  1. Knowing what you are talking about and the willingness to bet money an a prediction are not mutually exclusive. You can know what you are talking about and still get a playoff prediction wrong you know. How many former professional football personalities on TV make picks every week? Have they always gotten every game pick correct? Didn't think so. But that doesn't mean that they don't know what they are talking about.

Although good for you on paying up! I never would have made that bet myself, but I too was thinking playoffs last year after the fast start.

Thanks for clearing that up! You are right, of course, but there are also people that have no idea what they are talking about and are sometimes right. Who woulda thunk it?

There are also people who aren't very realistic, that insist that they know what they are talking about. The offer is for them...capiche?

So you want to bet on your team not making the playoffs on a fanboard for that team? You're awesome.

I didn't say I'm happy about them not making it.

    So you're in?

  2. Arent you a spunky one? Are you really calling people out to make bets? You know whoever loses will just renig on their commitment. I havent read through all the posts, but I'm willing to believe that most people are saying that they have a chance to make the playoffs, not that the ARE going to make the playoffs. You, on the other hand, think they there is NO WAY they make the playoffs. You can't see into the future, unless you are Jesus reincarnated, which I KNOW you're not. So, go take your soothsayer predictions elsewhere, I'll watch the season and see how it shakes out instead.

Last season, (after 5 games) I bet THEY WOULD make the playoffs, and lost the bet,. I paid in full ($150.00), and "bbb" can vouch for me, I have never met him, had some mildly contentious differences of opinion with him, and will probably never even see the guy. I paid him and I live on the other side of the country!. I may be annoying, but I stand behind what I say. So many others here want to act like they know what they are talking about, but don't want to put ANYTHING on the line.

  3. idk what it is about this board but of all the fan sites i have participated in over the years this one is the most gloomy see the bad side of everything we suck no matter what the record i have ever seen. i mean, all fan boards are bad, its sort of the sad reflective commentary on the masses generally miserably selfish outlook on life, but this one takes the cake

granted, its been real bad being a bills fan this last decade plus. it seems no hot start is good enough, no success is sustainable, no set of scrubs with nothing to play for can be beat by the starters for a playoff spot. and for sure this isnt an elite team, more accurately just one of the pack that may or may not distinguish itself and emerge as a legit playoff threat over the remaining games

but here it is one third into the season, the bills are as alive as almost anybody for a playoff spot, the team is amazingly healthy so far, and theres still probably the easiest schedule in the nfl left to be played from here on out. i mean, why in the world would anyone even remotely entertain the idea that the season is over? its like youre making out with a halfway decent partially drunk girl who seems to be just getting juicy and youre running to the bathroom to rub one out

    yall are crazy

What a coincidence that the team with the longest playoff drought would have the most gloomy messageboard!

Anyone want to make a bet that they don't make the playoffs?

  4. Bowe has reportedly expressed his unhappiness with Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports. Cole says that one team could be Miami, but I am hearing that Buffalo will definitely look at him if he is available for trade. It could be what saves Chan.

    http://nomorelinks....ded-to-buffalo/

What would they do with him? Fitz can't get the ball to the receivers. To trade for Bowe would be silly. I'm not even trying to use this thread to beat up on Fitz, it's just true. He can't even get the best out of what he has already.

  5. I don't think he is playing well because it's his contract year either. He is too enthusiastic to just be doing it for the money. I think he takes pride in his game, and that is something that is lacking on this team. In fact, it might be the biggest missing piece of the puzzle (at least on defense).

I think the Bills need more guys that base their self-worth on their ability to win football games. They don't even have to be the greatest players. In "real life" it's rather sad (I'm sure some will disagree , but I think Jim Kelly, and Daryl Talley fall into this category), but I think that (generally) the best players really can't do anything else! And their ego is entirely dependent on how well they play, and winning games. I don't get that feeling from many on this team. I got it from Whitner, and I get it from McKelvin. It takes some damaged, maladjusted, violent guys to win NFL games. Think Lawrence Taylor... Ray Lewis!

  6. I no longer mind if a player talks "smack" about other teams before a game. It at least tells me he is putting some pride on the line, and won't coast. Even though Whitner sucked, at least I knew he was gonna put himself into the game. I have my doubts about other players doing that, for instance Mario Williams. I would be very excited to hear him guarantee a victory over the Pats or Jets. Then I know the guy is gonna show up.

As an aside, is anyone gonna make a big deal out of Gailey comparing football to war?

  7. What the fellas that say stick with Chan don't get is so many games the last 2 years have been winnable if not for the pass happy Fitz lover. Instead of more running the ball with his two top RB's Gailey prefers to have the backup QB throw. Right now I'd like to see what that O line looks like with TJ behind center. Talk about a lame duck, Gailey chose Fitz over a rookie for 3 years now. He doesn't know talent, assistants...just look at the defense!

Anyway, even tho RW isn't "comfortable" with Marty S. I would choose him over anyone else at this juncture. The Bills need a HC that knows not just the HCing job but the entire football operations side. Know who to draft, and can judge asses talent on the entire team, knows what assistants to hire.

The Bills are desperate for a HC that will build a power running game and strong defense, its the only way to win in Buffalo when the snow falls and that winter wind whips up in RW stadium.

You mean like when Kelly was the QB?

He has been pass happy, but with a good passer he should be fine. A big factor in keeping Gailey would be stability, the team needs that.

  8. The Jets are just funny to me. The Pats have been destroying the Bills AND dominating the league (at least in the regular season, and sometimes the Super Bowl). The Jets are minor to me. A team that if the Bills could just get their act halfway together, they could beat at least half the time. The duo of Belichek (I never know how to spell it), and Brady have been laughing at the Bills, running up the score, and generally teabagging the team, Front Office, City, and fans for their entire time in NE (basically).

I don't think there is even a comparison between the two.

  9. Ridiculous, isn't it?

EDIT: Don't confuse me identifying a pattern in the "conventional wisdom", with me thinking that "wisdom" is involved in this in any way whatsoever.

I'm merely saying, that had we played a great game, and coached a great game, but lost, it wouldn't matter to the people who are looking to get rid of Fitz and Chan. They would simply say "we lost". There is a perfect analogy here, but I'm not allowed to use it.

I can merely say: using "we won", as the sole predicate for an argument, is equally as mind-numbing as saying "we lost", and I am merely illustrating that.

I don't care about any of that. I just watch the games and evaluate what I see.

I see a bad team. Particularly the QB. I expect that they will win some more games, and may "challenge" for a playoff spot, but there is nothing but heartbreak ahead for anyone that marries this trollop of a team.

  10. Might be to late to place a bet on the Bills not making the playoffs, but you could just bet the Bills to lose every game.

    PTR

Good idea! Except they always include a spread. Straight up make/not make playoffs (what we are all really discussing) this team is a !@#$ing loooooserrrrrr!

I almost feel like Fitz's inconsistency provides hope. If he can be the QB down the stretch he was at the beginning of last year, we may have a chance. lol.

Love that we're in the playoffs as of right now!

These kind of posts make me really sad. As someone that was a fan through the Kelly Era, it's just feels pathetic to think this is the standard for current Bills fans.

  11. Agree that they had 8 in the box... Best call would have been Graham up the seam against the safety. A draw play would have been nice too....

One thing that is really bothering me is that TJ Graham seems like he could have some impact on games, but Fitz can't get it to him anywhere beyond 5 yards from the line!

  12. Yep.

See, if we had lost, but...Chan had coached a great game and Fitz had thrown for 3 TDs and no picks and Fred ran for 100 yards and so did Spiller and Stevie had the catch of the weekend and the D line had 10 sacks...but we lost?

    Then...

We lost...Would be what the negative people would say.

So, for today. They have to deal with

    We Won

as the only thing that matters. It's pig-headed, it's frustrating...but so is saying "We Lost". So, today, you have to deal with We Won. Enjoy!

So because the team won they are above criticism as individual players? And if they lose, a player isn't eligible to be praised?
