This is the Super Bowl window folks. It’s all in! You can’t have a Josh Allen , diggs and Von and not have cap problems…….
reset the cap shedding expectations
At the risk of being redundant with a zillion similar comments on this board, this is why Beane needs to NAIL the next couple drafts, and get some starters out of them.

I'm sure this answer will be unpopular. I want to see Beane unload cap $$. Beane has backloaded contracts so much that Allen/Miller/Diggs will be counting almost $110 million against the cap in two years. I liked the Allen restructure, but didn't like the other two as much. The Bills also have 6-10mil/year in cap space used up by void years every year between now and 2027. Between restructured/backloaded contracts and void years the Bills will have almost a $20 mil cap space disadvantage vs most teams each year for almost the next half decade. And we're already 10 mil over next year's cap before accounting for Poyer, the draft, or the ~20 players we're going to need to sign. The current team is essentially being paid for on a credit card w/ future cap space.
I thought it was smart to let Edmunds walk for $18mil/year, but not if we're going to pay $18mil/year to Hines/Neal/Matakevich/Settle/Harty type players instead. Those were luxuries I think the Bills should have gone without this year and are not the players I want the Bills to mess up their future cap space for.
I would trade Oliver, cut McKenzie, cut Neal because those are the only contracts left on the entire roster the Bills can actually get out of. Re-sign Phillips/Shaq/Klein if any of them will sign cheap 1 yr deals. Then go into the draft targeting O-line/LB/Safety and roll whatever money we can over to next year. Beane was brilliant with the cap his first few years here but I think it's a mistake to keep doubling down on going all in when Josh Allen alone is going to likely keep us competitive for a decade+
I'm glad Beane addressed the O-line, and I'm glad Poyer is back, but otherwise not a fan of the $$ given out this offseason and hope not to see much more.
An interesting, lucid take.

I do think a decent backup QB helps in camp and helps identify players to maybe keep in preseason games.
Also, if Allen is out for the season I agree, but what about finishing a game where a QB goes down or for 1 or 2 during the season?
I'm not advocating for a high $ backup, but I think the position has more to it than many fans believe.
Agree. Everyone assumes the injury will be season ending. Picture the scenario where the Bills are 4-0 and kicking everyone's ass, and (God forbid) QB1 sprains his ankle, or is in the concussion protocol for a few weeks. Are people saying "just tank the season, we have no chance"? You have to have someone who can muddle through and not lose 3-4 games by themself.

I agree but Allen makes up for it
You mean like the failed sneak against the Titans a couple years ago, or the failed sneak against the Vikings this year? Josh is many things, but for some reason, an awesome sneaker he isn’t yet.

Why don’t the bills do what the eagles do with 1 yard to get?
Just spit-balling…Oline talent maybe?

That’s how an Oline plays. Hope the Bills line is paying attention.

His cards were laid bare in Sunday's drubbing. He told the truth today. KC and Cincy are better, and he doesn't know how to make the Bills good enough to beat them.
It's no secret they were all in on this year. Losing Miller hurt. Losing Hyde hurt. All the other realities throughout the season that everyone has conveniently forgotten really happened. Perhaps you can dredge up some contrarian posts you had from early in the season where you predicted we weren't built to win it all. You won't because you didn't. You believed like the rest of us. It didn't work out the way you, me, Josh Allen, Sean McDermott, and Brandon Beane all believed it could.
Time to move forward, Armchair GM.

Cant operate solely on prior success.
He contradicted himself at the PC
Yea he said “we won 13 games.”
But then went on to say “won’t be active in FA…..going to lose some guys…..and it’s the end with this group - implying every season brings turn over.”
Now my guess is he meant “our process works.”
Can’t disagree with that.
But you can say that - then tell us we’ll continue to do everything we can; we’re going to address the mistakes made that starts with me. And we’re going to be better.”
You don’t go out there and refuse to admit there is a gap with us and Cincy. You can at least say something like yea they have a good team. So do we. We’ll be back.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Beane's not lowering expectations a little bit on purpose. You could argue the expectations on this team from Day 1 of the season were off the charts and, I believe, were a burden. I think this team would like to fly under the radar a bit next year. Plus, if people think a GM is going to lay all his cards on the table in a post-season presser, well, that's just bad poker.

That was one of the worst Beane PCs I have watched.
We won 13 game guys... How many times did we hear that
It's a fact. And we lost 3 regular season games by a total of 8 points. We stunk last Sunday and need to make improvements.

Me too.
The 2022-2023 Bills should be celebrated. I'll never forget this team and the emotional turmoil they went through this year was beyond anything one could have predicted.
After the Hamlin injury the predominant thought was the rest of the season doesn't even matter as long as Damar is okay. Can't help but think some of those thoughts seeped into the minds of the players to the detriment of their play on the field - though, it likely improved their mental health off the field. A psychological catch-22.
Go Bills
I think they lost just enough of their edge and "killer instinct" coming off the Hamlin injury to make a difference. I bet more than a few of them have been just emotionally spent the past few weeks, on top of the coaching and talent inadequacies.

I’m rooting for a massive swarm of ravenous locusts to descend on the field and leave nothing but a pile of pads, helmets, and cleats.

so it can flip back and forth randomly while walking?
Flip may not be the right word, but that torn piece can move from a position that produces no pain, to a position that produces breath-taking pain.

"flipped meniscus"??
I think I experienced that. I tore my meniscus and sometimes I could walk fine, but then, my ortho told me, the torn piece can flip around, and it would stop you in your tracks and make you cry like a little girl.

I played in high school and sustained some decent injuries (concussion, neck, broken hand). It was still my favorite sport to play. When my two sons got into middle school, they decided to play soccer for their fall sport, and part of me was kind of relieved they didn't choose football.

Gotta go in and take care of business. If today’s effort (so far) against Philly is any indication, they’ll be ready to play.

I completely understand. I tried with my daughter to get her into football into her 20's. She never really got into it. Now she's 30, she watches more football than I do and texts me all the time asking if I saw this or that play!!🤔🤣🤣🤣
I’m experiencing the opposite. My two sons, now in their mid20s, grew up Patriots fans (we live north of Boston) experiencing all the Super Bowls. I’ve been able to steer them toward the light, and they’ve been on the bandwagon since Josh was drafted. It’s a work in progress, but they “get” the Mafia and the history. And how much it means to Dad!

Bucs Release Leonard Fournette

Depending on the price, we could do a lot worse than Leonard Fournette. Dude runs hard.
