No matter. This tragedy has nothing to do with the FAA and looks like an uncontained engine explosion which may not have been possible to recover from, though time will tell.

Engine failures are trained to all the time, and engines have kevlar to keep parts "contained."

This may have been beyond that ability.

 

No, they don't have a right to coordinate a sick-out. The government will pay them, and pay them quite handsomely.

Actually ... yes.

The costs should be on the airlines, and of course those costs will be passed onto the passengers. It's a user fee. We have them for all kinds of things.
