Peter King relayed  a story last year. involving a fan asking Rodger Goodell about ball tracking with a chip and if that would eliminate the need for things like the chain measurement.

Goodell essentially winked and replied, sure they can use more technology, but it’s great drama in those moments, and at the end of the day the NFL is an entertainment product.

I follow every Bills roster move, moment of every game, and have for years. Yes, I remember the games and how it felt when the Bills won or lost, but more importantly it’s all the moments in between watching the game with friends, family or 70,000 likeminded strangers in the stadium that stick with me and matter. The game is a means to all the other bonds we make along the way. It has no other meaning outside itself that impacts our every day lives.

Which brings me to the last part, while scrolling twitter this morning for all the latest takes, I came across the below from one of the Patriots beat writers and when you talk about a terrible loss last night this really squared things away for me.

i sent off a donation and perhaps I thought others might be inspired too.il If you can perhaps, send  $17 to honor the great season Josh brought us and how he gave it his all every week.

Remember, we are all one big family.  Regardless  of anything else, the NFL and the Bills are one of the few things that bring us all together across all socioeconomic and political lines. The outcome of any one game or season never matters, it’s those around us who we share it with

Just want to be clear, too, I by no means meant to belittle anyone’s feelings today and if they are hurting. It is real, I feel down myself and quite frankly we know folks do not discuss their feelings enough.

I just wanted to perhaps find a way to identify the root of those feelings, and it is to me at least understand why I feel the way I do after a game.
