Something to keep in mind with "draft grades"

Recommended Posts

When a draft guru like Kiper makes up a mock draft (wich changes 20 times before draft day, by the way,) what happens when a team doesn't follow his script? They get a bad grade, of course! Why? Because it spoils their prediction track record. It makes them look bad.

So when the Bills draft Whittner, you're not going to hear Kiper say "...Whittner! Wow, good player the Bills needed. Great move!" No, he's going to say "...I had him slotted 15 rounds later. I don't get that pick!"

It's all about the guru. The grades reflect how closely they come to their own predictions, not who got the best players.
