Draft Day Steals

Levi Brown/QB/Troy St./Seventh Round/Buffalo Bills - Buffalo surprisingly waited until the seventh round to address the quarterback position.

It could be that they want to give Trent Edwards another chance. Or it could be new coaching staff wants to take a longer look at Brian Brohm.

The bottom line is the future at the quarterback for the Bills is unsettled.

With Brown, Buffalo is getting an athletic quarterback with a good arm. Brown's big issue is that he tends to push the ball than firing it. That mechanical flaw is very fixable, according to several personnel evaluators.

The Bills won't be asking Brown to play this season, but once the two other quarterbacks have their futures settled after this season, Brown could be moving up the ladder on the depth chart rather quickly.

Marcus Easley/WR/Connecticut/Fourth Round/Buffalo Bills - Until his Senior season, Easley probably would have gone undrafted. But his final season at Connecticut opened the eyes of many NFL teams.

Easley, who has good size, posted close to 50 receptions in his final season, but with over 18 yards/catch.

What also boosted his draft value was a very good performance during the NFL Combine earlier this year. He posted a solid 4.40 in the 40-yard dash. His 10-yard and short shuttle times were also solid.

Easley was fortunate to get drafted by a team which has big issues at receiver. The Bills open have one starting job set, so the rookie will have a chance to move up the depth chart quickly.

Arthur Moats/OLB/Buffalo Bills/Sixth Round/James Madison - Moats played defensive end in college, but will transition to the outside linebacker position at the NFL level with the Bills.

Moats is considered small by NFL standards, but has 33 3/4 inch arms. Having long arms is a good trait to have for a pass rusher.

Some personnel evaluators have likened Moats to Pittsburgh Steelers OLB James Harrison--a smaller player who has a great motor and is hard to keep off the quarterback.
