  1. No matter what anyone says, you probably are not going to change your mind. So why bother? I will only say that I sincerely hope that Turner does not go to another team and then become "that player we could have had" ... that one who may become a perennial pro-bowler.

I'm not sure if he will ever be that guy who is a perennial pro bowler. He is in the same conference as LaDanian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, Laurence Maroney, and lets not forget of course the best back in the league. I think it would be tough road for him.

  2. OJ flat out kills them, Willis impregnates them, and Lionel beats them up.

    WTF???

TAMPA, Fla. -- Buccaneers running back Lionel Gates was arrested and charged with hitting a pregnant woman in the face and pushing her into a wall during an argument.

The 25-year-old player was being held Friday with no bond, jail records said.

Gates kicked in the front door of Peggie Lavender's apartment Thursday night, destroyed two televisions and two doors, put a hole in the bedroom wall and assaulted her, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report said. He was arrested later at his apartment in the same complex.

Gates was charged with burglary of a dwelling, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and criminal mischief. A call to his lawyer, Ken Sarnoff, was not immediately returned. The team had no immediate comment.

"Charges such as those facing Lionel Gates are taken seriously by the Buccaneers organization," the team said in a statement Friday. "We plan to meet with Lionel as soon as possible after which we will deal with this matter appropriately."

Gates was signed by Tampa Bay in September after being released by Buffalo. He played in college at Louisville and was drafted by the Bills in 2005.

I think its something about Buffalo women...

  3. I met him the day before the 2004 Draft at Madison Square Garden. I was meeting up with Mark Vader, from this site, as we are both from the West Coast. Getting tickets was a mess (they handed out wristbands at about 1:00 A.M. I was fortunate to be out and about or I wouldn't have been able to get in to the draft at all.

Mark and Ken weren't aware that my son and I had already received our wristbands and they went way out of they're way to come to my hotel at about 2:30 in the morning to inform of the fiasco taking place at MSG. I really appreciated both of them going out of their way to try and prevent , what for me and my son, would have been a real tragedy.

Both Kenny and Mark are great guys as anyone who has tailgated with them will attest !!

That draft was a pain in the ass trying to get tickets to. The wait that night was ridiculous and then yo had to sleep with the !@#$ing wrist band on. All and all, a good draft, but christ that wait was enough for one to murder that rent a cop the next morning when they forced us to wait in that old sh------- hallway.

Rather interesting that another poster from the site was actually there.

  4. The going rate for solid RBs that are established and/or pro bowl caliber (edge, thomas jones, even shawn alexander and tra henry) has not been a 1st round draft choice in recent years. Willis McGahee was worth two 3rd Rounders(next year's most likely late round as well) and a 7th. So why would the Bills even consider giving up more than an early third or at most two 3rd rounders for Turner? He can be effective, has less wear, we know all of this. An argument against the RBs mentioned above was they would be expensive to sign long term, but do we actually think that Turner will come cheap? The only way that we will trade for him is if he signs a long term deal; and he is going to demand starter money. He won't come cheap either. IMO, anything more than two 3rd rounders or POSSIBLY next years 2nd (hopefully mid to late rd) is costing too much for this guy. We can address RB in the draft in the 2nd round for much cheaper and potentially a better fit depending on who is there. I hope we don't overpay for MT. Opinions?

The other thing that people are forgetting about Michael Turner is that he is an unrestricted free agent after this season. The Bills would have to work out a deal with Turner in advance if they were interested in acquiring his services. Who is to say that Michael Turner is any kind of agreeable person? Just because LaDanian Tomlinson is, does not mean Turner is.

  5. Listen ladies and gents, if Marv is willing to offer a first round pick, Turner would already be in Buffalo. Smith knows that he is not going to get the first and third round pick that he unrealistically set for acquiring Turner, and if Marv was going to offer the twelfth pick in the draft, he would have done so and smith would have accepted. It's not going to happen because Marv is not stupid and he is not going to surrender a first round pick for Turner. Sorry.

I could see second round or maybe even third round compensation for Turner, in which case i might say pull the trigger. It all depends on who and what they are targeting for the second and third round, as well as the first and who is going to be there in each slot.

As for Briggs, you don't want him. Rosendouche is his agent and we obviously want nothing to do with him. I wish you guys would stop discussing Briggs because he is not coming to Buffalo. He's not worth it in the first place and if he even closely resembled the talent that the Bears want to be compensated for, we still don't want him. One, because of the holes to fill, and two because of his attitude. Forget it. He's not coming.

  6. Yes, there is no way we get all three players. Meachem will be gone by the 1st round, possibly higher than Willis, and you just can't trade an '08 draft pick like you claim to move back into the 1st round. It is a nice pipe dream but that is all it is, imo.

I think it is just a pipe dream also. I didn't think we would actually get all of these players, and a lot of this is based on early draft information. As of pre combine, Robert Meachem was supposed to be a second round pick, but i guess his stock rose quickly and now he is going in the first round.

I personally think that Meachem could slide, but you never know. It all depends on what people feel like on draft day. Whatever the result, do look for the Bills to push extremely hard over these next two years to get a team into place.

  7. I don't propose anything! I'm just stating a fact and drawing a conclusion. And the breakdown of the extended family has a lot more to do with other factors than just the women not being chained to the home and kids. I'm not sure its a bad thing, either. I suppose its a matter of what you like

No need to worry, just giving you a little sh-- on this early saturday morning.

  8. Perhaps its a sign of the growing isolation of so many people. Families are smaller and in many cases farther apart. Pets provide a stability and love that is lacking, I guess. What's stranger, people's love of pets or of sports teams? Have you ever tried to explain to a non-sports fan why you love the Sabres?

So what do you propose? Women should go back to the kitchen so that families can be whole again?

  9. Finally, the bike cops will have someone to snicker about...

I'll admit, this might be more effective than I originally thought. The bad guys might collapse with laughter. And does this really deserve a press conference...?

Rochester Police Get Scooters for Street Patrols

(March 30, 2007) — Rochester Police Chief David Moore is holding a news conference at 4 p.m. today to announce that the department has gotten Segway Personal Transporters — stand-up scooters — to be used by officers on the streets.

The Greece Police Department got one about 1 ½ years ago that is used to patrol The Mall at Greece Ridge.

The news conference is at Aquinas Institute, 1127 Dewey Ave.

OMG. How humiliating for someone who more than likely has a two year degree in criminal justice from Monroe Community College.

I'd probably piss on them when i was drunk.

  10. After we flip first round picks with SD for the Burner, we might draft Beason at 30.

You do not want to flip first rounders with the Chargers. If the Bills did that, i would automatically scream frantically because i would know that Marv had an epileptic episode, and on Instant Messanger typed in "yes" by chance when AJ Smith asked if that was a suitable deal.

In all seriousness, please stop it, the idea is retarded.

  11. They could make the playoffs, stranger things have certainly happened. But with as many issues as they have, I have a hard time thinking they'll be anything more than an 8-8 team in a division with NE and an improving NYJ.

All the Bills really need is a legitimate ground attack to stabalize their offense, and give their defense some rest. I think Marv realized this and that is why we acquired so many offensive lineman on day one of free agency. The only missing piece is a legit running back to carry the rock. This in turn, with one or two linebackers, will stabalize our defense thus allowing fewer points and producing more victories on the field.

As for your assessment of the Jets, they had a schedule last year that was set for a team that had the fourth over all pick in the draft. Then they lost in the playoffs. I wouldn't go that far with the Jets. ESPN may be blowing the Jets organization and Eric Mangini, but that doesn't mean that people on this board should follow suit.

  12. This is based partly off of the thread that discusses PFT's thoughts for what we should do. It was extremely lengthy, so i thought i'd make a thread in itself. Do not flame, just read. Kind of lengthy, but what the hell, right?

First off, i believe that the plans set for this year are to make a viable push for the playoffs. I really don't think that they are thinking super bowl quite yet, so i think the goal for this year is that we make an attempt at the playoffs and let the team gel a little bit more.

Next year will be the year in which the Bills make their real push for the big bang. It's difficult to talk about, but i am almost sure that Ralph Wilson will not be around for three more years, so this has to happen within the next two. I think he knows this as well as Marv Levy knows this. I think that it is in the card deck that the Bills will pull out all stops to make this happen.

That being said, it may not be that bad of an idea to trade our first round pick in 2008 for Peterson or someone that could change your franchise. Now stick with me, i am not saying that you give up this years first for Peterson. Instead, like the article said, if we can find a trade partner willing to accept the deal we would get a steal since we will more than likely be picking in the high teens to mid twenties next season.

You trade up with next years first to get Peterson. I say this because if next year is supposed to be the year, you will only need a few players to cap off your team. I have a feeling that those players could be found in the second round, or twice in the third since we have Baltimore's other third round pick as well.

We get Peterson and Patrick Willis this year in the first round. Thus giving those guys a year to step into the system and gel with the team. We have the cap space to do it. That way we have someone to carry the rock on offense, and we also have a young leader to anchor the defense, in addition to Donte Whitner.

    (Sparks a cigarette)

In the second round this year, we look to pick up a wide receiver. I know the team has expressed interest in Robert Meachem of Tennessee, and if he is still on the board, i believe we pull the trigger almost instantly. I was going to insert Lawrence Timmons into this spot, but with the acquisition of Willis, Crowell gets kicked outside and Ellison proved to be a decent starter last season.

In the third round we look to take a tight end or cornerback. We have never had a decent tight end in Buffalo and it might be worth our while to acquire one with this pick. I say cornerback because i believe that either Youboty or McGee will not be able to fill the starting role.

Thus at the end of this offseason, our line-up looks something like this...

    QB: JP Losman, Craig Nall

RB: Adrian Peterson, Anthony Thomas, Free Agent pick up

FB: Brad Cieslak (Can switch from TE to FB or vice versa in packages)

WR: Lee Evans, Robert Meachem, Peerless Price, Josh Reed, Roscoe Parrish, Sam Akien

TE: Robert Royal, Kevin Everett, Third Round Tight end

LT: Jason Peters, Brad Butler, Terrence Pennington

    LG: Derrick Dockery, Aaron Merz

    C: Melvin Fowler, Duke Preston

RG: Langston Walker, Jason Whittle, Duke Preston

    RT: Terrence Pennington, Brad Butler

    RDE: Aaron Schobel, Anthony Hargrove

DT: Larry Tripplet, John McCargo, Kyle Williams, Darwin Walker

    LDE: Chris Kelsay, Ryan Denney

OLB: Keith Ellison, Angelo Crowell, Coy Wire, Mario Haggan

    MLB: Patrick Willis, John Digiorgio

CB: Ashton Youboty, Terrence McGee, (Rookie in third round) Kiwaukee Thomas, Jabari Greer

SS: Donte Whitner, Free Agent pick up or Rookie, Jim Leonhard

    FS: Ko Simpson, Jim Leonhard

    K: Rian Lindell

    P: Brian Moorman

In two days, i think that this team just got one hell of a lot better. Given another year to gel, i believe that this team alone has the potential to make the super bowl. Then you add a second round pick and a third round pick next year in positions that are easy to fill and i think our team is looking almost immaculate.

    Thoughts or Opinions a good...

  13. Willis cares about himself more than anyone else. He did make ill comments on the Bills but he also did want to extend his contract here. He got alone with his teammates here, and if we extended him contract I don't think he would have been much of a problem. He is gone though and he thinks before he speaks so his comments got him in trouble. I wish him luck but I still hold some of his comments against him a little bit even though I dont think he meant to make them.

Yes, he wanted to extend his contract because he wanted to stay in Buffalo, the money had nothing to do with it. Why was he not extended then?

  14. Very true.

He is the same guy who (just before the first game of the season) said that he wanted to win the game for the city of Buffalo and the fans. He is the same guy who said that he thanked God to be in Buffalo. He is the same guy who actually bought a house in Orchard Park. He is the same guy who came back from a severe rib injury after just a couple of weeks. He is also the same guy who had his agent try to extend his contract so that he could stay in Buffalo. It was the Bills who did not want to do this. In the end, the contract he signed with the Ravens was very reasonable for RBs under the present cap.

I live in Miami. There is more to do for a young guy (especially a rich young guy) in Miami and South Beach. Have any of you guys ever been to South Beach?!? Before I was married, I had many a good time there.

As someone else said, every time I ever heard one of his teammates interviewed about him, they spoke of him favorably. I particularly remember a Lee Evans interview on BB.com after McGahee came back from his rib injury.

Someone posted recently that he was never ripped around here. In fact, he was ripped constantly. The Bills also spread rumors in the press that he did not know the plays.

I am sure that I am going to be ripped for this post. So be it. I like McGahee and thought that he could have been part of the solution. I am sure that he is going to be very productive running behind a better offensive line in Baltimore -- I just wish we had the opportunity to see him run behind the Bills' upgraded line.

As I said before, although I like McGahee and Miami, I love Buffalo and the Bills. The most important thing is that we find someone that can run with the rock. JP had the luxury of facing 8 men fronts because of the respect that opposing defenses had for McGahee. We better have a running game that is going to garner the same amount of respect for JP's sake.

As a side note, it is interesting that it was the Ravens who targeted McGahee and gave him the new contract. I remember how McGahee was ripped on this board after that game. The Ravens obviously respected his talent. They not only played much of the game with only 3 defenses backs, they also went out of their way to acquire him. Apparently, their view of McGahee is different from those that ripped him here.

In any event, I hope that the Bills fill the holes at RB, LB, and CB.

    Just my two cents.

    Go Bills!!!

I didn't have severe beef with McGahee until he started acting up. I think it was the right move to get rid of him, tough.

Let's not forget, if you take away the two Jets games, McGahee would have been averaging less than sixty yards A GAME last season. Let's also not forget that he only needed 30 yards in a game to pass the 1,000 yard mark for the season in the last game, against Baltimore. He could not manage 30 yards on the ground? That sounds to me like he had given up on the Bills, and i do not want that on my team.

I think Willis reached the zenith of his potential with Buffalo a few years ago, and i don't think he had the motivation necessary to succeed in Buffalo. That being said, i would not be suprised if he had a decent season in baltimore. It was just his time to go.

His remarks these past few weeks have been ridiculous. Yes, he might have been taken out of context, but how much longer is he going to fall back on this excuse? He has said this about everything ill that he has said about the city of Buffalo. What he did is inexcusable. He took a stab at the women of Buffalo, spit on the city, and the night life.

I guess i just have a hard time to comprehend why he gets a pass on this. To tell you the truth, i'm sure Brian "the Brian Billick put him up to this. Willis does not care about the city of Buffalo or the people that reside there. He could care less about relations in the NFL but it seems as though a guy like Billick would. ESPN was even starting to step up to the plate in Buffalo's DEFENSE. I'm sure at that point, Billick said enough is enough, and told Willis to apologize.

Go Bills in '07 (With one less headache)
