Glad the NFL changed this

Recommended Posts

Watching NFL countdown this morning and they showed some replay of a game winning touchdown--ruled a completion by way of the "force out" rule.

Couldn't help but realize the 180 degree turn the NFL has made in regard to scoring plays:

With the force out rule, the referee got to decide (based on whatever they ACTUALLY saw in a play with the naked eye)if they "thought" the receiver would have come down with both feet in bounds--had they not been pushed out by the defender.

Now, every single scoring play is automatically reviewed, using slow motion replays and crazy magnified images that coould probably reveal not just whether the reciever's second food came down in bounds, but how many blades of grass his foot clipped on the way down.

Overall, is this a good direction the game is going in? Decidedly away from the elements of "human error" that other sports like baseball still cling to?
