UConn James Posted April 28, 2005 Share Posted April 28, 2005 So, is this a quasi-playoff system where the BCS games have input into who plays in the Championship, or just that they're going to delay the controversy of #1 vs. #2, according to the computer, by another week and piss off more fans? Sounds like the latter. But the three articles I've read about it aren't very clearly written. If they're extending the season by a week, I don't see the reason why they don't have a playoff. Then again, it's the BCS. Link The yet-unnamed game – an extra championship game if you will – will determine the BCS champion and will be played one week after the Fiesta Bowl, which will maintain its early January date. The BCS set the new title game for Jan. 8, 2007 during its meetings in Scottsdale. This fifth bowl is part of an expanded BCS and will rotate among the Valley, Miami, New Orleans and Pasadena, Calif., but still is not a traditional playoff. The top two teams in the BCS standings after the regular season will meet, as they did the past several seasons, in the BCS title game. Then, there's some news re: automatic bids.
