 or f rounds than a boxer would in a sport that only stresses striking and goes 10-15 rounds. Critics have been waiting for 14 year for a death or serious injury to happen inside the octagon. I'm sure the odds will catch up to them someday, but so far they have a pretty good track record.
