Coaches come and go...but is the real problem with our scouts and talent office? Let me list some recent examples...I mean we pick a 3rd round QB in the 1st round...trade away 2 1st round picks for a receiver who's hurt..how about letting a solid backup like L. Cohen go... Discus.
I've been off the board for months thanks to a job that consumes my life. But honestly, other than the names changing, the stories sound the same. It's been over a decade since we had a legit starting QB (Bledsoe); he gave us one decent year and the wheels came off.
My feelings for the team are like having a wife that drives you crazy. You don't want to divorce her because you love her, but at times all you can do is walk around shaking your head while muttering "Oy Vey"

You could probably argue that the Bills haven't done an outstanding job with the Guard and Tight End positions, but all in all the organization has done a decent job putting together a fairly talented team across the board, aside from the one position that means far more than any other position. The most important position of them all. And here we are, one week away from the start of the season, and we have a barely legitimate starting QB and no legitimate backup QB on the roster.
Even if we do pick up someone else's trash and have someone slightly more legitimate as our #2, he still has no exposure to our offensive system, and it will be weeks before he could be realistically thrown into a game with any expectation of effectiveness.
It was the same story last year, and it ended up biting us in the butt, to a certain extent. And here we are again.
It's hard to find a good QB in the NFL, sure. But this could only be called a pure bungling of the most important position on the field, despite a reasonably decent job with the remainder of the roster.
That just about sums it up for the Buffalo Bills.
Amen. For those of us who have watched this team for decades, seeing the same types of management failure year after year just gets old.
( to date myself, I can't believe it's been almost 30 years since we drafted Bruce Smith. THAT was a move that worked out for us!)

Hopefully Ornton can learn the playbook and be ready for action in a couple weeks. I have serious concenrs about the ability of our front office to evaluate talent. Here we are again, a week before the start of the season making major personnel moves.

Van is closer to 87. I can't believe it's been over 10 years since he retired. Loved his play by play.
"Fasten your seatbelts" ! ! !

Dareus is fortunate that no one was in his path when he hit the tree in front of the Mongolian Buffet. If he'd run into a crowd of people it could have been an absolute disaster. Dude needs to grow up.

Thanks for bringing pro football to western NY. Thanks for what you did for St. John Fisher college. Thanks for the memories!
Rest in peace Mr Wilson

i am not in favor of expanding either.
Ditto - it's hard enough keeping players healthy for 16 games. If a team makes the playoffs as a WC, and gets to the superbowl, that's 20 football games. That's enough..

Ronnie Lott was a key ingredient to those SF defenses, and he played safety most of his career.
Too bad we couldn't come up with enough Byrd food in 2013 to lock down Jairus for 5 years.
-
wouldn't that be sweet ?
would require bills making playoffs.
it's not that far fetched.....he's off to a pretty good start filling the defense.
on to the offense next..
and then light a few candles that EJ plays all 19 baby......lol
Starting the weekend early Pap? Maybe a few too many brewskis??

So, just how long has it been since the Bills were in the Playoffs? On January 8, 2000, the last time the Bills were in the Playoffs:
1. The average price for a gallon of glass was $1.26.
2. Bill Clinton was President of the United States.
3. "Seinfled" had been off the air for over a year.
4. "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence was 9 years old.
5. I had a full head of hair.
6. The top grossing movie was "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and it would have cost you $5.00 to see it.
7. AOL had 23 million subscribers, it now has 2.5 million.
8. 64 MB of RAM cost $100 (8 Gig's now cost $50-70, 128 times cheaper than in 2000).
9. Blockbuster turned down an opportunity to buy a new company called "Netflix" for $50 million.
10. Napster was still a thing.
11. Cell phones all had black and white screens that were 2"x 2".
12. As a harbinger of many TV horrors to come, "Survivor" debuted to massive ratings.
13. The evil that was Pokemon raged across the American landscape consuming all in it's path.
14. We were still referring to online fun as being on "the Web".
15. We were all looking forward to a long and successful career for Rob Johnson as our franchise QB.
Feel free to add.
For what it's worth, Rob Johnson will be 41 next month and he's been out of the league 11 years. Johnson last played a game for the Bills in November 2001. Egads that's a long time ago..

So happy for Andre; this is way overdue. If he was playing with today's rules he could have added another 100 200 catches to his stats..

Grocery shopping with my daughter and grandson. Wegmans and Walmart were mad-houses. Lots of pre-bowl shoppers out there

3rd rounder or later ? Still need to fill in some talent at other spots. I'm on board w 4th rd or lower qb.
Or waste the 1st rounder on the 4th best qb like some crazies (IMO) want ?
I'd only go with a value pick.

My thoughts - draft another QB. There is a shortage of QB talent in the NFL and it can't hurt to have another solid prospect on the roster. Go for it

Shades of the Bills - Oilers comback game..

I have to say, I haven't been very active on the Stadium Wall this season. Frankly, after a decade-plus of mediocre to downright horrible football, my passion has faded. It wouldn't take much to reignite the spark. Remember the 4-0 start in 2008 and the 3-0 start in 2011? Even an occasional 3 game winning streak during the heart of the season would be worth some enthusiasm. But it's been years since we've had an elite QB or a team well-rounded enough to get to the playoffs or even finish strong. So forgive me if I haven't felt like discussing our QB woes or Stevie's behaviour for the umpteenth time..
Go Bills..

Keep Byrd. Why do certain folks on this board want to get rid of a proven commodity to get an extra roll of the draft dice? He's one of the best DB's in the league. Give him a 5 year contract.

I've never liked theToronto series. It's one less opportunity to see the Bills at home. Going to see them in Toronto isn't even practical for many season ticket holders. Rochester folks have to drive 3 or more hours just to get there, and of course you have to clear customs too. It's an all-around p.i.t.a.

it is a good thing most WNY women are ugly, and we get bad cell phone reception!
Most WNY women are ugly? You hang out at which Walmart??

Also, the Sunday weather forecast is for High 2, Low -19 in Green Bay.
BRRRRRR ! ! !

Jay Cutler has signed a 7-year deal with the Bears.
Yay! That's one less rumour to live with.

It was just barely into 2001, and a dear friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) worked security at the stadium. This is all happening right after John Butler gets fired, and the Bills are in quite the situation with the GM and subsequent change at coach looming large. Myself and a pair of my friends trek up the the Ralph in pretty wintery conditions (almost slid off the side of the road a few times).
In any case, our security friend took us on a 2am tour of the stadium. Starting in the field house, we threw fade routes to each other in the corners of the end zone, caught balls and tried to get 2 feet in bounds, kicked field goals and goofed around. From there, we took a tour of the coaches office, GM's office (which was empty at the time, before the hiring of Donahoe), and eventually made our way the the 50 yard line of the stadium. There, we smoked a joint and left the roach right at midfield. We joked around how rebellious we were about getting away with it.
Seemingly, since that incident, the Bills have not made it to the playoffs. I feel like the fun we had that night is the reason for the curse! Not Flutie, not Bruce or Thurman or Andre or Butler......but the roach we left.......
I apologize to Bills nation on behalf of us guys, who at the time in their early 20's were just trying to have a good time. I feel like our fun that night has cost us years of futility!
The last time the Bills won a playoff game was 1995; coincidentally the same year OJ was found "not guilty" in his murder trial.
It's OJ's fault.
The only reason the Bills won the '95 playoff game was because there was some left-over good karma from Frank Reich (he forgot to bring it with him when he left for Carolina)
True story..

My son was in kindergarden. Now he's a college student and a dispassionate Bills fan. Can you blame him? They have sucked as long as he can remember..
At least my older daughters can still remember watching JK play and Buffalo being a relevant team.

All those Qbs will be better than Manuel. He is the worst qb ever. He did nothing good this year. Facts.
I'd like to see how he does with the benefit of a full off-season and better o-line play.
That being said, if there is a chance to draft another solid QB this year, I'm all for it. The Bills QB depth needs an upgrade..
Do you approve hiring Rex Ryan as HC

Been awhile since I've added my 2 cents. The Bills landed one of the best active candidates available, and his players love him. He's a solid coach, now the front office needs to do some kind of voodoo to get a competent starting QB into Buffalo.
Go Bills!
