Southern Cal (24 signees) Includes seven of California's 10 best and it's littered with blue chips from coast-to-coast. 2. Florida (27 signees) Fought USC to the finish ... more 1a and 1b than 1 and 2. Clearly the year's best classes. 3. Florida State (30 signees) Another fast and furious close; it's long on numbers – 30 signatures in all. 4. Georgia (27 signees) Reshad Jones' pledge on Wednesday finishes off what fellow five-star Stafford started in the summer. 5. Texas (25 signees) In-state dominance. The Longhorns "selected" more than they "recruited" inside the Lone Star State. 6. Penn State (24 signees) Couldn't have done much better: Seven of the top 10 recruits in Maryland and eight D-linemen. 7. LSU (25 signees) Who says Les Miles isn't fit to follow Nick Saban? Nine of Louisiana's top 10 will suit for the Tigers. 8. Notre Dame (27 signees) Charlie Weis proves his recruiting acumen may be as sharp as his play-calling. 9. Oklahoma (28 signees) Filling O-line needs and closing with in-state studs McCoy and Jermaine Gresham were huge. 10. Auburn (25 signees) The Tigers are the SEC's quiet assassins, assembling another deep group of supreme athletes. 11. Alabama (23 signees) The knock on this year's Tide team was offensive line. Andre Smith is here to answer. 12. Ohio State (20 signees) RB Chris Wells is the impact guy; the depth comes from four four-star linebackers. 13. Michigan (19 signees) Four-star DB Jonas Mouton was a late coup in a sturdy class. 14. Miami (Fla.) (22 signees) It's a decent class but it's the first for the Hurricanes to rank outside of our top 10 this decade. 15. Clemson (20 signees) Pulled off one of Signing Day's biggest surprises when they landed Spiller, the No. 1 player in Florida. 16. Ole Miss (29 signees) Quarterback Brent Schaeffer comes with five stars and previous SEC experience. 17. UCLA (22 signees) Four four-star offensive linemen headline another solid effort for Karl Dorrell and Co. 18. Arizona (25 signees) Classes like this are the reason Mike Stoops is here; the impact will be on the defensive side. 19. California (20 signees) It's a well-balanced class loaded with great athletes. 20. Nebraska (22 signees) The receivers have a chance to have the most impact, along with five-star DB Andre Jones. 21. Pittsburgh (25 signees) The Panthers bulked up on in-state commitments with six four-star signees. 22. Oklahoma State (28 signees) OSU made Texas a priority and brought in four Rivals250 defenders from the Lone Star State. 23. Tennessee (22 signees) Down year for the Vols; still picked up Fisher and two four-star offensive linemen. 24. South Carolina (24 signees) The Gamecocks addressed a major need with four four-star linemen. 25. Texas A&M (22 signees) Want skill position players? Here is an article about a RB PSU landed: Before national signing day, Penn State coach Joe Paterno said his incoming recruiting class included one of the best running backs he has ever seen. Though he couldn't name him at that point because of NCAA rules, Paterno was clearly talking about Austin Scott from Parkland High in Allentown, Pa. You just knew Pete Carroll was going to have a solid class at USC. He is a defensive coach, and it was clear all season that his team did not have the top-flight athletes on defense that they did on offense. Our D-line will be solid for years with the addition of Deas and Al Woods to go along with blue chip DE's Ricky Jean Francois and Al Jones from last years class. Still awaiting word on Keiland Williams who would be the icing on the cake if he followed through on his commitment and signed with us. Got a pair of good QBs to battle out to be Brady's potential successor, got a top OL, RB and CB (which we sorely need). I'm a little miffed about the lack of WRs though. I don't know if we didn't go after the top guys or what but it would seem Charlie's offense is a WR's dream. A wide open, pro scheme with a great coach who has countless NFL connections.
