Considering that the last guy went through near zero vetting I don't worry about it this time around.
-
I have to say, there may be something to this...It's the only way to explain these head scratchers, IMO.
That last game against NE, how does Sammy not get more targets or at the least scheme some calls to get him to 1k receiving! That would have been something to build upon going into the off-season for the rookie. I hate to speculate but having Sammy reach this goal may have taken the spotlight off the 9 win season and saint Doug.
Also, Goodwin from 35 catches (2013) -----> 1 catch (2014)...makes NO sense at all.
Trouble with the redzone offense and nothing for a proven redzone talent (M. Williams)...smh!
Marrone was up to something, I'm convinced !!!
Yeah, up to his eyeballs in stupidity.
-
I don't know what you see in Marrone. On top of everything else, he's stubborn beyond reason. Losing him is equivalent to losing nothing.Whaley for sure. He has assembled alot of the pieces. This team was such a mess you cannot do it all over night. That being said relationships can be repaired and Marrone probably stays. Hacket needs to go he just isnt a NFL coach at any spot on the offensive side. We need a bonified OC, line coach, and QB coach to groom Manuel. While we are at it dont be surprised to see a decent QB like bradford come in. He may need a change of scenery as well.
-
And hopefully the new owners understand that the HC is also done, among others.Starting Orton at this point. means that coaching and personnel staff have seen enough of EJ already to know that he is done.
-
And, because we have a HC who doesn't know this, we need a new HC more.Get an OC who understands the current style of NFL offense. One who will have pass routes that go past the first down marker on 3rd down. A guy who will tell the coach, no, we will not punt. We can make this 4th and 1. A OC who tailors the plays and game plan to his players strengths. In short, everything Hackett is not.
-
What he really meant was "You suck with me".
-
I disagree with a couple: OC deserves a F- if possible; his talent-level
is Div II college at best.
HC gets a C- or D+ for apparently knowing nothing about offense.
-
Maybe he cares but we need a miracle worker. Marrone was a standard 50th rated college coach. If he believes his OC is adequate then he shouldn't be coaching.Doug deserves the chance of three years. Any thing less is un fair to his staff and the growth potential. Rome wasn't built in a day. He got the coaching for the "D" and now we have to allow him to get the "O" in gear. Don't be so harsh on the guy. He really cares.
-
Might help his play-calling as he could hardly do worse.lmfao. Give Hackett a punch for me as well
-
I agree but I also think Marrone's pride won't let him go back to EJ. It would be admitting that Orton was not enough of an upgrade.
I was all for Marrone when he got hired. College guy and it was different. He promised a lot of things and he seems like every retrend coach we've had. But he acts like he is Belichick when he is a guy who's best accomplishment is the Pinstripe Bowl.
Whaley >>> Marrone and it's not even close. This is a very attractive job with the talent we have. Get a real offensive mind who has a track record of developing QBs and getting the most out of his players. We can do so much better than Marrone.
Take the top 50 Div I coaches, put their names on a wall. and throw a dart blind-folded at it and you have a better coach than Marrone.

If the choice is open air vs. closed dome vs dome opening, I vote for closed. I don't think the opening is worth it unless it is quite small.
-
We can hope the new owners aren't satisfied with hiring bottom-of-barrel trash as head coaches.
-
Marrone and his partner were never worth a crap at Syracuse....the competition level at SU was about 10% the NFL. We got Peter Principled, again.I posted this in the fire hackett thread that was closed so I'll put it here:
Hackett should NEVER have been hired. How could they really expect a kid to come into the NFL and run a professional offense? Just a terrible decision. Hackett is not ready to coach in the NFL. Marrone wil pay the price for not going out and bringing in an offensive coordinator with more experience. This speaks to the arrogance of Marrone. He brought in quality defensive guys, so why bring some kid that is clearly in over his head? This is on Marrone, and he will lose his job because of it. And another thing..where was this cutting edge, innovative coach that I heard about when they hired Marrone? Are we sure we got the right Marrone? Is he an imposter? Maybe he's Dick Jauron in disguise?
-
Or in the next 1000 years if he could live so long.14 years. We have a meager chance of staying alive for the playoffs. The entire season hangs in the balance. We're down 2 scores, on the opponents 46 yard line. Late in the 4th quarter. 4th and 6.
Marrone does the math and concludes: "the percentages don't favor us here." And PUNTS. It's laughable. Sad. Tragic. But laughable.
This man is not solving Rubik's cubes on the plane rides home.
-
If Hackett trained for 10 years he still would be no good. Another case of a no-nothing son of a competent coach. It happens more times than not.
-
This is the best coaching staff we've had in over a decade. We don't have a QB, an Oline or starting RBs and we're in the playoff hunt.
What the !@#$ is wrong with you people?
What the #$@! is wrong with you? 'Best coaching staff in a decade' is still close to the worst in the league. Having a buddy as an OC is not a path to success.

This is it. Season.
Season ended last week.

In his interview on the John Murphy Show, Orton said an interesting thing, which I believe he was referring to the Jet game but I'm not sure. He said Hackett called for a few more deep passes downfield, but Orton said lately he himself has been doing a lot of checking at the LOS.
He was implying that the Bills had success throwing deep and Hackett kept on calling it, but the defense that Orton saw on the passes he threw downfield were the ones he thought he could exploit, so he threw it, and there were other plays where the same play was called, but the defense was set up to prevent it, so he checked down (presumably to runs).
Which means what? My solution is let Orton call the whole game and fire Hackett, since I believe he adds nothing to the game.
-
Lol...Why does everything come back to EJ? Come on dude, criticizing Hackett isn't some passive aggressive way to endorse a player on the bench. The people who talk the most about EJ are the people who bashed him before the season even began. Let it freaking go, he's on the bench.
Hackett sucks, period. Has nothing to do with EJ, Fitzcraptrick, Trentative, JP Loserman or any other QB not starting for the Bills right now. He sucks because he is terribly predictable, unimaginative, terrible at game planning to exploit weaknesses of the opponent, terrible are using his teams talents correctly, horrible at adjusting in game, and is stubborn and forces his offense no matter the situation or personnel. He's also a moron on 3rd down, something we are amongst the worst in the league at converting. 3rd and long, he calls short strike routes. 3rd and 5 or less he throws low percentage bombs. Stuff like that.
It's about Hackett not hacking it
If the only way of getting rid of Hackett is to fire Marrone, so be it.
-
People do remember opposing players calling Chan's offense a "high school offense" right?
Better than the grade school offense we ha.ve now
-
( I.my my opinion, Hackett is the worst OC for the Bills in my memory (I'm 67). And yes, I believe I could call a better game using spinorama of a child's game.
-
Should have been $1250....just kidding.
-
I wish. It would be the first time in 20 years that the Bills even tried to cover a tight end.
No can someone target Skip Bayless?
I have always thought that his real name is Skip brainless.
Bills radio (Mike Schopp is awful)

Your 2nd sentence is 100% correct. There's a bereft of talent in the market but too bad GR couldn't have someone other than a total wise-ass jerk as the main commentator.
