My first favorite running back was Robb Riddick. 15 tds in 1988. Most of them from the 1 yard line

I  voted Cribbs, but Robb would have been number 2. I have his autograph on a piece of paper with Reich, Kidd, and Burroughs from when they stopped by my high school to play basketball.

  3. Ferragamo was a big deal, he was on the cover of SI. We sent the Rams our very first pick of the 83 draft (Tony Hunter not Kelly) for him. His very first game i think he threw for over 400 yards, and everyone thought he was our savior, of course he then began to suck.Gale Gilbert I think holds the record for consecutive Super Bowl appearances with 5( four with the Bills, then one with the Chargers). Willie Totten took the job when Jim Zorn turned us down. I remember Marv talking about the game against the Giants with the replacements after LT crossed the picket line. The left tackle has six holding calls against him in the first half and Marv asked him what was going on, the Left Tackle said six holding calls was good because he was holding him every play.

I know high completion % doesn’t always equal great accuracy but there is some correlation sometimes

Matt Stafford is a guy who had lower completion % in college but always threw a good ball.

He didn’t magically become accurate, he already was and The stats finally translated

Josh Allen isn’t the most accurate QB I have ever seen but he does throw some very good balls. His deep ball and mid range game are both very good

Actually I have a theory backed up by no evidence. His arm could be so strong that while he just guns it on longer throws, on short throws he may try to take something off it so his receivers don't have to catch a bullet from 10 yards away, and he loses accuracy in the process.

Good points, especially with the analytics. Schopp and Jeremy depend so heavily on the analytics for their opinions. I don’t necessarily have a problem with this if you were using analytics for pro sports (NFL or NHL).

It becomes a little more dangerous when using analytics for the college game and the using that data to predict success in the pro game. Why?

    1. Because the playing field is not level like the NFL. You might be comparing a qb from the ACC against a qb from the Big 12 but they have completely different schedules and opponents. How can an SEC qbs stats be compared to a qb in the MAC?

    2. The large variance of talent on college rosters is much different than the NFL where the talent levels are much more equal throughout a roster. Coaches can scheme to take advantage of a weak cb or safety that would have no chance at making an NFL roster. It’s much different on the NFL level because there are not nearly the same amount of weak links on the field.

    3. The college game is played differently than the pro game even though there has been more crossover. The types of plays, coverages, reads, etc are different. You see this regularly where a weak armed qb can have great success in the college game but have none in the pros because they are incapable of executing the plays at the next level. The college game allows teams to use the wide side of the field or for weak armed qbs to throw out routes to the short side of the field.

Ultimately, the stats from college performances are not as useful because it is a different game. The skill sets needed at the pro level are different than what is needed to have success in college.

So i have no problem with WGR or any fan using college stats but they cannot be the sole factor in an evaluation. Schopp makes it seem like you don’t even need scouts anymore because we have the analytics and I find his thinking flawed.

Analytics do not translate to football as they would baseball. Baseball everything is very similar pitch to pitch. Distance between mound and home plate, home plate and first base, this is all fixed and can get a good gauge of how to play by percentages. Football changes from play to play. Distance, alignment, scheme, even weather plays a bigger deal in football then baseball. It is way more difficult to get a good control set avg. I do think at times it would be useful, like they way Philly used it for deciding on two point conversions, but that is a more fixed play where avg. should play out without a big change. However with player evaluation it is in my humble opinion less then worthless, as there is way to many variables.

Didn't he just hurt his ankle in that game?   It couldn't have been that bad, I recall him playing in the Pro Bowl several weeks later (Nevermind, I am wrong, he didnt 'play, must've been a dream :)).    His Achilles injury the following year in the opener pretty much ruined his career.

Putting on a green jersey ruined his career(at least for me)

That is exactly what I do. Also catch Murph on msg. I do not wish them ill will, just upset that it used to be awesome, now I can not stand the line up. Also they are the only show in town, so being number one is not much of an accomplishment.

I just snicker to myself any time somebody in media pretends to have as valid a take on a player as the scouts and front office dudes who are literally drowning in information... information that is not available in a draft preview magazine.  Admit I was torn over Rosen vs. Allen on Thursday night... then I remembered that it was probably best to just have some faith in the guys running the team.  I hope that Rosen does well... I don't like to hear a bunch of people questioning someone's character when they don't actually know that person.  That's not right.  Allen is one of us now... and I hope that he does really really well.  Pretty tough for a 20 year old kid from a farm in Wyoming to deal with some of the crap that's flying around here right now.  That's not right either.

I trust the people making the decisions until I can not. Year's ago I swore they would be morons for not taking Winston Justice. Turns out the staff at that time was morons, but it had nothing to do with Winston Justice.

Bo Scarborough doesn't like to run between the tackles even though he is huge.

He also runs too upright which will get him lit up in the NFL......JMHO

That would make sense as the Dabol connection. Also these guys seem to like bangers, change up from Shady. I was unaware he did not like to run between the tackles.

    Cliff Notes:

Jeremy White: Used to really enjoy his takes. Over time he has become a little more arrogant and elitist (he gives off the vibe that anyone who disagrees with his thinking is a moron). The snark and politics have become too prevalent.

    - Jeremy is a young man, quit this job and pursue political talk.

Howard Simon: Years ago he was much better. The many years of our teams losing have made him much more negative and he tends to just agree with Jeremy on every topic. I liked the debate court he and Jeremy used to have when they actually took different sides on an issue.

    - Howard is Bill Murray on Feb. 2nd. Used to be very entertaining now he seems like he is sick and tired of doing the same thing over and over.

Bulldog: Don’t mind him too much. I wish he would be stronger with his takes when they are opposed to Mike’s. He is pretty reasonable but too often takes a back seat to whatever Mike wants to talk about.

-Hometown guy, and he had to put up with Bauerly for years( he gets a pass)

Mike Schopp: I disagree with many of his takes but he can be interesting to listen to. He has gone a little too far with analytics should make every decision and the no momentum in sports rants. Actually improved from a few years back when he would almost brag on radio about not being a fan of the Bills. That is until today when he got so upset that he seemed like he was going to root against the Bills for the Allen pick.

-Mike used to be cool, hip funny like a young Letterman. Now he is a old, bitter, depressing, douche, Letterman

Murphy/Tasker: they get a bunch of good guests and Tasker is a little better than I thought he would be. I thought Ruben might have been a good replacement for Donald. Murphy tends to be a homer but that is his role and don’t mind it too much because most all the other shows are so negative.

    - I enjoy listening to them, like Donald as well and will miss him. Could do without Murphy pointing out Tasker having the day off every segment.

Sal: He is pretty good. I think Joe B was better but Sal is generally a voice of reason.

-I really wish Joe B was still on. He should be way more prevalent in all Buffalo Sports. I dig Sal though

Ryan: don’t listen to that often but he seems funny and can be entertaining.

    - bring back Jim Brinson..

I actually think we have it pretty good in buffalo, as others have said, other markets have it much worse. I agree they, Mike in particularly, can get quite prickly with callers, but the callers are so bad. As for Sal, I don't believe they're afraid to stand up to him, they have him on to report and get his opinion. It would be silly for them to  invite him and argue with him the whole time .

I spent time in the Austin Texas, and Louisville Kentucky Markets. I enjoyed both. To be fair, they did have a bigger variety of teams and topics to discuss.

I lost faith and interest in WGR when the Bills made the playoffs for the first time this decade.  One of them, think it was Bulldog, then actually went on a rant because this season cost us draft positioning.  I...was in shock after that and have felt no compulsion to tune back in since then.

Jeremy White comes across like he truly feels he is better then everyone who is listening. Howard Simon I think has been beaten down by two decades of talking about losing teams. Schopp, used to be amazing to listen to when he did the sports talk for smart people. I would even listen to his hobby show, and I do not even collect cards. Maybe they should bring Brinson back to lighten everyone up a little. Or just get satellite radio and listen to the NFL channel.

  15. I do not even listen to wgr anymore. I listened to Schopp and Simon since 107.7 days. These guys where just amazing back then, the sports symposium and everything they did. In fairness they have had to discuss Losing teams for a coup!e of decades. Now since J.Bus left I really only enjoy Sal. I feel like I am listening to a bitter divorced person talking about their ex. They are not Sully bad yet, but definate!y trending that way. I mean it's the draft, enjoy what your team has done, don't be the parents that run downstairs Christmas morning and tell the kids that Santa is make believe.

Up to $40 ($50 with Bills Bonus Pick) to the Bills store or any online store as long as Bills attire is purchased. I will pay for it and have it shipped to you!

    Rules:

    1. Pick the team that DRAFTS the player (if team A drafts player A and trades him to team B, team A is the correct answer)

    2. Open to all posters who registered(with twobillsdrive) BEFORE April 10, 2018 (PM me if you didn't, I may grant an exception based on your posts or the number of beers I've had when you ask (creativity will help your odds!)

    3. You must get ALL correct

    4. 1 guess per person, I will freeze it an hour before the draft - edit as long as you want. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the longest-tenured TBD poster. Longevity will be rewarded here. (Per GOBILLS78 suggestion - I like it)

Here are the 5 players and a bonus...you DO NOT have to get the bonus correct to win the $40 - The Bills pick is whomever they select with their 1st selection wherever that is.

We had a winner last year! Good luck!  I'd be surprised if no one wins this year.

    Copy and paste this:

    1. Sam Darnold      -  Browns

    2. Josh Rosen         - Jets

    3. Josh Allen           - Patrjots

    4. Baker Mayfield   - Bills

    5. Lamar Jackson  - Ravens

       Bonus: Bills Pick     - Mayfield

Welcome to TSW Draft game.  To kind of make things fun, as well as let some people try to show off what they think they “know,” I’m making a little competition for Day 1 of the draft.  For every question, you get points for a correct answer.  Whoever gets the most points, wins.  What do they win you ask?  I’m pretty sure confidence, a full beard, and many leather bound books.

With that being said, please answer the questions below.  For scoring purposes, please put your answer next to the corresponding number of the question:

    9.  Which LB will get drafted first?

    10.  Which player in attendance will fall out of the first round (1 point for every correct answer. Minus 1 point for each incorrect)

    11.  Will the Bills make a trade in the first round?  If yes, with who and to where?  (1 point for each correct answer)

    12.  Who will the Bills take with their first pick?

    13.  Will the Patriots trade up?

    14.  Who will the Patriots take with their first round pick?
