Why was Bledsoe released BEFORE Feb 22?

As calculating as Donahoe is (which isn't a bad thing), why would he go out of his way and announce releasing Bledsoe before he had to? To openly display that he made a mistake? Was he truly looking out for DB's welfare? I don't believe it. The old cat burgler is up to something. Could somebody explain a logical reason for this?

Because he didn't want to play "third" fiddle to the Raiders and Rich Gannon

What difference would it make ?

No trade was available - everyone involved knew it was coming :)

Doing this move early does save Bledsoe from twisting in the wind a bit, and this treatment of a player as human being rather than just as a commodity will hold TD and the Bills in good stead with FAs in the future as they shop for teams.

Rather than the message a future FA will or can take from this is the correct message that TD and the Bills are willing to cut a guy aimply when they are done with him, they have sent out and are selling their framing of this as they are doing a "stand-up" thing for this guy when actually they are throwing him out the door.

It's not a "TD" thing

It's just as business is done - now - (as the salary cap and all the players involved) have evolved since the cap's inception

Players are now jettisoned when expendable and the costs are just figured in -

It's a two-edged sword - players get the signing bonus -

owners gets to cut the non-guarateed salaries

Sounds like a bargainning chip in 2006 :)
