  1. Are you basing this opinion on one game? Did you watch Fairley all year long?

Go back and watch the game again. Splitting a double team because you are that much quicker than the O lineman doesn't mean you were left unblocked. I think PTR must have been watching the screen game and watching something else the rest of the time. Go back and watch the game again and you will see that the comment about him being left unblocked and not shedding blockers is simply unfounded and misguided.

Totally Disagree he was left unblocked or blocked with a small interior lineman the whole game. Whenhe left the field his backup Blanc was making big plays(the safety). Not trying to take anything away from the kid as he had a big game, but I wouldn't pick him with my number one pick based on that performance simply because Oregon just played them bad. I did love how Carter played and how Matthews played on the other side.

  2. Lynch would only get a 4th rounder in return. Unfortunately, I think they will keep him. There are too many other holes to fill. The RB position is much easier to fill than the lines. Even OJ Simpson struggled mightily until they shored up the line.

Hopefully, the Bills will go for beef. On defense, DT Dan Williams is possible as well as Morgan from GT. The only OT's worth taking at 9 will be gone (Williams and Okung) The latest buzz is that Bulaga is way overrated.

Outside shots are Spiller and McClain. I would take the best player regardless of position since the Bills have so many needs, but I would strongly urge linemen first.

I think the Bills are praying that a guy like QB McCoy is still there in Rd 2 (they might even trade up)

The biggest error would be Tebow, but that remains to be seen. Correction: the biggest error would be Roethlisberger.

OJ struggled because they tried to make him a WR, when they finally moved him back to RB in year three he was amazing.

  3. up to $30 to the Bills store or any other store as long as Bills attire is purchased. I will pay for it and have it shipped to you!

    Rules:

    1. Pick the team that DRAFTS the player (if team A drafts player A and trades him to team B, team A is the correct answer)

    2. Open to all posters who registered BEFORE March 1st, 2010 (PM me if you didn't, I may grant an exception based on your posts or the number of beers I've had when you ask (creativity will help your odds!)

    3. You must get ALL correct

    4. 1 guess per person, I will freeze it the day before the draft - edit as long as you want

    5. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the longest-tenured TBD poster. Longevity will be rewarded here. (Per GOBILLS78 suggestion - I like it)

    Here are the 5 players

    1: Jim Clausen

    2: Tim Tebow

    3: Eric Berry

    4: CJ Spiller

  4. Are you saying that people like a QB when they win? Wow that is ground breaking. Way to add an interesting, original point to the conversation.

Why do you think Clausen will win in Buffalo?

Whatever jack, I was simply pointing out that one unnamed person did not like Clausens leadership. Kelly who was the Bills greatest QB ever was not always liked by everyone. It means nothing, everyone has someone that rubs them the wrong way, it means nothing. If the guy is drafted he may become great or may become a dud, who knows. NIx gets my support this year to make the decision on what he thinks is best, if he blows it then I will second guess him in the future because of his track record. I am a Notre Dame fan, and I feel that Clausen will be good based on what I saw but I am not a scout or GM so I will not wager on it one way or the other. However I am not going to be upset with the pick or happy with the pick when it is made. I will wait to see how it all pans out. The only way I will be pissed is i we draft someone in the secondary with the first two picks. However not wanting to pick someone based on the comments of a teamate who chose to remain nameless is stupid.

  5. The difference between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf was not physical skills, it was what they have between their ears. Clausen has never impressed me with his leadership. He may have the physical tools, but he doesn't convey confidence or leadership. My opinion, right or wrong, is he's a Phillips Rivers-type. Rivers puts up numbers at times, but in big games comes up small. A lot of people called Jim Kelly arrogant and cocky, (and he was), but he always backed it up with his toughness and leadership on the field. Marino and Elway were the same way. I don't get that feeling with Clausen, and apparently at least one of his ND teammates agree (see article below).

    http://www.nesn.com/2010/03/former-notre-d...neffective.html

Kelly called Ballard out in the media post game. There was alot of times Kellys teamates hated him, until they won. If they draft Clausen and he performs the rest of the team will love him.

  6. Too many guys from the Big Tenleven in the front of that draft for us. I would like that Angerer pick though.

I couldnt agree more, big ten players bust in the NFL, Especially the big three Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan players. Sure some end up being good but I would bet on a higher percentage fail. They seem to be slow and system players.

  7. I never understand when people get all upset when an athlete says something they disagree with. I dont care about John Rocker or Dusty Baker, Charles Barkley or Tim Tebow. Of all the people I know I can't think of one I agree with on every topic. I choose who's opinions matter to me and who's doesn't.

  8. Everytime Ralph and Buddy walk up to a coordinator, the prespective head coach eyes get real big and he immediatly puts his head down and goes to the door. However Ralph and Buddy have become used to this response so they have Russ Brandon waiting at the front door, and Tom Modrak waiting at the back door. As the coach walks out the door they are drugged and hogtied and made to interview. The attempt on Charlie Wiess was not successfu,l as they accidentally grabbed Loui Anderson, who is said to also have denied the Head Coachisng job

  9. I don't think that's correct. As long as they have permission from the Steelers, other teams can talk to the assistants for a promotion.

The Steelers are giving the Bills permission to talk to Russ Grimm-if we where in Germany we would have to get permission from the Broncos, but since we are here in the states.

  10. All the time. Though he also decided early on that it was fun to crack jokes about what an awful place Buffalo was. It was hard to tell whether he meant it or whether he was just doing it as a kind of joke. Either way, he sounded like a lishping douchenozzle.

And I mean that in the nicest way.... :w00t:

Remember way back the TV show Coach. Well they used to do a little bit every week before kickoff of Monday night Football. One week Coach Hayden Fox asked Luther who was going to win between the Bills and whoever there oponent was. Luther responded "does it really matter, the Bills still have to go back to Buffalo." Of course the network was hammered by letters and calls from mad Buffalonians. The next week they come out for the little sketch and say they are sorry to the city of Buffalo. Then Coach asks Luther who was going to win between the Browns and whoever there opponent was, Luther responded "Does it matter the Browns still have to go back to Cleveland." Coach threw his script in the air and walked off stage. I always thought that was kind of funny even though it was a little rip on Buffalo.

  11. How can you guys forget the #1 Bills hater of all time?

    Joe Namath

    ????

If you were watching games from 1985-1992 or so you know what I am talking about. Every single Bills game he worked it was always:

"Well the Bills wouldn't be ahead 21-0 in the first quarter if it wasn't for Thurman Thomas(or Kelly, Reed, Bennet, Smith, etc.)"

    -or-

"The Jets would be winning right now if they had a good offense, because they have held the Bills offense to 17 points in the first half" Yes Joe, and if my aunt had balls she'd be a juggler.

The funny part about Namath was not only his blatant bias against the Bills, it was that we was so bad at covering it up he made himself sound retarded every game.

He justs wants to kiss you

  12. If Manning played in the other eras, he would be as good as he is now: Good but not the best. I base my opinions on watching game films and talking to the players who played with/against the quarterback.

Tittle would be top ten. Right now, I am undecided on who is number 5 on my list.

Oh that's how good he'd be? Thanks. So the players today who are faster than ever, lift insane amounts of weights, drink protein shakes, andro, creatine, steroids, etc., etc., do absolutely ridiculous conditioning programs from the day their seasons end, study game film like it's a graduate level course wouldn't maybe have an edge on the black and white players who boozed and smoked cigars the nights before games? If you're going relative to eras that's one thing, but don't tell me guys like Michael Vick, Shawn Merriman, Barry Sanders- absolute freaks wouldn't dominate 50 years ago, you're simply sensationalizing the days of yore.

How good would todays players be if the needed to work other jobs because they got paid squat, have real everyday problems, no conditioning coach, Dick Butkus litteraly trying to kill them, rules that do not protect how they are tackled or hit, bit or kicked. Yes it is true if everything today was put up against anything from forty years ago today would win. A new mustang would go faster then an old T-bird but which would you rather have.

  13. For me I love watching Terry and Howie go at it. I also like Shannon Sharpe. I think those three would bring humor and knowledge to the show. However I would go outside the box and bring in someone like Jimmy Kimmel for the other chair, I dont enjoy his latenight show, but he used to do bits for Foxs pregame that was hiliarious. Or if you wanted to go more professional view you could get Marv or Joe Gibbs.
