Everyone has us beating Cleveland. I just don't see that happening. They have a better QB, a better RB and a better D. Neither of us have proven receiver squad.
You say that with such conviction, and I really don't know why. What has Weeden proved? Trent and CJ are both great backs, but I'm still taking Spiller every day of the week. Both D's look very improved, that one is a total toss up until we see them play regular season games.

In a surprise move, the Patriots have cut cornerback Ras-I Dowling.
Heading into the 2011 NFL draft, the Patriots liked Dowling so much that they took him with the first pick in the second round (a pick they had previously acquired in a trade with the Panthers). And Dowling showed early promise, starting the first two games of the season.
But Dowling suffered a hip injury in Week Two of his rookie year and missed the rest of the season, and Dowling’s 2012 season was also cut short because of an injury, this time a torn muscle in his thigh. Through two seasons Dowling has played in only nine games.
Sure, why not? At the very least, maybe he can reveal some of the Pats* week one plans .

I consider Mayock one of the smartest football pundits in the business, so for me this is welcome news.

I would sit back and order a hot dog, a Dr. Pepper and some Chili Nachos while letting my underlings call the plays.
I mean really? With the hot mess we have become in the last few days do you think Billy B will even seriously game plan? They are thinking week 2 already
This isn't the University of Florida opening up the season with Roast Beef Tech before they go into SEC play. This is the NFL. NO coaches "look ahead to the next week". They cannot afford to. And if they did, their teams would get smoked. Grow up, Peter Pan.

Anything from Jay-Z, Eminem or Notorious BIG. Beyond that, I could probably do without rap.
Edit: I also enjoy a lot of stuff from Nas.

How do I stop CJ Spiller?

Awful news. Arguably the most indispensable player on this roster.

I love College gameday & that is pretty much the only thing I watch except for the games on ESPN. It is worth the view just to get a glimpse of Samantha Ponder. The College Gameday for basketball is great too.
This is a good point. Their off-site programs like Gameday do have a lot more substance than anything you see in-studio. College Football Gameday is a great show, and has been for 20 years.

He single handedly cost the 49ers the Super Bowl with his lapses in coverage that allowed 3 TD's. Say what you will after that. Rank him wherever, but I for one am glad he is not on our roster anymore.
This ^. And lapses in coverage happen all the time for Whitner. They're just not always during the most watched television broadcast of the year.

I am wondering why you hate ESPN yet you seem to always be in it?
I was referring to your odd comment prior to this one, but to answer your question, I don't "Hate" ESPN as a whole, I have just grown increasingly frustrated by their lack of quality insight on NFL-related issues. NFL Network, PFT, PFF and others have all passed them in this category.
And how would you know if I'm "always" on their site, Loaf?
-
You think I care if other people hate him? I don't even know your friend how would I know I wouldn't hate them?
.....Huh?
-
Without quoting your post, Bandit, where is Gilmore on your list? He is already an infinitely better player than Donte Whitner ever was.
-
I don't know...Whitner seems to be be pretty highly-regarded outside of WNY. I don't think it is just ESPN. Like most any DB, he has missed, but he also made some pretty big plays for the 49ers last year.
According to Pro Football Focus, Whitner gave up more touchdowns (8) than any safety in the league last year. And this is on a great defense. The perception of his worth is based solely on the success of the parts around him. He is not at all a good football player.
-
They seem to think that Donte Whitner is the 64th best defensive player in all of football.

They must have missed that game in early February. Or most any other for that matter.

This is a discouraging sign for the state of the NFL.....

That's some absurd speculation right there. WTF does Ed Werder know anyways? Isn't he camped out at the Cowboys facilities like every other year?
-
#1 - McKelvin can't play a lick of cornerback.
I think that's a bit strong. Leodis has always shown the ability to run stride for stride with any receiver in the league. He's often in good position. His problems come when it's time to make a play on the ball. I believe that this can be taught. The speed and hip fluidity to stay with a receiver cannot. I'm hoping that this new coaching staff can do something to improve his ball skills. If they can, McKelvin can still be a good corner in this league.
-
And there ya have it, the Bills are back. BAM!
-
Now lets shore up that #2 corner spot and this D could be scary good....
-
Not bad... You may find that packaging in a RB with a QB and WR will net you a solid starting QB. Depth is important, but the bench doesn't score you points... I drafted 3rd in a 10 team league last week:
Wilson, Cutler
Bryant, Cruz, A. Brown, Wright
Martin, Rice, Lacy, FredEx, Ingram
Gronk, Davis
Matt Bryant
NE, Balt
How did you possibly get Ray Rice at #18 overall? That's absurd....
-
I'm open for suggestions at corner....

I'm only in my mid-twenties, and I remember when I was young and just starting to get real into the Bills, Spielman was my favorite and the first jersey I can remember having. NO ONE played the game harder than that guy. Quintessential pro. Quintessential human being. He's doing a lot of good in honor of his late wife.

And practice conditions exactly match regular season game conditions.
Never said they did. The point is that if you were rarely seeing downfield passes throughout the entirety of training camp, then maybe some concern is justified. However, they are happening all the time, so it isn't justified to base your concern on two preseason games without them.
-
The fact that some people are citing "Lack of deep passes" is laughable to me. Why? Because there hasn't been a 50 yard bomb in either of the first two preseason games yet? Goodwin seemingly can't go a single practice without catching one, and Graham and Rogers have too, so obviously it's a big part of the playbook. Not a worry for me what so ever.

The "Let him do CJ Spiller stuff" is epic  .
