OT - That smell in Dallas

Defensively, Dallas has collapsed from being No. 1 in the league a year ago to No. 28. There are a lot of reasons, and one was the disastrous signing of defensive end Marcellus Wiley. Parcells did some investigating into Wiley before he gave him a $4.5 million signing bonus on a four-year contract, but whatever he was told wasn't right. Instead of getting a pass rusher who would give his defense added pressure on quarterbacks, he ended up with a nitwit who now goes by the nickname "Dat Dude," which is how Wiley introduced himself on "Monday Night Football." He soon may be known as Dat Unemployed Dude.

Wiley has no sacks and barely a dozen tackles. You'd think he'd have at least one sack just by tripping over someone and falling into a quarterback. Parcells tried to address that in practice and over the previous two Sundays by playing more of the 3-4 defense he has favored throughout his coaching career. Problem is, he doesn't have the right personnel, lacking size on the line and at linebacker.

I saw a series of interviews with Drew Brees and Marty Schottenheimer (sp?) about their success this year. Marty mentioned Marcellus Wiley as one of the players that they let go, and are more successful playing someone with less talent at the postion.
