This dude is getting right by 300 pound dudes lol

I could never be a draft evaluator. The guy looks like a young Von Miller. I'd think he was a first-round pick. I mean, what else does he have to do? I realize this is a highlight reel, and evidently he's a liability against the run, but still, he looks like a first-rate pass rusher to my inexpert eyes.

Beane does cook in the 5th round!

Yeah, maybe he should trade down from all the earlier rounds and up from all the later rounds. Pick like 20 players in the fifth round. If he hits on just seven, he'll have the best draft in the league. Revolutionary!

Yes, it is possible.  Shakir and Samuel are fast as well.

Our WR room is better than many fans think.

I think so, too. It's lacking only name recognition. Shakir was better than Diggs last year, at least in the second half of the season; Samuels has produced despite never having a top-twenty quarterback; Coleman looks terrific; Hollins should be a solid, Kumerow-type 4th. Remember, they have a QB that produced big time with no more than Beasley, Brown, and loose change.

But let's not kid ourselves. Hamler, Shavers, Isabella, and Shorter are all long shots. Maybe lightning will strike. More likely, they'll go the way of Deonte Hardy, Tanner Gentry, Isaiah Hodgins, Marquez Stephenson, Tavon Austin, and Jamison Crowder.

"I have spoken" means i have nothing else to say and i am done with you.

    I have spoken.

We should have a thread on all the posting tics that drive us crazy. Me, I cringe at the use of "compliment" instead of "complement" (e.g., "Shakir compliments Coleman beautifully") and "zero chance," as in "There is zero chance this draft will help the Bills next year."

    I, too, have spoken. 😀

Move McGovern back to Left guard in a year

The more you look at the roster, the more you realize that next year is when it'll all come into focus. So much is in flux now, with a lot of new names coming in. The present roster could be special, but it's going to take time to gel. Kincaid, Shakir, Coleman, Samuels, Cook, Davis, a rock-solid line (finally), great linebackers, a good D-line, and a pretty good secondary. And of course a superstar quarterback. Looks like a great team.

Just two more major needs: a second safety and a viable deep threat at WR. Then it's Super Bowl time, baby.

Gabe Davis was a dang good 4th round pick.

I agree. The trouble is that he was just good enough to lose with. It's like having the second-best hand in poker. The fault lies not in him but in McBeane's faith that he could be a viable WR2. It took until the second half of last season, when both Allen and Brady gave up on him, for McBeane to accept their faith was misplaced. Their overvaluation of Davis is one of three key mistakes they have made in the Allen era, along with the Von Miller debacle and allowing an overmatched Spencer Brown to learn on the job.

He’s faster than DS and just all around better TBH. And to go along with a good physical skill set he also runs with excellent patience and vision.

He should be a really good fit with Cook. He’s also sneaky good out of the back field as well which I haven’t seen mentioned here.

He’s a RB so the 2nd contract is taken off the table. Knowing that why would anyone care he’s 24?

Yes, I mentioned elsewhere that my judgment was hasty. I'm persuaded now that he'll be a real asset to the team.

That is EXACTLY how I responded and I'll never regret it.

At THAT TIME, Josh was a wild one in a million project type guy and I definitely did NOT want him....or Lamar Jackson, out of ALL the big name QB draftees that year!

We hit on a lottery ticket with Josh so all is well that ends well.  Doesn't make the pick better AT THE TIME however.

Yeah, but by that logic you'll always take the safe bet, a path that ultimately leads to mediocrity. In other words, sometimes it IS the right move to take what appears to be a gamble at the time, as the Allen pick shows. That pick WAS the right move at the time.

  8. I think we're overestimating what Beane could do. With all the personnel departures, he's basically trying to keep the lights on. Give him credit: He filled most of the holes and depth positions. They "just" need a free safety and a WR1, or at least a deep threat WR. With the June 1 money, he might be able to pull off one of these. That's really all we can reasonably ask.

Plenty of 7th rounders are throwaways,  but nice to see an absolute physical specimen that is right now just raw materials.  Guy can move like a tight end at 6’7” 300+.  Kid ran a 4.79 which is incredible and clocked above 20mph as well.  Great type of guy to have on practice squad and develop and see what he can become.  Will need strength and a lot to learn but a good gamble to take this late.

I wonder if he would be better at tight end.

It's also interesting to note that of the fastest 40 times clocked, that none of them ever did anything other than Chris Johnson. Most were simply track stars that have had worse careers than Marquise Goodwin.

Including Marquez Stevenson, whom we drafted a few years ago. He ended up a bust. Speed isn't everything.

    He’s a beast

How so? He looks like just another guy in his highlights, more like a free agent or camp fodder than a fourth-round pick. Not fast, big, or elusive. Sort of a dulled-down Singletary. What are you (and the Bills) seeing that I'm not?

Gabe Davis also didn't fight for contested catches. He didn't fight for the football. That's part of the reason Allen's INT rate when targeting Davis was so much higher than everyone else on the team. It's almost like there's more to the WR position than "run fast".

So to sum up Gabe Davis' abilities, he isn't particularly fast or tall or elusive or clutch, he drops balls on a regular basis, and he doesn't fight for the football. Could it be that what little success he had was the result of playing with the best quarterback in the league?🤔

I was on board with Ladd. Felt sick watching the Chargers celebrate at #34. Watched more Coleman of his highlights.

I started to see it. He will be a super-charged Gabe Davis.

He will catch all the TDs and close-calls Gabe dropped.

He will catch all of Cooks dropped TDs in the red zone.

He will get Josh's desperation passes running out the sideline in triple coverage.

    And catch them.

I'm good. I encouraged my fellow Bills fans to back away from that ledge I was hanging over.

Like us, maybe Beane got sick of seeing Davis, Cook, and Diggs drop balls. Now Allen has what might be the best all-hands team in the NFL in Kincaid, Shakir, and Coleman. They might not be fast, but they all catch the ball.
