  1. Another way of adding context to the passing yards allowed stat, is to list the QB ratings. With the exception of Brady, I think we'll find that our D has held some very good QBs to some very poor performance ratings.

EDIT: and sure enough, I see the post immediately above mine makes that point while I was typing my own. Great minds.

    GO BILLS!!!

You can also look at the number of pass attempts and yards/attempt. Teams have passed more against the bills than any other team. And they are tied with the 4th lowest yards/attempt at 6.4. So if teams pass more against you, you are likely going to give up more yards. And the bills are 4th best in opponent pass completion % at 57.3. So not so bad.

  2. just so you know NFL Sunday Ticket

    is blackout inside the stadium

and in the parking lot it won't work.

or so I've been told.so if your going to stream it on iPhone or iPad

your going to be disappointed if you have NFL

    Sunday ticket max

You can try using a VPN service to connect to the Internet. Then directv thinks you are at the location of the vapn provider which will be outside the stadium. I've used it in the past using my work vpn.

  3. Don't anyone dare say he has Olympic speed. He participated in field events.

He has a 10.38 best in the 100m in 2008. A 10.38 time could have moved him out of the initial heats depending on which one he was in, so I would say that qualifies as Olympic speed. He wouldn't have made the US team, but would have been the best on many of the other teams.

  4. This might add more excitement as it creates a situation where the possibility of tackling the return guy before he gets to the 20 increases. Let's say the kicker is good neigh to kick it high and the ball lands at the goal line. The ball would travel 60 yards. And take about 3 seconds as an estimate. So in this 3 seconds, the kickoff team should be able to get about 25 yards down filed to the opponents 35. So when the returner receives the ball he is 20 yards from the 20 and the kickoff team is about 15 yards.

I realize there are lots of other variables in play like blocking schemes, but a good coordinator can figure this out.

  5. 49-79 is the Bills record in 8 years Kyle Williams has been here. That is 6 wins a year. He is not a valuable player at all. The Bills average being 28th against the rush during that time.

The Bills are 40-60 (40%) when he plays and 9-19 (32.1%) when he doesn't play. So if we are going to assign the whole teams W/L to him, then they are a better team when he is in the game.

  6. If the issue is that the extra point is virtually automatic then make it more difficult. Move the kick to the hashmarks, move it back or narrow the goal posts. Hell do all three, ramp of the degree of difficulty! There's a lot of ways to make it more difficult.

If it has become too automatic, it means at some point it wasn't too automatic. So Roger must address what has changed. The hashmark, distance and width haven't changed recently although they did move the posts to the back of the end zone many years ago.

The kicking teams have become better, so that must be addressed. Have the kickers kick with their non-dominant leg. That would make it more difficult.

  7. If it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, try running through the ESPN Playoff Machine system for the scenarios (http://espn.go.com/n...layoffs/machine).

I selected the default for teams with better records beating their opponents throughout. That leaves a few games for teams with the same records. Notably, if you have Baltimore beat Pittsburgh and the Dolphins sweeping the Jets, the Bills get the final playoff spot at 8-8. Odd but true.

Even Better if you select Defensive Rank as the criteria on who wins, then we win the division as the #3 seed!

  8. I am a fan of Bills fans and the jerseys, but not a fan of the bumbling ownership/management group.

Polian, Kelly, Thurman, Bruce and Andre laid the foundation for this franchise to become a mini-Green Bay and instead they are running it into the ground.

We are just like Gren Bay. After their first 2 SB wins and prior NFL Championships wins, they only had 2 playoff appearances over the next 25 years. With many of them being really poor years. We just have to wait until our upturn comes in another 12 years.

  9. Anyone else notice that Freddie put the ball on the ground 2 or 3 times against the ravens?granted he did not lose any of the fumbles but this problem goes back to last year when he fumbled against the patriots on the one yard line going into half time. Don't get me wrong I love Fred, but he has had an increased tendency to fumbling the ball.

I also noticed it, so I decided to check some stats. While its early in the year, fre and CJ are leading the leagure with the most fumbles by RBs with 3 each. Luckily thy haven't lost them, but while early, it does seem to be something to be concerned with. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/byposition?pos=RB&conference=NFL&year=season_2013&sort=47&timeframe=ToDate

  10. Unless he passes by New Year's Eve, why would this make a difference?

I think if he gifts the team to his children, than he would only pay the 35% tax rate if its done this year. The children would then have the asset at the current value and would only have to pay capital gains on the difference of value when they sell. So on a team worth ~800 Million, the savings would be ~160 Million dollars.

So he could gift the team to his kids with the understanding that they should sell it when he passes. He can then be hired in a role which has ultimate control of the team assuming his children go by his wishes. Or they can appoint someone else to be in charge, but he still is the master who ultimately tells what the team should do. His kids can always fire people if they do not do what Ralph wants.

I'm just speculating here, but it seems feasible to save a ton of money.

  11. That's a fair argument. However, couldn't such buddy-buddying be curbed simply by not allowing the replay official(s) to go nameless? I would think there would be more pressure on an official's reputation with not just the league offices, but also in the world of public opinion, than there would be to please his coworkers. Especially in a world these days where an official's name becomes known with simply one or two highly visible tweets.

Why do you even need to go up to the booth. Just have some refs at NFL HQ that do all the reviews. They don't even have to be assigned to a particular game. They can get the replay info initially without the down/distance/time/score so they canmake a call just based on the play. Then they can fix down/distance/time/score after they determine the right call.
