  1. Not so much annoyed as I am surprised. We have been eating out of the NFL soup kitchen for so long that when someone finally gives us a steak, we question the cut of the meat? Crazy!
  2. Im just kind of amazed at the reactions to the draft selections, and personnel moves that netted us draft picks and players, and how we used those picks. Lets look at what happened with Players last season. We shipped out Sammy Watkins, and got a draft pick and a good corner in return. We all know that when Sammy wasn't injuered, and actually played in a game that he was a borderline great receiver, and probably the best we had on our roster. But he was hurt a lot, and he was a malcontent and a prima donna. We all remember about how he complained that NFL players weren't compensated like NBA players, etc. Do you want that kind of influence in the locker room with the production he was giving us? He just wasn't the new regime's kind of guy. With Ron Darby, that was a bit of a head scratcher, but I think the new regime felt he didn't fit the new defensive scheme. He was injured for most of last season, and he did get burned in the super bowl. We got a wide receiver and a draft pick for him as well. With Gaines, and White starting last year, no one missed Darby or Gilmore. We didn't over pay to keep Gilmore and he struggled a lot with the Pats at first, as well. When you look at Darius, and Cordy Glenn, we unloaded Darius' salary after he was in trouble with the law, had substance abuse issues, and was late for team functions. He had gotten the big contract and he didn't care anymore. He became a detractor and was thumbing his nose at the front office and coach. His salary was ridiculous and a mistake! Glenn was hurt all last season and yet we were able to unload his salary, and trade up to the number 12 spot in the recent draft by letting him go. I loved Glenn, but who knew how long this injury thing would affect his play? I also loved Tyrod, and wish he was still on the team in some capacity, but not as the starter. True the guy never threw picks, and was a leader in the locker-room, but if we were down by 10 points we were losing because he wasn't a comeback QB. We needed a franchise QB that could get it done and short of guys like Bledsoe and Flutie, we haven't had one in over 20 years! So going into the draft there was Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, and Allen, all slated as franchise type players and EVERY Bills fan was hoping we could just have a shot to land any one of the 4. The problem is that we broke the playoff curse and we weren't picking high enough to get one of these guys. Yes the front office traded a lot to get Allen, but big change takes bold action. Is he the right guy, was Rosen the right guy, or was Mason Rudolph or Jackson the right guy? Its all a crap shoot. Finally, after cheering for this team and being embarrassed over the last 20 years, we seem to have a solid coach and a smart GM with a plan. We will certainly have to wait and see if the players we picked pan out, but everything they've done is something all of us have clamored for. We were amazed they could unload the baggage and the salaries. We were amazed that stars were let go because they were malcontents. We were wowed by the fact that we were actually stockpiling good draft picks. Then the draft came and now we whine that we didn't get the right guys? How the hell would we know that? We've never seen them play at the NFL level! I love what this coach, owner, and GM are all doing. Its a hell of lot less embarrassing than what we've endured in the recent past, and yet we still complain like we know how this will all turn out. These guys take real action. They seem to have a plan. I like that! Could it be because we've been beaten down for so long that we have no idea what to do with success? Could it be that we are that skeptical now even when things do go right? I know we probably wont make the playoffs this year. But sometimes you have to tear things down and start over to finally build it right! I can't wait for the regular season! Go Bills!
  3. The Bills will never be good enough to win it all! Thank you very much lord! Amen!
  4. Sorry about the typos. Thumb typing on the I-phone doesn't cut it. I'm disappointed as well
  5. That may be because I wasn't talking about those seasons. Let's try some crtical thinking instead of just being critical.
  6. Let me start by saying that I'm not at all happy about the fact that like every other year at this point we are once again not going to make the playoffs. That being said, how did this happen? Is it because Marone is all of sudden worse than he was in the 5 wins, or does Ortons all of a sudden suck, or is Hackett not the same guy who called the games we did win? Maybe the answer is none of the above! For the record I really like Ortons and Marone. I don't think Whaley has done a bad job either. What I believe and it would seem very obvious if you look at it is Spiller and Jackson actually make that big a difference to the team. We haven't had a starting caliber running back in the last 2 games. We lost those. I like Craig Urbim a d think he's our best option at gaurd but inserting him back in the line on the left has to cause a temporary disruption while the chemistry of the line reforms. Yeah but we beat the Jets without our running backs! The Jets with Geno Smith in the line up are really that bad and had given up on their season. We all know the Nets are a better team than they played that day. I think these things as well as the Watkins injury are why we truly lost to KC and Miami. It's not because our pretty good quarterback all of a sudden sucks. Imagine what our season would have been like if Orton wasn't on our roster. This same thing happened Sanchez when he was a Jet . He goes to 2 AFC championships and then the change his O-line, take away his running backs and the Jets start playing badly. That's the quarterbacks fault? The Jets ruined that kid. Let's not do the same to Kyle Orton. The alternatives are far worse. If Jackson can contribute this week I know we will see a better offensive performance and maybe even a win against a team that is better with Michael Vick at QB.
  7. Forgive me if this has already been posted. I look at TBD every day and hadn't noticed the topic. I have two theories about why the Bills played so poorly in the Jet game, and where the 49ers are looking at Merriman this week I am prompted to post my thoughts. When the Jets looked at Derek Hagan, I think we all knew that they were never going to sign him, but whether they did or not they were trying to pick his brain on what he Bills blueprints were. Hagan spent a tremendous amount of time with the Bills before being cut and not only had information he could readily supply the Jets, but would have been able to verbally tell them just about anything they wanted to know. An upset Hagan tells the Jets what our schemes are just to stick it to us? Sounds plausible, but here's the thing, we werent using the exact same schemes we ran last year and some of our personnel has changed, and yet the Jets secondary has a better bead on each ball thrown than our own receivers do? This sounds an awful lot like what happened when we signed Lawyer Milloy after the Pats released him and then we beat the Pats 35-3 that next week. The other issue I see is with Fitz. Heres a guy who was a mediocre Ivy League 7th round QB who was never taught the mechanics of his position. Whatever he did in his reads, progressions, hand offs and throws was what came to him naturally. Was he perfect? We all know the answer to that, but now we bring in coach Lee to toy with Fitz's mechanics and expect that that will make him better? It may at some point, but what I think is happening is that now instead of Fitz naturally going through his motions on a play, he now has to think about who to throw to AND how to throw it. That second step of thinking about his mechanics is throwing of his timing and hurting his confidence in the process. The Chiefs game went better for Buffalo because Fitz didn't throw as much, but he looked just as sloppy when he did throw as he did during the Jet game. The Bills may want to rethink whether to toy with his mechanics. I truley believe its doing more harm than good. Sorry I didnt post this sooner.
  8. Enjoy the rest of the season everyone and I hope you all have a great holiday!
  9. Thanks for the insight on the Bills staying in Buffalo. We dont get that kind of insider information here in Patriot country. If they were to leave western New York, I cant say with any certanty I would follow the team.
  10. So I’m sitting and watching the game with my brother-in-law who is an avid Cowboys fan and watching him enjoy the 3 touchdown lead, when I see David Nelson run over and make a circus act out of the fact that he scored a touchdown by giving his girlfriend the ball. In retrospect he must feel like a fool today when his team got hammered in front of her. For about the 200th time in my life I of course got to feel like a total idiot for being a long standing Bills fan. Then it came to me. I realized that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and then expecting a different result. It’s not wrong to love a team or to get stoked about the games they play, and believe me when I tell you I have. What is wrong is supporting the same old pile of crap that the Wilson owned organization has fed us over the years and expecting something different will happen. When you look at the organization we played yesterday it’s just foolish to think we could ever beat a team like that. Why? Because real effort has gone into building that team. The owner will spend freely to keep his talent on his field. They don’t make big mistakes in the draft and the people they bring in are good players, coaches, and managers. They can tear down an undrafted free agent running back’s house and no one cares. Why? Because winners win, and no one wants anything to do with anyone who isn’t a winner. In short, they do a lot of intelligent things to build and maintain their franchise and their fans have a lot to be proud of because of it. No one dislikes Jerry Jones more than I do. In his world it’s all about him and no one else. Look at the recent collective bargaining talks that went on earlier this year. You saw his face everywhere. His influence was in every meeting and behind every closed door. Bob Kraft was right there with him. Kraft’s franchise is built the same way and guess what? They win too. They didn’t win anything until he bought the team and he’s changed Foxboro forever. Where was Wilson in the collective talks? The only time I heard his name is when he’s the only one to object to whatever it is that’s decided. Let’s look at the contrast. I’m from western New York and I moved away during the Carter administration because there weren’t any good jobs and the economy was abysmal. That condition hasn’t changed much in 30 years, yet dedicated Bills fans who live in western New York spend money they don’t have to support a franchise that constantly threatens to be taken away and moved somewhere where the funds exist to support the team. Our funds have supported the team handsomely but that’s neither here nor there. Wilson and Wilson alone is the beneficiary of the money we’ve all spent. That money hasn’t gone into talented high quality players, good management, high visibility coaches, or real efforts to get involved in NFL matters that endear our team to the league. Gailey has done a good job with the offense, but he has the Super bowl Cowboy’s defensive coordinator on his staff and he’s a line backers coach while Edwards continues to set his guys up for a 400 yard per game failure? Can anyone truly justify this to me? It’s really not all Edwards fault. Every time we have a quality player on either side of the ball Wilson refuses to pay the guy what he’s worth and they all leave the team. Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, and Nate Clements to name a few. I won’t include Poz here because he was another high draft pick that couldn’t cover his own grandmother. I mean who do we have on defense? You’ve got Dareus, Barnett and McGee. Who else stands out? Maybe Wilson? Our secondary is woeful. Leodis McKelvin? He's another draft wiff just like Whitener was. Who are the backups? Nobody. That’s who. Back to the offense which is comprised of 7th rounder’s and UFA’s except for Wood and Levitre. Gailey had a scheme, and it worked for a while until real defensive coordinators picked the lock on it. Now what? There is no answer and again, there are no backups. What team in the league doesn’t have a backup for every O-line position? Us. What team is too cheap to pay for a blue chip LT like Jason Peters? Us. We needed the best Left tackle in the draft and who do we pick? Spiller. We need the best pass rusher in the draft and who do we pick? Orakpo? Nope. Maybin. I mean really, could it be done more incorrectly? I like Fitz and Jackson and Johnson, but if you lock down Jackson and Johnson, then what? Then we’re done. Let’s face it, until we get an owner like Woody Johnson, Kraft or Jones it will be the same every year, but when we do get that owner the team will be gone. Im 48 years old, and for as long as I have been a fan I’ve had to come to the conclusion annually that the year we are in is not our year. Then the words inevitably come. “Next year.” Things will be better next year. How many next years do we all have? I feel like Charlie Brown kicking the football. Every year Lucy talks him into doing it and every year, he gets burned and embarrassed.
  11. I apologize if this question has already been asked but when Merrimen can't play, why not start Moats? The guy is a proven pass rusher and played well for us last year. I would think by now that the coaches would realize our 7th rounders are our best players. ;-)
  12. Yeah youre right. I was kind of a jerk there. I just felt like the guy was giving me the drive by rather than actually reading what I had to say and giving constructive feedback. My bad though. Youre right.
  13. Buddy Nix? Is that you? I thought it was doctor humpindunk. Youre right. We didnt need any tackles. Ill go back to sleep now.
  14. Yes, but of course you have no specifics. Peters was a jerk. Ill take a jerk over Bell and Green any day.
  15. I've thought about this all day and the more I think about it the more upset I get with the front office management at 1 Bills Drive. You're upset with them? Oh no, they just have a team of bad players, you say? Nonsense! These guys can't draft and when they have any players of note that want to be paid, you can just forget them. Lets think about this. Before we started the season we knew we needed two offensive tackles. Brad Butler had retired and Bell not only suffered a knee injury and was not thought to be a starting caliber tackle in this league. We could have found a tackle in free agency and at least one if not both new tackles in the draft. So who do we pick number 1? Spiller! Now don't get me wrong I like Spiller but with Jackson and Lynch on the roster he was a luxury pick. Yeah but we can build for the future with Spiller, you say? I say you don't put the dry wall up until you've nailed on the sheeting. This team needs a foundation and that starts in the trenches. We got rid of Jason Peters because the guy wasn't a first round pick out of Offensive Tackle University. He was an un-drafted free agent tight end converted tackle who just happened to be a hell of a lot better than that first round bust Mike Williams. Could we then pay Peters to stay? Nope. We didn't pay Pat Williams to stay for the same reason and we still don't have a D-Tackle that's a pimple on Pats but. I'm going to say it because we have all already forgotten last years game 1 against the Patriots. Did Trent Edwards look good in that game? Yes he did, because he actually had time to throw the ball. He cant think on his feet the way Fitzpatrick can and he's not an improvisor, but if you give him the time he can throw the ball and make plays. So who was the scapegoat for the fact that the front office was too stupid to get any decent tackles in? Not the brain trust. It was Edwards. I'm not saying Edwards was Joe Montana, but he never had a chance to be any good because the Bills didn't give him an O-line to ever find that out. My guess is that Edwards will get a second chance and when he does he may make us look even dumber than we are. Now to the Defense. Hey everyone lets switch to a 34 defense even though we don't have any of the front seven personnel on the roster to do it. Lets make Marcus Stroud a defensive end. Undersized Kyle Williams (The best D-lineman we have) can play on the nose. We'll get some guy who has a cadaver vertebrae in his neck (Dwan Edwards)to play on the other side, and then the guy we dratted as a defensive end (Alex Carrington) wont even dress. Instead will play another first round bust (John McCargo )who also is a converted tackle in that position! Genius! Linebackers? Dont even get me started. Maybin (another first round joke), and Chris Kelsay! LMAO! Maybe we can start the undersized and one of the best we have at the position in Ellison, or the other first round pick that's constantly broken in Pozlusny! No worries. The new D coordinator (Edwards) has this under control. Just don't tell the Jets that or they'll have 1000 yards rushing against us in 4 games. So what's with the secondary? Well besides yet another 1st round pick in Whitner, who Fewell was smart enough to replace with George Wilson, is back on the field, and now the DB's have to cover for so long because the front seven cant generate any pressure that the opposing receivers have time to adjust on the ball, and we cant get any picks. This team, the team I love and refuse to watch again until they can win a game, is a model of mismanagement. My 10 year old daughter could have picked better players at random, and put them in a better position to win! This front office is in total confusion mode! This years draft class: Spiller. Decent pick but not what we needed. Troup. Anyone seen him? Carrington. "" "" Easley. Injured Wang. Injured Moats. Injured Batten. Injured Brown. Cut, none else wanted him, re-signed Calloway. Released Number one picks over the past several years: Aaron Maybin Eric Wood Leodis McKelvin Marshawn Lynch Donte Whitner John McCargo Lee Evans J.P. Losman Willis McGahee Mike Williams Nate Clements Erik Flowers 4 out of 11 hits aint bad!

  17. Scott, I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you do for the fans every day on Two Bills Drive. I haven't posted in a long time, but I personally visit the site roughly once a day, and its been a great resource for me. The site is consistent, and very professional. It gives me the feeling that I have all the latest info on the team. I realize that you have sponsorships, and more than likely there are some personal perks involved in hosting such a page, but there's no way that they could equal the time effort and expense you've lent to this endeavor. We fans owe you a great deal of gratitude for all your hard work. Thanks again!
  18. Now dont get me wrong. Im originally from Dunkirk, so I know how slow the news in western New York can be, but can we read anything other than more T.O. news. What else is happening at 1 Bills drive. Oh and does anyone really care who bought Kelly's house?

  20. I do think we should have kept one of the more experienced O lineman, but my real beef is keeping Coy Wire, and not keeping a second fullback. If Shelton goes down then what's the plan? Why do we keep guys like Wire and Josh Reed? These guys never perform. Last but not least why keep Shuad Williams over Gates? Gates was always a better back. You want A Train to be number two that's fine but Williams is awful. I hope this works.
