Ultimately, they solved them...and the niche market turned out to be entirely unlike the original "country club in the sky" vision of the plane. Again...Airbus WILL find themselves building 800-seat versions in short order for the Pacific Rim. The bigger issue that will pop up will be when one of these suckers crashes. Lots of people will die, and there will be a push to outlaw planes larger than a given size on the principle that they're inherently dangerous in that it's impossible to evacuate 800 people from a plane in timely fashion. 601152[/snapback] Well if there was and engine failure on just one of the four engine the whole plane would crash. Unlike the 747 and the plane is not light enough that is could make an emergency landing on 3 engines. 747 is a half double decker plane while the Airbus is a full double decker plane. There's way too much weight of just one of the engines fail. It will drop out of the sky so fast if that happens. They might only has a slim chance of making an emergency landing at a nearby airport the way I see it. But even then, most airports aren't equipped to handle such a big plane. Even f the pilot were able to touch down on the runway he would run out of runway because from what they say the plane needs and extra 1/4 of a mile to make a successful landing. It will be another one those accidents like a few weeks ago when that plane skidded of the runway killing that kid in the car. However it if happens again it won't be because of weather conditions. I told him the Howard Hughes story on how he built it and everybody told him it wouldn't fly... Told him that HH got into it and flew it just off the water for short spell... He landed the thing, got out and said the short sentence: "It flies!" and walked away... Or some I recall. CTM, probably's know more on that story(and most likely the web site)? British Airways and the likes of them will be buying them like crazy ! Australia, Asia are all perfect routes and customers for these bad boys !
