  1. Eli Manning vs. Pittsburgh 16 of 23 (70%) for 182 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 2 rushes for 18 yards Tom Brady - Super Bowl (O.k., this was Brady's 2nd year, but Losman threw more passes as a rookie than Brady did.) Ben Roethlisberger - @Dallas (to pick just one example) 21 of 25 (84%!!!) for 193 yards, 2 TD Byron Leftwich - vs. San Diego 19 of 28 (68%) for 336 yards!!!, 2 TD Carson Palmer - @Baltimore (again, 2nd year, but Losman threw more passes as a rookie than Palmer did) 29 of 36 (80.6%!!) for 382 yards!!!, 3 TD and 1 INT Rex Grossman - vs. Washington 19 of 32 (59.4%) for 249 yds 2TD and 1 INT (note: this is not spectacular by any means, but is more yards than Losman has ever thrown for, and a higher completion percentage than ever game against the Texans.) Next question? JDG How bout we stick with that question! You all want to compare JP's stats to other young QB's and say that he isn't cutting it...well in terms of some of the other QB's that JDG offered as comparison, I just thought this would be of some importance Drew Brees- was HORRIBLE in his first few seasons, mainly because he is a checkdown passer that rarely throws it to the WR's. He relies mainly on his RB and TE to make plays...hence LT with over 100 catches for a season. But it wasn't until he got a SOLID TE that he finally started playing like a starting calibre QB! Eli Manning- Didn't have the greatest bunch of WR's. Tiki was playing well and can catch out of the backfield and he already had Jeremy Shockey. But with TIME and FAITH from the coaching staff who told the team like it or not THIS IS OUR QB so GET USED TO IT. THey took their lumps with the kid, fixed up the O-line the following season, brought in the best FA WR on the market...couple that with a year under his belt understanding the offence + TIKI + Shockey = Results Ben Roethlisberger- Yea he was extremely accurate, but thats when you go to a team that has an AMAZING defense that won't let u down and give up a crushing TD to the opposing team on the last play of the game. Ya he preformed well with his team racking up like 150 rush yards a game...making the play action actual FOOL someone! ANd look at his pass attempts rarely does Ben throw the ball over 20..b'cuz the offense doesn't ask him too. ANd lets be real, he had the BEST O-LINE in football, he had hines ward, plaxico burress, Randle El, Reimershma (a good pass catchin TE), and that other TE...plus they drafted that Miller Kid. ANd the key point was just don't lose the game BEN... Carson- lol, first of all the kid was the 1st overall pick for a REASON folks...secondly he also had a pretty damn good O-line, solid running game, CHAD..CHAD...and CHAD!!! plus TJ and a whole other cast of decent WR's...that TE Shoebel, who is also pretty good.. The only exception could be Leftwich...but he also had a good defense, fred taylor, and a solid o-line...only thing he lacked was a solid receiving corps but he did have Jimmy Smith and they drafted a ton of WR's! You see u did put up some pretty good arguments, but the fact remains that the common demoninator that all these QB's had as rookie were: 1) a GOOD offensive line 2) a checkdown receiver (a pass catching running back) 3) a Solid TE (they say that a TE is a rookie QB's best friend) 4) a good defense (that will keep u in the game, and get u back that ball) 5) and i didn't mention this, but a GOOD coach...a coach that BACKS his QB ala Tom Coughlin, a coach that utilizes his QB's talents, a coach that won't come out guns a blazing in the first quarter, and then go conservative for the rest of the game..Mularkey's play calling has been horrible at times and as much as you want to blame JP...he aint the one calling the plays 6) a solid Running game- i'm not saying that McGahee hasn't played well, but he has been sporatic! He gets pulled out of the games ALOT!! Once were down we shy away from the run, he splits TOO much time with that midget SHaud WIllliams, and we don't play that smash mouth football that MM has been saying that were going to be! if you can honestly tell me that JP has been given all, if not all at least SOME, of the above criteria then I agree that he is a bust and we need to get rid of him. But he HASN'T!! Couple that with some Fans that expect the world out of him + a washup backup QB who has 1 good game + a benching....i bet JP has regressed more this season than the progress he SHOULD have made. The kid has been asked to play like a 10 year vet, to win games with him arm regardless of an o-line, or a running game... I don't know of many QB's that can do that rookies or veterans! Next season hopefully they let the kid play the WHOLE season and either he has it or doesn't. With the way some fans react on the bills team, i'm glad none of you guys are GM b'cuz we would have never gotten the chance to see Eli Manning, or Drew Brees, or Boller develop! David Carr would have been gone after season 1, Harrington shouldn't even be seeing the field, and Alex Smith would have got benched before he'd have the ability to throw that first TD pass this week! It is what it is folks... Any more questions?
  2. lemme see: - He overthrew players (ie. all the interceptions by Law...Reed tip, Campbell tip) - He underthrew players (ie. the sheldon pass) - He just wasn't accurate at ALL - the O-line WAS giving him time - McGahee averaged roughly 4.0ypc, and didn't break a long one...meaning the running game was churching out yards in 4-5 yards per rush!..so don't give me that he didn't have a running game The guy showed you why he isn't a starter in the NFL, he's too damn inconsistent and he has been given plently of time to show case that. He'll give you a great game one week, and then stick up the joint the next! Thats why he's a backup... Losman in 06...PLEASE!!
  3. There is SOO MUCH badd... I wont blame the dude for takin M.Williams, i mean everyone had him as the highest rate on the their board...and even B.McKinnie hasn't been that much better...however! 1) He did Hire Gregg Williams, and pass on Marvin LEWIS 2) He let our best franchise offensive lineman go and didn't even bother franchising him or getting something back for him 3) I'm pretty sure we asked too much on the whole Henry situation 4) We let go of Pat Williams, our best defensive lineman...and our Defensive line has struggled mightly 5) We let go of Reuben Brown..i don't care wat nobody says about all those holding penalties, he did was he was suppose to do....protect our QB..and he was decent! Ya he was overpaid...but now the bears got one helluva LG and believe me Thomas Jones is luvin it! 6) Drafting Roscoe Parrish with our highest pick in the draft!!...what was he on? 7) i could keep going, but i don't want to be selfish feel free to add on to the other TD screw ups
  4. i understand we have high expectations for JP...but what team doesn't have high expectations when they take a player in the first round! For the most part, when you draft a OL, DL, LB, RB, TE, you can typically plug them in and they will make an impact... But for WR,CB, S, and especially QB's they're development takes a little longer...if you get outstanding production from those positions, count your blessing and thank the lord cuz them type of things don't happen often. JP has all the talent in the world, but this is a team game played by 22 players....our Defence can't hold ANYONE!!! Our WR's can't seperate from the DB's...when is the last time u remember seeing a wide open WR for the buffalo bills? Our defense is so used to those broken coverages where an opposing WR is running by himself in our secondary, but wen's the last time we have had that kind of luxury! And with this wack Coaching staff, that calls trick plays at the WRONG times, and run's when we should passs...and pass's when we should run...and abandons the run so quickly in a game...what do u expect!! The kid needs TIME he has all the tools...and now he needs the experience...How many children in their lives hoped on a two wheeler and took off riding...JP is gonna fall, pick himself up and get the hang of this eventually...I seen more promise in him, than Carr, Harrington and Boller...and i think he will be better than all three... juss give the kid time
  5. All that personality BS aside, I don't get it! JPs Short Career Highlights -The kid was stapled to the bench for his entire first season (partly due to his injury) -Struggled mightly in his first few games and was sent to the bench -came in for the injured holocomb and played really well -showed progress, before getting injured again -and now he's back on the bench, and we're talking about Holocomb and finding another QB What I don't understand is how you can judge a YOUNG QB of all all players over the span of only 8 games played!! *Joey Harrington was given 3 years to prove himself, and he had the backing of the team and coached 100% *David Carr has struggled and he is still considered the franchise *Alex Smith has played HORRIBLE and his team still has faith in him *peyton manning was 3-13 his first year and had almost a double INT-TD ratio, and his team still backed him ***** And here's my gem, Eli Manning was HORRIBLE in his rookie season..i mean HORRIBLE!!!!!!! There is only so much you can learn by riding the bench and watching, 80% of learning is doing! Learning how to pick up blitz, learning to check down, learning to audible, learning the hurry up....these are things that you pick up while playing the game You guys gotta realize that not everyone is a ben rothleisberger, a tom brady or a carson palmer those are rare players who somehow manage to adapt. I mean hell, it takes WRs atleast 2 full seasons before they become IMPACT player (juss ask Eric Moulds)...and all they gotta do is learn a bunch of routes...whereas QB's gotta learn ALL the routes and all the plays and everything for the entire offence!! Brian Billick stood by Kyle Boller for a LONG time, and was patient with him..in his last few games he's been lighting up opposing secondary's!! And the reason why is because he's becoming COMFORTABLE in that offense...JP is still shaky... If after year 3 we don't see some SERIOUS progess, or even backwards development then by all means dumb him...but after what I have witnessed.. -Willis's lack of effort and production -the O-line putrid pass blocking at times(not all the time, they're sporadic) -the WR's drop balls -the horrible play calling -lack of a running game is it REALLy fair to judge him soley as the reason why were not playing well. I'm sorry but i don't want noddle arm Holocomb who's pushing 30 calling our plays he's a CAREER backup... Can some1 please explain to me what the problem is, cuz i don't get it.. boller, carr, harrington = we'll give u some time jp =win now or u suck,
  6. I say BURN it UP and start over.. -Our O-line STILL SUCKS... -McGahee did nothing (im assumin he got injured) but even was he was in the game he did nothing..putting way more pressure on JP to move the ball soley w/ his arm and no play action. * and most importantly, our WR's SUCK...with moulds we still haven't been able to average a game with 250+ passing yards, let alone 300 all year. And without him, its been magnified that... Roscoe Parrish- is a little boy, playing a mans game... Sam Aiken- remains to be our perrenial all pro on the practice team, but come sunday his hands are only good for wrappin ppl up on special teams...don't even mention catchin the ball. Josh Reed- showed some improvement FINALLY, I can only see him as a 4th or 5th wideout....still lacks #3 potential Lee Evans- aka, the poor mans steve smith....yea he can go and get that deep ball...and that's all he can do. Without moulds, teams are gonna start putting a safety over the top, and then what? Our 160lb WR parrish is gonna get knocked on his as$ b'cuz of the bump n run...Reed will get the ball thrown his way but it will go through his hands..and Aiken let the CB pick the ball, but display an amazing shoestring tackle to bring him down. Oh and as far as McGahee is concerned. This guy is STILL slow to me, he doesn't have that 5th gear, yea he'll carry some tackles here and there...but he won't break a run. I am predicting, that this offseason he's gonna work more on his speed and once he becomes a free agent after next season, whatever team he goes to he will be breaking runs left, right, and everyone...mark my words...But as a bills he's above average, best back in the league...ya RITE Folks when it rains it pours...and i'm getting ready for the tsunami... peace
  7. As far as I'm concerned the season is over. This is the time to see whether or not the backup's we got are worth playing, and signing the right people to contract extensions. Case and point, peters to me has proven he is a worthy of a starting position. He has more than handled, dare i say it...DOMINATED..opposing DE's in his tenure as the bills starting RT. Don't believe me, just ask Jason Taylor, Julius Pepper. I truly feel that his experience as a TE will make the shift from RT to LT that much more easier and cheaper. If his level of play doesn't drop at the new postion, I say we lock him up long term and for real cheap!! On another note, Teague is highly paid and overrated, I agree with my other fellow bills backers to start the kid Preston and see if he's the solution...if not we address that need via draft or FA signing. what do u guys think?
  8. First post guys, but I been with yall since 1999.. Random thoughs: 1) Drafting Roscoe Parrish- This guy is wat, 5'9 160lbs soaking wet. No where near as fast as I thought he would be, AND we took him with our First overal pick in last years Draft (2nd rounder). What hurts even more is the fact that Chris Henry the stud rookie WR for the bengals seemed like a better choice the kid is 6'4 200lbs and runs around 4.4 in the 40. I don't get it...did we really need a punt returner that bad? 2) Chris Henry and Alex Smith(TE)- We should have drafted Alex smith, the outstanding rookie TE with our second...and picked up Henry with our third. I know hindsight is always 20/20...but damn, i'm pretty sure I could have chose that then and there. 3) Replaced the left side of our O-Line- we got rid of JJ and that smith kid(who was trash) and repaced him with the bears trash of M. Gandy and I don't even know where they found B. Anderson. This was a HUGE step backwards, especially with a rookie QB with happy feet (who doesn't feel comfortable as it is). 4) Mike Williams- I don't care what anybody says, this guy was our best O-LInemen last season...and now he's been delegated to the bench because of an undrafted FA. Don't get me wrong Jason Peters has impressed the HELL out of me...holding his own, infact dominating premier DE like Julius Peppers and Jason Taylor. However, since he has proven himself as a capable RT, now is the time to move him to the LT spot...i'm sure he'll be able to make that adjust easier than MW, because williams has been playing that RT spot his whole football career. With peters at LT and williams at RT that is the beginning of a decent o-line 4) Vincent - highly overpaid, remember, he was brought in to be on the opposite side of clements... 5) Eric Moulds- My favourite bills since the kelly, reed, thermal era..THis guy has been my man since that 98 season...everytime there was a discussion about who the best WR was, I always had E-MOney on my list of top 5. But the fact remains, he doesn't have it like he used to...Where is that seperation, what happened to those long electrifying TD plays...what happened to breaking tackles and juking the hell out of DB's...The guy doesn't have it anymore. Every time I see a long pass play, it seems like the DB is going stride for stride with Eric. I hate to say it, but the guy doesn't have it anymore and isn't worth the money. 6) Rest of bills WR's- useless 7) McGahee- will get u the runs when u don't need them...when its crunch time and the game is on the line u get NOTHING!! Blame the o-line all you want, he has yet to break a big run in the past 2 seasons, and has yet to play a complete game (run, catch, block).. 8) Clements- good CB that wants a contract deserving of a Great CB. We will let him go, but damn were gonna miss him. If you thought our DB play was bad as it is, wait till u see this team without clements
