  1. If you're going to take a NT, why not Mt. Cody?

Because Cody is a two down NT?

    OK.

If Troop is an every down NT, then we're good.

Doubt that, considering he is a whopping 6 lbs heavier than Kyle Williams....The knock on WIlliams up until this point is that he is too small to play in a 3-4 yet we draft a guy 6 lbs heavier to play the same spot?? Just don't get it...I guess depth is good and i was fine with Williams being in there cuz he's a beast, but i think we could have gone in a different direction...OT?

  2. So let me get this straight: We trade McGahee for two 3rd-rounders and a 7, then pick Marshawn at #12 to replace him. Three years later, we trade Marshawn for ??? (maybe a 3rd-rounder? Maybe Peterson - a solid starter on the downside of his career) and draft CJ Spiller at #9 to replace him.

And this is supposed to be a good thing? Where are all the people who scream about how we can't even consider taking a QB until we have 5 all-pros on the O-line? That argument's even STRONGER when applied to RBs. And Spiller is a "luxury" type player, the kind of guy who really succeeds when you've got a strong team with a good foundation, and a guy like Spiller (or Percy Harvin last year) can just come in and make a few big plays in a limited role. Does that sound like our team? Gah! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

People, RB is the quickest-developing position, and also the one with the shortest shelf life. QB is usually the slowest-developing, and can have one of the longest shelf lives. The O-line as a whole typically takes a year or two to perform at a high level, because of the level of cohesion and familiarity required amongst the 5 members. So it is absolute stupidity for a team like the Bills, who have neither a good QB nor a good O-line, nor a good defense, to take an undersized RB at #9 overall.

Easy solution..(definately won't happen) trade Lynch for a 2nd or 3rd round pick, draft Spiller at #9, trade #42 to Baltimore for Gaither, take the next best DT/OLB on the board with the next two picks (maybe two in round 3). Finish out the draft with one of the many QB's named in every other thread on this board, and a couple late round O-linemen.....too easy...way too easy..

  3. If he's there in the 4th I'd take him. He was a good college player, but I worry about him being able to play sideline to sideline and how he will fair in pass coverage considering he's only as fast as the average offensive lineman.

He is exactly what the Bills are missing.....someone who will do anything to make a play, including but not limited to gouging your eyeball out! :flirt: The Bills need to get NASTY, especially on the O-Line. But i'd take a nasty A$$ LB too....

anybody with espn insider willing to post what is written in the article?

Here ya go....i think the comments are more interesting than the article itself..

Updating the Jared Gaither saga -- for some background, click here -- there was a report from Jason La Canfora of NFL.com last week that a trade could get done for the LT with just a high second-round pick coming back to the Ravens in return. As we know, Gaither was tendered at the first-round RFA level, so if a team signed him away with an offer sheet the Ravens didn't match, they'd send their first-round pick to Baltimore.

In essence, this now means that teams who were previously scared off because they picked so high in the first round are now back in the picture. Our speculation at the time was that the Redskins (No. 37 overall) could be in that cohort, but that's out of the question now that they've shipped the pick to Philly as part of the Donovan McNabb deal. The Raiders (No. 39 overall) and Bills (No. 41 overall) are the two teams most likely to get in the mix.

Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com addressed the Bills' possible interest in Gaither recently.

In exchange for a late first-rounder or early second-rounder, Gaither is a great value, according to Football Scientist KC Joyner, and depending on what happens with the LT-needy teams in the first round, Gaither could be the big story of Day 2 of the draft, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter:

    This could get interesting

"Baltimore has a surplus of tackles, and for the right price, it will deal Gaither. Washington is one of many teams that need tackles, and what happens in the first round of the draft could dictate where Gaither is dealt in the second round. The teams that need tackles, and don't get them in Round 1, could wind up dealing a pick in Round 2 to Baltimore to get Gaither. Washington would be one of the options, but there are others. And it'll be a story to follow on Day 2 of the draft."

    Gaither is near elite status

"Gaither has been a starter for the past two seasons and in that time his metrics have been nothing short of superb. He has allowed only seven total sacks in 27 games and only one of these was a one-on-one sack (defined as when a defender beats a blocker in a one-on-one environment and tackles the quarterback in the pocket within three seconds of the snap). That illustrates Gaither's dominant pass blocking skills, but his run blocking numbers are also quite notable. Gaither was at the Point of Attack (POA) on 300 running plays the past two years and he won his block 255 times, or 85 percent of the time. That is a solid number on its own, but his 2009 POA win rate of 89.0 percent is even more noteworthy. To put that total into perspective, consider that in a typical NFL season, a little less than one out of ten offensive linemen will crack the 90 percent POA win mark. Gaither was on the precipice of that mark last year despite battling injuries."

  5. I could see Buddy and Chan trading #41 to the Ravens for Jared Gaither and drafting Clausen @ #9. Then use #72 for the NT that we desperately need in the new defensive scheme.

Possibly the best case scenario.....either way I think we need to make the deal for Gaither.

  6. Wondering if there are any fellow Bills fans in or around SD that are getting together for the draft or would like to. I know the start is probably going to make it difficult for a lot of west coasters. I have a feeling we're going to need consoling after the Bills take a WR or CB at #9 so I'd rather drink a few with people who feel my pain. If anyone is down for this or has somewhere they are going let me know and we can have our own Bills draft party.

In case you are new to San Diego, the Bills Backers club watches games and such at the 710 Club in Pacific Beach. Its a great time on Sundays and the people are great as you can imagine! I am assuming the Bills Backers Club will be watching the draft there...

  7. I know some feel you can plug in this or that RB and it's all smooth sailing. If they move Lynch, they better get a darn good price.

I honestly don't view Lynch as a problem player. CIN has a rep for having such - truth is, almost all of their problems were youngsters with big jingle in their pockets going out and boozing up.

Take me back to age 22, give me a couple of million in my pockets - I'd be your best jerk ever.

I agree...Big deal, he smoked a lil wacky tobaccy, had a gun in his trunk and Randy Moss'd a chick. Hey, on the bright side...atleast he has not been accused of multiple rape charges....

  8. Right...we really should go for the tenth best Offensive tackle who as a second team all Big ten selection in our position of most critical need. That should make sure we don't suck.

  9. What seller did you use on DHgate?

I posted this on another thread, but the jerseys from this site are great..a friend of mine just purchased a Nolan Ryan Mitchell and Ness and compared it to his authentic one and he couldn't tell the difference...

  10. is it really from China? I got a bunch of Sabres "authentic" jerseys off of ebay and they shipped from Korea...they're perfect! and something like 70% off

Yeah...been to South Korea many times and most likely thats where you will get most of the "authentic" jersey's...

  11. So you're judging them off 5 plays? I did watch the plays, over and over. I admit I'm not an O-line guru, so there are things that pass me by, but from what I can tell, Woods was the far better player overall. I'm not talking about how many blocks were missed, or who got pushed back on one play. I'm talking over the course of their time in the game, who did the better job of taking their guy out of position to make a play. Levitre may get to his block, but he is usually the one being controlled once contact is made. How well these two read the defense and know their assignments is a big question, but even if they are horrible, it's something that should be expected and will be fixed with practice and repetition.

And by the way, I think Hangartner did a very good job. I wasn't as focused on him, and may go back and watch again to do so, but when I did watch him he always picked up his guy and kept him out of the play. He wasn't dominating, but he did what he had to do.

I have to agree. Granted it was the first preseason game of the year, but what happened to being "NASTY". Thats why we drafted these guys, right? It would have been great to see them line up from the 2 and pound the ball right down their throat. maybe thats just what the Bills need.....AN IDENTITY. Nope we'll line up and throw quick outs to our 5 foot 2 inch WR??
