What in the world are the Bengals thinking?!

Recommended Posts

Another Cincinnati Bengal was arrested just this morning.

And yes. He had a prior record of alcohol-related incidents. I guess this would be his 3rd strike.

Must have been a real dust-up. :)

He paid an eighty-dollar bond and walked out. CIN has 10 wrs to evaluate - doubtful he was going to make the cut. IIRC, he's been hanging around for 2 years, cut, signed, cut, signed etc.

The Bengals are nothing if not consistent. I thought they might "Purify" their player acquisition process, but no.

One of their castoffs who's become a really good player is Ahmad Brooks, who's a rush backer for the 49ers now.

The guy is really tough to handle coming off the edge and I think is an off-the-radar sack specialist.

If memory serves, he was acquired in the supplementary draft (does that still exist?). He certainly had question marks. I believe he was booted off UVA's team at some point

There were very high hopes for him based on his play in '06, but again if I recall, he was injured early in '07. He was accused of some crime, which turned out to be a false accusation. I've not heard anything about his parting of the ways with CIN.

I'm glad to hear he's doing well.

"Purify"... :w00t: Good one!

He's a fair talent, especially on ST. But evidently a head case...which was known. I can't see him surviving the CIN cuts - they have 10 wrs on their roster at the moment.

Good point. He hasn't survived a whole season in years and it is very doubtfull that he will still be

with the team by the regular season game on the 21st of November.

It's just another second chance.

An opinion piece:

Bengals' talks with Pacman Jones don't make sense

Paul Daugherty, Cincinnati Enquirer,May 5, 2010

...“Keep them occupied, keep them busy; keep them playing on the football field, on the basketball court; keep them in our shops, our crafts, our hobby clubs. This is how you can develop good boys and girls and help eliminate so-called juvenile delinquency." - Father Edward J. Flanagan, circa 1939."

BOYS TOWN – In the business of developing good boys, the Bengals have hit and missed over the years, more of the latter. That doesn’t mean they’ll stop trying, though, bless ‘em. Pacman Jones is close to signing with The Redeemer’s team."
