Obviously we have a coordinated sick-out among air traffic controllers.

In other words, a mini-strike.

This is where we see the difference between a Reagan and a Trump. Reagan dealt with an illegal strike by firing the strikers.

Trump has Duffy issue tepid warnings to the absent controllers. For all his bluster, he is not about to take the risk of causing Americans to miss their flights.

Completely different situation.

The ATC strike was an illegal violation.

This is not.

This is a political game using human pawns.

They have every right to call in sick when the gov refuses to pay them.

All the more reason to privatize the ATC function of the FAA, so it can no longer be used by stupid, reckless politicians.

No matter. This tragedy has nothing to do with the FAA and looks like an uncontained engine explosion which may not have been possible to recover from, though time will tell.

Engine failures are trained to all the time, and engines have kevlar to keep parts "contained."

This may have been beyond that ability.

Explanation for the slow,

(yes his post was sympathetic, but why did he go back and resurrect an old "Blame Trump' for airline safety thread to post this news ?)

Why would you ever risk something like ATC being at the hands of board rooms, profit margins, and the like? Horrible idea
